Changing the terminology doesn't fix the value problem for Frankfurt (half a) S-Bahn. It's still 60% for the same price as 100%. This attempt of deceiving customers means I'll no longer accept what you say on face value at all. No more day 1 purchases. I'll be waiting to see how you attempt to gaslight customers.
I'm no defender of DTGs, but they have been pretty transparent about the issue from the start... They haven't deceived anyone. Don't get me wrong I think Gen9 should have the full time table as there's no reason for it not to. It's DTGs own ongoing optimisation issues and core issues that are causing the reduced timetable for the S Bahn... However there does seem to be a commitment and positive news in improving it, so fingers crossed once those issues are resolved the full time table and AI may come to S Bahn... One still hopes once the optimisation and core issues are overcome that the full WCMLS time table and upgrades we were promised coming up for a year ago are implemented on Gen9! As I say I'm not defending DTG as I have been a critic of theirs for the last 8 months, but I think it's unfair to say they haven't been honest about the reduced timetable and AI on S Bahn for Gen9 consoles players.
Changing the wording from Reduced to Standard is literally attempting to deceive people. What sounds better? Standard or Reduced? What makes you feel like you're getting more?
I don't like this word, as it's too informal but chill! The sole fact that dovetail showed both timetables and labeled them in the preview just shows their transparency. Call me a "fanboy" but if enjoying a company's hard work is being a "fanboy" then you have your own terminology completely F'ed up!
They had zero choice in the matter. They’re already dug themselves a PR disaster hole. It was better for them to show both.
Yes it is quite a big difference in terninology. I see where they are coming from as Matt said on the stream almost 80% of players are on console, so technically that would be the normal/ standard as the vast majority will have just that timetable and a low minority will get the full. But I do think its as shady as the big reveal was 5 months ago to the day.
Keeping it as reduced would be transparent. This is to fool unsuspecting consumers. You can defend the game, don't defend awful practices...
Half empty: Only PC users get to enjoy the full timetable, while consoles are being docked 40% of the timetable through no fault of their own, with no reduction in price. Half full: There's a standard timetable, at the standard price, that can be run by everybody, while the minority percentage of PC users with beefy enough systems can also enjoy a 67% bonus in available services at no additional cost. Take yer pick.
You forgot to mention the advantages of the standard. You are not allowed to use dynamic weather, photo mode, play only with clear weather, otherwise your textures will be blurry. And most importantly, enjoy the beautiful railway track without railway traffic. I would call it HMA2.
"Reduced* got changed to "standard", it's still almost half the services that PC has but still being charged the same. That is despicable.
I don't care about the price of the DLC. Even if they gave the DLC a 50% discount, I still wouldn't buy it. I'm not interested in such a product.
You know the pricing did not change for consoles because the ongoing improvements for memory usage on console could lead to the full TT being released at a later point. If the price would be reduced by 40% as you suggest, then it would be completely unfair if console players receive the same amount of content for a lower price just by waiting a month longer. Matt is already updating us with insights of the memory improvements once or twice a week, which seem to have a rather high visible effect. I dont know how long it really takes but i think it has a rather high priority for them.
If and that's a huge if console players get the same timetable as PC....then charge the same. Until that happens, it should be reduced...sorry, it should be standardised.
No its not, as the timetable for the BR430 goes from midnight 03 to about 0307 the following day (abliet they are ecs moves to or from the depot), but the 430 has just over 24 hours of timetable services. So no not false advertising. Although I have seen more action at the Bingo afternoon at the OAP Care home than on the route!! As per whether Dovetail deem the route for the Consoles as Reduced or Standard, to me its reduced and always will be. Hentis
why would it? PS only has 1 timetable. its just treated as any normal TSW timetable, it just has less services than the one on PC
Just pointing it out that the buyer isn't getting the same product as PC players. It also has almost half the amount of services as on PC.
No it shouldnt. The price itself isnt only for the timetable. You cant say you get only 60% of the content even tho its not true(not your statement but the overall view of console players here). A reasonable reduce of the price looking at the TT would be like 3 bucks less than normal. Dont get me wrong, im not a fan of this reduced TT thing either even as a PC Player, but 600 services is already enough to ask for the price for this large network route. I was already waiting for a 40 bucks tag on it so its better as expected. Other issues with the route are core problems which the route cannot be blamed for.
With hindsight I do wonder whether DTG should have just postponed or cancelled the release until such time as they came up with an effective solution, whether route or core based. But then of course the £/€/$ signs were rolling in the eyes of the studio executives who no doubt declared, “Cancellation is not an option”. I just hope for the sake of the console players this doesn’t end up following the pattern of previous flawed releases, whereby the problems go round the Dovetail Flywheel a few times, then all of a sudden the route has received its projected returns, refund claims are at an acceptable level and it’s quietly shuffled off to the “past” DLC bucket in the corner…
600 services? I watched British ace on Xbox and about two trains passed him in 20 minutes of play on a busy commuter route. I’ve seen more trains than that on Munchen Augsburg!
But as a PC player you're getting the whole lot, Console players aren't despite paying the same amount. That's all there is to it at the end of the day. We're effectively paying more for less.
Oh for god sake, have a day off. If console players aren't getting the same deal as PC Players, it should say this, especially if the price is the same.
hey man maybe you should have a day off yourself. this topic seems to be really stressing you out but you're right, the store should have a big banner saying "Dont buy this, its inferior to the PC version" that will make it sell
Yea tbf it doesn’t seem common for store pages to outline differences between platforms, related to any game, not just TSW. I wish it were common practice but it’s not. Usually you need to find out via other media/press releases etc.
Thank you for agreeing with me, I know you think you're being sarcastic but it's inferior to the PC version and it should be mentioned as such so people spending their money know what they are buying.
I agree and it’s that reason alone I wouldn’t buy this route as it currently stands. The route should’ve been delayed so they could’ve improved the console timetable. I can’t remember the streamer, but I was watching one and during one of their runs, maybe 2-3 trains passed him. All the depots looked empty too. That’s not acceptable if you’re charging the product at full price.
Looking forward to Nintendo setting the pace by putting a prominent note on every trimmed-down Switch game in their store that there's a more complete version elsewhere for the same price.
Yes changing that terminology has spin doctor all over it. Most people dont follow the forums and hence wouldn’t know about the history. Standard sounds like normal, a level above reduced.
Exactly. So when the description promises a busy and bustling route (just read it) it doesn’t match the description.
Since I haven't seen anyone mention it yet I think it is important to note that even on PC you will not see the "official count" (whatever that means) if you don't own all the DLCs used as layers. For example, if Frankfurt S-bahn is your first DLC then you'd probably see close to what is in the reduced timetable (don't quote me on the exact details since I don't know exactly, I just know that a lot of the extra AI is stuff like Frankfurt-Fulda vehicles, NRM 101, ICE-T from Frankfurt-Fulda, NRM 425 etc).
At least console players knew they were getting less. Not much, but it's something at least; they didn't lie or lead them to believe otherwise. That's about the only good thing, that they were upfront about it.
Wow...you can't keep up with your own nonsense. 1000+ services is the official count of services. You see how this works?
Being able to use layers from routes I’ve purchased is one of the selling points of the game. The whole point of that eco system narrative is that you add value over the long term. So I’m not sure how having turned off layers compared to other platforms is seen as parity.
Maybe try to read my post first and then you will understand that i never talked about the PC timetable. Hopefully you start to think before insulting others in the future.
I miss the phrase from the marketing professionals and hobby marketing professionals for us console players: "Less is more"
