Just some screenshots I wanted to share of my walk along the NTP railway, from the Leeds end, an excursion taken to clear the line of logs like the one below.. shared for no other purpose than because I am finding just walking the route to be quite a fun experience exploring and noticing the details that often get overlooked while driving. I hope you find these images pleasant too. Deighton
I did that not long after I got it. Certainly an experience. I found the trains passing close to me quite a thrill.
This looks infinitely more interesting and worthwhile than "Mastery". Is this an official scenario, etc.? If so please tell me how to access it; if not, please give me some how-to information. Thanks for the heads-up.
Pick a route, go to Timetable mode and choose Spawn Walking, the first "train" icon. It then takes you to a map with possible starting locations.
Its probably not everyones cup of tea but im finding it pleasantly relaxing. Caels post is much better than I could have described. Spawn at Leeds and just head off along the track. 9 on the keyboard is useful for checking map. Its a nice way of passing an hour or two and if you leave the game at a station you can spawn at that station next session. Also Ive discovered posters of the route, newspapers etc at each station in addition to removing logs from the line. All thats missing is a yellow vest and hard hat for a 3rd person view..
I walked like crazy before because I didn't know you can just spawn anywhere. It was more fun that way, to be honest. I wish I didn't find out about this feature
Hey Rob, Ive just been through! I saw a model railway in 'Railway Modeller' of the entrance to it with the waterfall/aqueduct- a very distinctive feature. Tunnels have a distinctive ambience all of their own.. not entirely a pleasant one either! I won't lie, I was glad to get out the other end In the meantime the journey continues..
There's some great screenshots there! Are you using anything to change any shaders or lighting because they look better than what I see when I play on Ultra. They also look really sharp so I'm guessing 4K?
Hey Reeon, Thanks so much for the very kind comments. Its just Reshade concentrating on colour and balancing the sharpening a little, 200%. Not 4K Im afraid, 1920x1060 standard monitor. Its taken quite a while to get the balance right with it though, at least to my satisfaction. It runs pretty well even on my i5, GTX 1060 with 16 gig. Its a fairly good processor on a budget. i5-4440 @ 3.10 Ghz.. socket is obsolete though so my next upgrade is going to be the big one- new build from the ground up.
Thanks Michael, that's very kind. Im having a blast walking the route to be honest Its strangely immersive and makes me feel super fit.. I have a book downstairs that Ive had since I was a boy- Impressions of Steam. The effect of those photos on me has never really faded and I still love the visuals around railway lines. Its a unique environment.
I also enjoy walking the route you get to see so much more than you would driving a train. That is not to take away from driving the route that in its self is also great.
Sunscreen You need one of these to be added to the game. It'll save your legs. I'm enjoining your route walk. I've walked for miles myself as well!
I not only walked miles up and down Tees Valley, but also carried 35 electric installation boxes along the way. Sometimes I just stuff them into some poor 101's cab though
I think that if we get the content editing tools is will be feasible to create track walk scenarios. Can be awesome, guided tour along Aschaffenburg yard, exploring the viewpoints in RSN, visiting illegal parts of the route by using the holes that prevent you now to go there ...
I like this stuff... I'm on PS4 and free roaming exploration is a big part of my game time. I also like to play as a passenger, sitting and watching the landscape go by... Quite immersive and relaxing, especially with new, more detailed routes...
So, we pick up the journey after a couple of days rest at Mossley. Another beautiful day for our log clearing track team.
'Managed Decline'- the realities of the industrial situation as the once proud cooling towers lie dormant, forcing many to leave and seek employment elsewhere. The logs wont clear themselves though, and so we must press on..
Yep, i wonder how you get these bright and deep colors set with an NVDIA RTX, or are these pics Photoshopped ...
I use Reshade. No photoshopping- all in game effects. Its free- just google it or link below. Lots of options to get the look you want I use it with almost every game i play. https://reshade.me/ I adjusted it again this morning so now the look is again ever so slightly different, various sharpening tools tweaked and colour adjusted slightly. I think Im finally happy with it
Sunscreen I read about that shade stuff A LOT but never tried it, don't know why. Is it possible to export your settings, share it with us for easy import?
Had to use my phone camera. Technical knowledge limit reached as I couldn't take screenshots with the menu open.. Also I cant recommend enough that you pay careful attention to the instructions. There's installation and usage videos on youtube too which I found very useful. The Home button is what I use to open the menu but it may be different on the most recent version.
Sunscreen THANK YOU! That's nice, everything in one place, install tutorial - now there's no excuse to not try that out, too!
Imagine doing that walk in the tunnel with a VR headset and the inevitable trains that will scare the pants off you along the way
Journeys End. Well mine anyway. Someone else's day is just beginning Not quite how it first appears- although we all know that Northerners like a lovely strong, potentially flammable brew, this is, as far as I know and am happy to be corrected on, showing these wagons are equipped with air brakes, not the vacuum type. Im not sure if the DTG is a happy coincidence or not
