if I may be so bold/rude (depending on your viewpoint), may I ask about sth like, really unrelated to this topic? Specifically one of the trains which I mostly love and was totally hyped for before its release - the ICE-T... I have experienced a bug which, if you are under LZB supervision, got AFB turned on and there is an upcoming lower speed limit (so AFB brakes for you), and you got throttle on, once the AFB braking applies, it locks the throttle for some reason... no other train except ICE 3 Railbow (from the DLC) does this... I am pretty positive it isnt prototypical, but I could be wrong... it is bearable during services where changes occur only like once under LZB, but can get annoying if there is like a train in front of you, so you end up constantly having to reset throttle I know you cant solve it by yourself nor are you responsible for it, but maybe you know or suspect what might be causing this bug? it is the reason I dont play ICE-T on FTF actually (I do play it on other routes without LZB)
I know it's beautiful ain't it, oh the pain and anguish your going to to feel when I'm happily driving trains on my xbone series X and you'll be screaming into the void........ Oh you could always start a petition to the government, that kill Thomas one was a roaring success......
Frankly I couldnt give a damn if you console kids dont get the full experience. I’m gonna be fine with the TT on PC. Oh, by the way dont bother replying Ive added you to my blocked list you patronising so & so
A classic example of being able to dish out antagonising comments, but not being able to take them back, so no loss to me! Toodle pip chap! Anyway, back on topic... Yes as stated, it should work of Gen9 with no issues. We can only hope with the commitments made by DTG for optimising key areas that that it will finally get on top of some of the immersion killing errors. Matt has stated quite firmly they are working towards a solution and are throwing resources into it, and I believe him too, I just hope they allow the console users to experience the game without core issues causing frustration... Fingers crossed that it is more of just being a waiting game now.
I'm definitely about 10 level problem, if that's what you meant then I fully agree. You see I live life cranking everything too 11, so if I'm going to be a problem I'm going to be sodding huge problem with class and style. And knowing that buying DLC that I want is the problem for you, I'm going to have to buy literally everything in this franchise.... .... Oh wait I already have and will definitely continue doing so, I love being me, it's awesome..........
ah, living on the edge, nice ... for some reason I can hear some 80s Judas Priest in the background 8)
No its not what i meant. i meant 10. As in juvenile. 10 years old. The responses I'd expect off a ten year old. If nothings a problem, kindly drop out of the thread, there's nothing for you to worry about, unless of course you just want to troll, which is what you usually do to be fair. Ta.
First of all i dont get why you are so angry about my opinion. I never denied the fact that DTG should do certain things better but i only said at the point as of now you should look at previews, make your opinion and then buy or dont buy it. I dont see any reason why i should be a part of whatever problem. If they release a new route bundle with the name Tsw 6 on it and i like the content then im buying it. Simple and easy.
I have started with TSW2 and Rush Hour / New Journeys, and so far each "core route bundle" has been totally worth it, and I usually buy the deluxe (cos those had Vectron, Flixtrain Vectron and such)... TSW5 core bundle was pretty awesome too, even though they spent a lot of time fixing some stuff on WCML (but since I spent a lot of early TSW5 cycle playing only 390, I havent noticed most issues)... my only bigger gripe was the necessity to redownload those like 270GB of content all over again, which took me turning the download on before going to work and it finishing downloading an hour after I got back lol (and I work 12hrs shifts lol)
The redownloading is quite annoying thats true, im just glad my game was around 150GB in size as i downloaded Tsw 5 and it was a bit quicker than 2 hours. Still if they announce another eyecatcher like the ICE T and FTF last year, then i will press the preorder button the second its available. Still hopes up for a 412 or Flirt 3 but thats a bit off topic.
Public forum so no reason for me to drop out so I'm here to stay, definitely not to troll, but just state my opinions and demands just like you are doing, if it's valid for you do it, it's equally valid for me to do the same.......
oh man, when I saw the new core got 2 tilting trains and a German route with Frankfurt and LZB stuff, it was instabuy for me... San Bernardino also turned out to be one of my fav routes (with later F59 being also nice) I got most of modern UK stuff, pretty much all German/Austrian/Dutch content and all US passenger content... plus numerous loco/train DLCs, so yeah, since like 2021 it got chonky
I’m not angry with your opinion but I do find it incredibly dismissive. Whenever people quote such things as you did you are basically saying like it or lump it. I paid for Frankfurt fulda. I should be able to play it without texture issues. I paid for mittenwhaldbhan. I should be able to complete a journey without it crashing. I paid for MML. I should have passengers getting on and off of the trains not just standing there doing nothing. Those are just a few recent examples. I want to enjoy what I bought and I also don’t want to pay for a route that’s missing content. It’s restrictive and exclusive.
It has been said that this was the most complex route and had pushed consoles to the limits. Just my thought, but maybe it shouldn't have been.
I have what I would consider a large collection of TSW DLCs, plus all the versions of TSW itself since it came available on the Playstation. However, since WCML came out last year, there seems to be a shift in what is acceptable, I have stopped buying DLCs and that says something. TSW3 for me was a good solid version of the game, TSW4 was an absolute mutt, I tried to complete the Bakerloo timetable and every session it would crash. I upgraded to the free TSW5 or TSW4.5 what it should have been called and the Bakerloo crashes stopped thankfully, but found out recently that passengers at Straford international on SEHS work fine on TSW3, but are broken on TSW5. I am sitting on a 9.5 gen console and I have fuzzy textures, it is not acceptable. The creator club is pointless because if I put a livery who someone has spent time making, it makes microstuttering worse and can crash my game, so is there much point on a console?
Consoles always get the short end of the stick, across many games. Which is why I decided to switch back to PC Yesterday. But then, I was immediately reminded why I was a console gamer to begin with. For the past two days I haven’t been able to run a game on this brand new PC, trying to install drivers and then uninstall drivers and doing all this troubleshooting and no dice. tech-support had me doing the display driver UnInstaller and the thing froze in the middle of the process. Total nightmare all around, I spent like 2K and this thing doesn’t even run out of the box if ever. I’d like to back my car up over this thing
You don’t really state your opinions though do you? You just like to mock and make fun of people with genuine concerns or having trouble with the software.
Sorry to hear about your PC woes :-( they can be fun, but as for console owners getting the short end of the stick, when it comes to games thats plainly just false, I've lost count how many console "exclusive" games that have been released over the years, its one of the reason i now own and Xbox and PS5, when it comes to most games PC owners are the ones left trying to make buggy, poorly optimised games work right.
I've not bought anything in 4 months I believe. Prior, I was buying things a few times a month. Loads of new great DLC I'd like to try, but only when the core issues plaguing the game have been resolved. I'm just not playing much anymore, it doesn't feel so fun
It’s a fallacy that consoles are inferior. How many games have been ported to pc in the last few years that are real quality from consoles? Spiderman, Starfield, Ghost of Tsushima, Helldivers, Days Gone, Last of Us, Forza Horizon 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of war ragnarok, And they are just off the top of my head. All look great, play great and developed on consoles.
Console players really should be (note I said should, not must, for those who like the taste of leather) waiting to buy the Frankfurt S-Bahn route. DTG and Focus need to be told that we'll tolerate a lower resolution and FPS, less features is a no-no for the same price. This DLC sells and it tells them that's it's OK to give PS5 and Xbox users a gimped experience. That's my final 2 cents on the topic, so no need to quote reply me lol
I think that's the reason a lot of PC players (me included) became a Console player. We see a gaming machine like a car. We want to press a button and it runs. We don't like to tune our machines the whole time, that it runs.
Thats only due to modern consoles (i.e. last generation and current being basically PCs as in x86 based machines) being based on x86 architecture, both xbox 1 and ps4 where basically built on AMDs bulldozer CPU, all be it a very cut down version (i think core clocks where around the 1.4 to 1.8ghz) so of course its a lot easier nowadays to port stuff over to PC, and i do agree this gen of console is very capable, based on AMDs Zen 2 architecture i think, and just as quick mention 4 of those games you mentioned ran like utter c__p on PC and needed several patches to even reach a stable 60fps, and thats on PCs with horsepower a console could only dream about, this whole comparison bollox is going to allows go round in endless circles from both sides, dosent make any points that previous people have made any more or less viable than yours or even mine, i think we need to stop this before this thread completely moves away from its intended purpose and turns into a flame war.
Yes PCs are more powerful than consoles. But why there's a console version of the game? Exactly because the PC player base is to small to make it to an economic success. So without our financial efforts in the game, there will be no PC version of the game too.
Think of it this way, its easier to go from console to PC than the other way around, PCs generally have larger margins, as in you can be a bit lazier as you have the headroom, consoles are a closed system with finite resources, thats not a bad thing per say as consoles usually as a rule of thumb use there hardware more efficiently (as in devs usually have closer access to the bare metal horsepower of the system) PCs have always had to struggle through abstraction layers i.e. operating system, drivers and different APIs on consoles thats easier from what I've read, so we overcome that shortfall by basically brute forcing things with power, if you want to read more about that, look up the changes between DX11 and DX12, the simplified version is DX12 is trying to make it more like consoles with better low level access to the hardware for more performance and efficiency. but I'm no expert so please don't take what i say literally i suggest reading up on it yourself.
You know every game you mentioned is literally made for console. Not to mention many of these games cannot run on high graphic settings and above 30 fps at the same time, neither are they perfect or bugfree too. Train sim world is a game developed for PC and then ported to consoles. The entire game feels more accessable on PC while games like Forza feel better on console. Its not my opinion but a fact as you can see that the game runs way better on PC while consoles have huge performance issues, even on Gen 9.
It's true, that game development is more easy on PC. But like I said before (if you like it or not) there is a reason that TSW is on consoles. And it's definitely not charity from DTG for console players. It's about economic figures. Because there will be no TSW like you know it without the massive console sales.
This is just plain factually wrong. Is starfield that I’m playing at this very second 30fps? Nope. Ghost of Tsushima? No. I can play forza on 60 if I like or 30 quality mode, both look great. Spider-Man is 60. All of these games have tailored modes to adjust your experience which is what tsw misses.
Going back to my gnarly old GTX1650, not installed at the moment but fairly certain Forza 4 ran quite smoothly with quite acceptable settings in the graphics options.
One thing from this statement is wrong, wow. But they are made for console, tsw is not so there is your explaination.
The ( now discontinued ) 1650 is still a very popular card and runs all but the most exacting AAA games well at 1440 and 1080. It's only real limitation is that 4GB of VRAM.
That's because making TSC into a console game would not be possible. The game would essentially have to be remade
The whole PC vs Console arguments by some shouldn't even be happening. All players regardless if they play on Gen 9 or PC should be able to enjoy the game without performance issues and reduced content. Yes there are very powerful PC's but components to make those PC's cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Consoles offer convience to those who don't want to spend so much money on a PC or PC components hence why most gamers are on console. I have a Gaming PC but often just end up mostly playing with my Series X due to the convience There are more powerful games than TSW that run just fine on Gen 9 which just points to TSW's poor optimization. The fact that TSW 5 has been plagued with so many problems is unacceptable regardless of the system someone uses
Since around 66% of users run TSW on console, it is patently absurd to assert that DTG has no interest in maintaining support of the widest array of playable machines. It has a direct effect on their bottom line. Just about all games (or simulations) are constantly pushing the envelope in terms of platform requirements, because both devs and users are always looking for improvements - would you still really want to be using the original version of TSW? I am not a dev, but I have been involved with PCs since they came out from under a stone here in Boca Raton and unlike so many of the trolls on this forum, I am willing to accept that Matt and his cohorts are acting in good faith. That is so, even if I share in some of the frustrations around communication, optimization and long-standing unsquashed bugs.
DTG and the 3rd parties say always the development of TSW is much more difficult and complex than TSC. That means development of TSW is much more expensive than for TSC. And if you have higher costs, you have to have a compensation. And that compensation and perhaps a bit more are additional sales. And exactly the sales on consoles are that additional sales. It's pure economy, no rocket science.
Quick update. Initial testing of the current changes seems to be showing some good (fairly sizable) improvements in memory consumption on console. We've got builds with the PC beta team starting this weekend and probably for the next week or two to evaluate if we've broken or reduced quality anywhere across the catalogue. Meanwhile, the team will continue to see what else they can find. We also need to widen the benchmarking next to more routes to see how other routes benefit from the changes so that we can get a more accurate handle on the delta. Still, good progress to end the week on. Will continue updating as there's news. Matt
Thank you very much for your information Matt. Perhaps the dream of an improved Munich - Augsburg and SPG timetable becomes true.
This is great news - thank you Matt. Sounds like the update may also time favourable with the summer break, so a good opportunity to try some recently released DLCs potentially!
First step is testing on PC as we can't easily test on Xbox - in fact it can't get to Xbox testers until it's not far off ready to go. It'll get time there, but it needs to be in a place that it's not got any obvious gotchas, hence the first round of testing on the PC. We can't test externally on PS5 as there's no way to get beta access in the same way (needs an entirely separate upload of the entire game which is a ridiculous amount of work) - but we do test on PS5 internally. Generally Xbox testing finds most things though that would be found on a PS5 so it's actually not a big deal. Anyway that's the roadmap - testing on PC to see if there's any unexpected side effects, review, continue to add more, and at some point we'll start pulling the changes that seem good over to xbox beta builds for them to provide feedback on, and if that looks good, it's candidate for release. Matt.
Can you not used the Xbox Insiders Hub App on Xbox for Beta testing like other Games? i know That Trainz World Tour doing Xbox only testing before there Release, but You need Access per mail to See This Beta Version in the App to Download on the Xbox Store
