To justify TSW 6, they would need to do 4 routes instead of 3, to be honest. Germany: Anything in Berlin UK London to Cambridge USA, Washington, DC to Baltimore The last TSW core theme was centered around world-class cities, and I'm hoping for TSW 6 to have a Capital city theme.
Okay, I'm going to actually throw my hat into the ring for a UK suggestion. I would say something GWR is most likely but I'm going to go for a complete curveball and enter into East Anglia with Cambridge to King's Lynn with a Great Northern 387. Okay, now I think about it that's probably not ambitious enough for a flagship title release route... so probably GWR then
I don't see it happening unless DTG gets MARC licensing or drops their unbranded stock policy. Though at least MARC's rolling stock is mostly covered by other roads (MP36 and Multilevel's) so DTG doesn't need access to their equipment.
On second thoughts, maybe not GWR, the big annual release has more than once introduced a new TOC into the fold for the UK, maybe somewhere completely different then.
Well, DTG is quite willing to use unbranded stock in TSW ( see WCMLS). They also used unbranded MARC stock in Baltimore-Washington on TSC.
I have a suspicion that Brandon may be building Baltimore - Washington route for TSW6. As for the British content, I will only accept the modern one like 800/755 (maybe)
I have a feeling they had no choice about the WCMLS unbranded 350 though, LNWR seems to have pulled out at the last minute.
I don’t see how a modern era route that’s the same as the status quo of other DTG releases would be a special way to celebrate Railway 200 - It would be extremely underwhelming... The IETs really aren’t anything special and we already have the Azuma which is essentially the same thing in a different livery. They would be much better off doing something historical if celebrating the history of the railways is the aim. The return of steam traction in TSW with upgraded steam physics would be something actually fitting of such an occasion, or introducing something that’s actually iconic like the Deltics.
They might secretly acquire MARC licensing as a surprise, but Amtrak alone is enough, and add the Avelia Liberty on a free update when it starts operations.
I don't think it would be, I can already see players complaining about missing MARC services if DTG does that section with only Amtrak and CSX layers. Remember how badly NYC-Trenton was received on release?
But the Azuma we have currently have a small engine for diesel, only for emergencies and depot movements, this means they can't go at 160 kph, the IET's have a bigger engine for higher speed and is nice to drive whit both power mode at line speed, i would use It on SEHS whit scenario planner
Where though? West Highland-too quiet Far North-too quiet Highland Mainline too quiet That leaves a Glasgow or Edinburgh based suburban route.
Aberdeen to Edinburgh Aberdeen to Inverness And anyways they don’t need to have too much traffic like the two core us routes only have like a 100 services
Edinburgh to Markinch already done. Extensions are rarer than hens teeth. Dundee to Aberdeen? Maybe but perhaps too long for TSW. I reckon Aberdeen to Inverness would fail Lampoil. Springburn to Milngavie more likely. Or something similar.
Aberdeen to Dundee is only 57 miles Aberdeen to Inverness has interesting stuff like single line track for sections and would allow them to add the far north line at some point
Maybe a south west of Glasgow network. Gourock, Largs and Wemyss Bay. The Class 380 is massively under utilised. However somehow I feel part of the big sell the stakeholders are looking for requires a bit of a mainline run, in the annual “big one”. Even if you ran out to Ayr, still pretty much stop/start.
I'd love to see the CML with either the 67 or 68. We really could do with modern mixed traffic locos in the game.
So... UK: GWR, TPE and NT are all great candidates! I don't think they'll go for anything SWR or Greater Anglia at the moment, given GBR settling period. I think they'll surprise us, expanding WCMLOS: Windermere (stops already marked) & Heysham (future SHG Nuclear Pack?). Obviously alongside a new 1st gen DMU! DE: I have no idea... Maybe Berlin, Ba-Wü or Black Forest. Something ÖBB this time? We'll see! US: I think we'll get a 2nd class railroad this time. Alaska? There's a real chance they'll switch to another country this time (remember the Romanian developer who joined 3rd party last year and hasn't been heard from since?)! Will come in September, that's for sure .
One has to wonder if 'Railway200' will be any influence over this years UK 'flagship' route... But then again DTG doesn't really dip its toes in heritage or retro themed routes anymore. However, I don't known if Liams retro livery HST pack is going to play apart in any other content outside of the GWE remaster it is intended for. Could be used on another potential GWR route? My dread is the UK route builder beginning with 'R' that seems to be building DTGs UK content at the moment. I pray a repeat of WCMLS and all the issues and poor quality that went alongside it is not repeated this year. If feedback has been genuinely listened too that is.
Standard now is hundreds of services. With token freight. The fact that most are identical is lost on the lampoil thing. I would rather have a dozen or so West Highland trains than 1000 Cathcart Circle services.
Same here. You can get round the Journey Mode thing by having the same run in different seasons. Taking the 0600 from Glasgow to Mallaig across Rannoch Moor a completely different proposition in January than August.
Me i want too see something like extansion of route are now in TSW GWML and Dusseldorf- Dortmund for example (expansion of HRR)
Without commuter rail that section of the route is too boring (boring even with it, imo, but i digress). The unbranded stock cat is out of the bag, as mentioned above. DTG should embrace it IMO- MARC, SEPTA, and Metra clones, let's go! If they can acquire the license later and patch it in, even better.
Pretty sure that was more-so the case that the license was pulled at the last minute, and with it being pretty much ready they couldn't just scrap it. The only other time they did it was with Rivet's Island Line 2022 which supposedly people weren't happy with the fictional SWR livery.
I personally think for UK it'll be a modern Great Western Main Line but extended to Oxford, with the class 345, 387, and 800. Wouldn't be my first choice by any stretch of the imagination, though I'd be worried if we get an SWT route because console players might have to suffer a reduced timetable and an empty Waterloo. For the US I at least hope it'll be the Hudson line. I don't play USA routes much but this one would have very interesting scenery, like the Bannerman Castle for example. Germany I feel is quite difficult to predict, but I wouldn't mind something out of Munich or Berlin.
Looking at things logically on uk routes if it’s cross country we will get about 70 to 80 miles, if there is a large urban area up to 45 miles. With the remaster on the way I don’t think we will get an extended GWE. My guess is we will get something like Exeter to Plymouth, or Bristol to Cardiff
I have to agree. Basically a Zwollen- Groningen type route, straight and flat with just a few stations. Would be somewhat more engaging if you run it out to Perryville or, better still, do the Camden Line instead of the Penn Line or even do both, since they're fairly short.
Also a feeling for Edinburgh to Newcastle, with the 91’s/DVT’s in a starring role! North Berwick branch included! 380/385’s for North Berwick layers, the SR 158 for the Tweedbank layer. Perhaps the deluxe edition will come with an unbranded IET (Lumo) or a Voyager! Both LNER and ScotRail like to play ball with DTG, so I could see them making a reappearance so soon!
A dark horse contender for the US could be something like Pacific Surfliner. They already have LAUPT and the surrounding area modelled and no doubt it would be a crowd pleaser, particularly going all the way to San Diego.
For Germany I would say Hamburg-Hannover with the high-door Dostos (Metronom+BR 146) and some new freight cars. As a separate addon locomotive, I would say ICE 2.
I would like to see that section, including the high level bridge for reversals, but wouldn’t really want to see an unbranded loco as the deluxe loco. It’s fine for added AI, but that’s as far as it should go IMO
If they're going to do anything amtrak, let it be something like the P42 or Siemens charger locomotives so at least you can take and place them anywhere you like via Freemode spawner.
Not a prediction as such, but still hoping for the LTS, Charing Cross to Hastings, or Liverpool Street to Ipswich...
You wouldn't be able to have both Lumo and the Class 91s to Edinburgh. Class 91s haven't ran north of York since the IETs started regular service.
77.08 miles Swansea-Bristol parkway Set in 2019 Rolling stock: Class 158 GWR 2/3 cars sets Cardiff central-Bristol parkway (Class 165/166, Class 43 HST, Class 387) drivable layers from GWE remaster* Bristol parkway-Cardiff and Bristol parkway-Swansea Class 800/802 GWR Bristol parkway-Swansea Class 175 EX arriva trains wales/TFW Swansea-Cardiff (Class 150/153 TFW) drivable layers from Cardiff city line* Cardiff- Swansea (Class 142 TFW) AI layer at Cardiff central when released* Just a few examples of rolling stock along the route.
Probably something gwr out of Cardiff or the other direction from Reading, if the speculation multiple people have about the renewed gwr licence is for more than just Liam's HST pack is on the money. I say out of Cardiff or Reading as a lot of routes recently have shared stations for route hopping (Preston, San bernandino, Frankfurt, upcoming ats Manchester route etc...)
It'll be a London route set in the current day (or near enough) with a one handle DMU being the main traction, it'll have a subpar timetable and Rivet will have worked the majority of it.
A bit off-topic but they will soon. Supposedly they will do a single run a day to Newcastle in the December 2025 timetable.
Matt stated they have no plans for PS at this moment from this comment on someone's personal project from the PC editor threads.
