It's a shame nothing ever came of the promised updates to Blackpool Branches to add the 87 as AI, can always hope they were waiting for the 86 I suppose.

In a perfect world they would add a weekday timetable for Blackpool (the current one is weekend) which matched the Preston-Carlisle one so we could route hop off the Class 87 and pop to the seaside on an awaiting Pacer.

It's starting to seem to me that this whole add-on is just a scam and warming up the fans of the Class 86 for money, I'm very wary of this release now//

Bit of a long stretch, but I'm wondering if they'll use the funds gained from the 86 to update Blackpool Branches.

Could be they'll do that if the 86 sells well.

How is it a scam? No one's been led to believe anything other than what we've been told.

It's been made clear that the 86 doesn't add any new services, as the ones that should be an 86 are covered by the 87.

No ones being scammed, and JT don't strike me as the sort of people to do that.

    Fully agree.

A scam is if you hand over money for something and don't get the service or goods you paid for. Or it falls apart after one use.

No one is being forced to buy the add on if they don't want it and if you don't want to pay the admittedly slightly high price then wait for a sale.

JT charge more for their content. Price is what the market will bear, no more and no less. JT have found that customers will pay more for their high-quality DLC, so they charge more. Commerce 101.

Yeah, got no idea what would make this a 'scam', charging more than you think is not in the slightest bit misleading, and they have been very upfront about what this pack does and doesn't include as far as I'm concerned.

It’s also because the market for BR blue era content is smaller than that for most of the content that’s made for TSW. A few people here won’t believe that (they haven’t believed it any of the many previous times they’ve been told) but it’s quite easy to understand why trains from so long ago are not the kind of thing a lot of the younger players are interested in buying. It’s a market that will shrink as more time goes by. DTG won’t even touch it.

Must have been a posh one if it was Maxpax, it was a common wheeze to wash the Maxpax cups out and reuse the cup with your own teabag/milk and pocket the difference!

To be honest I think £20 is pretty fair for what you actually get, remember it is not just the 86 but the "Coffins" and Vern's Buffet Car as well. I suppose you could argue that since the JT routes "only" cost £30-35 originally that this add-on should be lower in price but not by much.

I adore WCMLoS but do currently struggle with the will to use it simply because of the use of 87s with early Mk2s on all of the cross country services, the arrival of this add-on will fix that and for me at least will give the route a big boost. I know many, particularly Vern, have been waiting (not very quietly might I add) for the RMB however I've been waiting for the Coffins to come to TSW so it has it's pluses for a variety of us cranks :)

They have said that the 86/2s were not really used on freight so the 87s will stay on those diagrams, that's a bit naff in my opinion as at speed an 86/2 can look pretty much like any other 86 sub-class to most folks and would be a better substitution - however - since we have now seen that JT are developing the existing BPO Pacer for a modern era perhaps they plan on reworking the 86/2 into other subclasses for a "freight loco pack"?

All that said, shut up, hurry up and take my bloody money!!!!

The 86 will thankfully now substitute for the XC services, and the worn out Mk2As will be replaced with the more appropriate Mk2Fs on the XC runs!

The route was that impressive that I let the 87 substitution on the XC slide as I knew the 86 would come eventually. Extremely excited for the new coaching stock and 86, to finally spice the route up even more with the appropriate rolling stock and traction on XC services.

Doesn’t look like it’s coming next week otherwise some sort of streaming preview would have been in the Announcements section for what is happening.

The loco and coaches look good quality, but £20 is too steep for a loco that adds little extra gameplay. I'll wait until it's £15 and then it's a definite purchase

The price policy is somewhat reminiscent of the drinking water trade, at least here in the Czech Republic, the lower the consumption, the more expensive ..... sales are definitely falling, so it's slowly spiraling upwards ......

When it pops up ready to be purchased I'll be there to slap it straight into my collection to keep the DLC lump attached to the game fully complete.....

That is a bit sad tbh.. Even though the timetable is massive, at times, it's almost like very little trains run

What we don’t know and no one from JT or DTG is saying, is whether the Class 86 will get its own Journey Mode.

I think that's more an issue of the chosen time period.

The route is a lot busier nowadays than it was back then.

There was a lot more relief and extra traffic back then but yes no clockface timetables but better links cross country. WCML had an Inverness train in the day time for example.

Being really picky, the roof height in the centre vestibule of the RMB is wrong, it should be the same height as the ceiling above the buffet counter as that is where the water tank finishes. Also one of the RMB toilets should be fitted with a 21 key lock with a silver keeper as that was the dedicated stewards/staff toilet!

21 keys? I hope the toilet visits weren't ever urgent.

Sorry 21 key (as its known in north east england) or the BR number 2 key - high appropriate, is the key that opens coach end doors, buffet cars and staff toilets.

I was under the impression that Cargo Line Vol.4 was releasing before the Class 86 pack.

From what I’ve gathered both don’t have a release date, I wouldn’t be surprised if both come out at the same time

I’m hoping the week 2 of June the potential release window, why would they post a coming soon article, video and reveal the price only to release it over a month later? Usually info comes out week or 2 before a release.

cargo line vol 4 will be released on 5th june
btw, what's the point in having a release announcement article (with price announcement) without a release date? lol

Probably not going to pick it up as just subsitutes for services already done

The fact that they are not new services isn't a problem in my book - if the 86's services were new, it'd mean they were missing from the original timetable, and that that timetable would have been incomplete. This adds variety to the route, and rolling stock that can be used elsewhere.

I think people forget that the services that 86s are intended for are already in the game... The 86s intended timetable services are currently substituted with the Class 87.

Also people would be moaning if there were missing timetable services in the original release... But yeah, the 86 doesn't need to have extra services as the services it's intended for already exist!

I think people don't realise timetables were very different in BR days. Now it's all about frequency and then it was about servicing different destinations and connectivity. The way to put more trains would be extra freight and relief trains, which would be perfect for an 85....I think now only something of that nature would get a reinstall.

I do wonder if their next route is Preston-Crewe (to get more use out of the 86 + 87 of course) if they would include an 85 as the route's loco. It's wishful thinking of course :)

Yes exactly, not just a high detailed and thoroughly built locomotive, but equally highly detailed and thoroughly built Mk2Fs. If JT really wanted too, they could of sold them as separate DLC, so for £19.99 thats a pretty damn fair price!

This looks great, Im certainly gonna be buying this, I am guessing we will see the Class 85, and the Class 81 too, in the future.......... I know 82/83/84 were not as popular as I don't think that there was many built of them, but if I remember rightly, there was of the class 85 and 81.

Reminds me of my days at Euston Station ion the 70s

So it looks like the 86 won’t be coming until later next month unless they do the preview in the release week which I think is unlikely, this makes me wonder why they released all this info if it still a month or 2 out

I wonder if there's been a delay with it.

I don't mind the wait as I know with JT it'll be worth it for me.

    It's just odd.
