Silly us, not checking TSW5 for TSC update news.
The contempt and abandonment is palpable.

My guess is that the announcement will be of a fix of the bugs introduced by the last update and then the product will move to a curated status; i.e. we'll sell it to anyone who wants it, but it's now officially a museum piece.

My advice to anyone who's got 3rd party DLC that hasn't come through Steam, is that you download the latest version of everything and make sure you are backing it up locally. I think some of the the 3rd party developers that haven't successfully moved to TSW will start to close over the next year, so don't assume your products will still be available or that installation keys will work in the future.

I still wish it becomes open source someday.

I got the exact opposite impression. They say they are working with new developers and even producing a route in a previously neglected country.

No sense in tinkering with the game code for the sake of it, but that does not equate to abandoning it IMO.

I wouldnt have minded if they fixed the headlight issue where the flares pop in rather close that was bought in with the last core update, plus i think they were going to look into the bug where only the couplers show if the train was sitting still for a period of time, that would have been cool as well but all said it is in the best state it ever has been so that is cool.

As long as you don't add an "s" to one of those words...

Lol, would certainly make it less of a useful saying. The devil really is in the details.

Apparently the update will drop the year, reverting the name to TS Classic. they’re going to start bundling 3rd party routes as the core route package

    3 routes

    US: Saluda grade
UK: Chatham main - Blackfriars to Dover (pity it wasn’t Wherry lines by AP)
    DE: Konstanz - villingen

It'd had have to be the Steam version of it, which is the now outdated original version, not the updated version available from AP

There's an update patch available from AP that is compatible with the steam version.

I don't think it'd be popular among a majority that buy from Steam that the route they got with their game had to be updated from a different source, and you have to pay for it as well....

Tone can also change a sentence. For example, "I'm going to have an active day with my family" or "I'm going to have an...active day with...THE FAMILY!" *with creepy music at the end and wide eyes*
I doubt Wherry would make it unless they agree to put the updated version on Steam, and DTG would want to retire the original and update everyone to the updated one without extra cost perhaps as a new route offering instead of charging to patch the original product. Look at Suburban Glasgow's Airdrie extension to see how accurate this statement is, charging the upgrade for a brand new route ID but still requiring the original as a separate route. So the 5£ upgrade could make it over, but it would not update the route; instead, it would be a brand new route, which by now messes up everyone's scenario folder at ATS. Won't update on Steam ever at this point.

Oh, and then they have to still have some kind of 37 on Steam that AP doesn't offer. Or something else.

The demise of TSC and the Steam library. Most of the best stuff is 3rd party. Not buying direct from 3rd Party can have you miss out on other possibilities (e.g extended routes from RSSLO). I keep my eye open from other sources these days. I have most of the Steam offerings and nothing new is coming from DTG. I have no desire to procure any more TSW.

I still need to get the Dunblane and Alloa route for the purposes of Network ScotEast when I finally find a discount in time to jump on at ATS, then take advantage of the discounts while I can. The conversion is so bad that I need that initial buy also discounted. Someday, I will get it, but for now I am checking all the requirements for everything and making sure I am ready with all Steam items and all free downloads in tow.

DTG Jamie is the core stream recording for TSC releasing today? It was scheduled for 2pm EST but I can't find it on youtube/twitch?

Obviously, if it's not there, something changed. Things come up. Flexibility is a thing. It will show eventually.
