We're excited to announce our attendance at The Greatest Gathering, the largest temporary gathering of trains and rail-related exhibits in a generation!

The event takes place between Friday 1 and Sunday 3 August as part of this year’s Railway 200 celebrations.

This three-day, sold-out festival at train manufacturer Alstom’s Derby Litchurch Lane Works, will feature more than 50 iconic vehicles from the past, present and future of the railways and marks the first time in almost 50 years that the rolling stock factory has been open to the general public.

Dovetail Games will be appearing in the event’s STEM Hub with two booths hosting Train Sim World for members of the public to enjoy. This space is designed to be both immersive and interactive, with a focus on inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders by showcasing the breadth of disciplines that power the railway industry.

A line-up of train and locomotive classes scheduled to feature at the real-world event, as depicted in Train Sim World.
Train Sim World 5 features the Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino, which is one of the trains attending the event. Additional content features Derby Litchurch Lane Works (visible in Midland Main Line), LMS Jubliee locomotives and the iconic HST, which are also attending.

Two consoles will be available to play at the stand and keen visitors will also be able to play using a converted professional train driver training simulator with a Class 700 style control desk and real train controls. Additional independent simulators will be at the event utilising Dovetail Games software.

Matt Peddlesden, Executive Producer At Dovetail Games:

'We’re thrilled to be taking part in this once-in-a-generation railway event and sharing the passion, history and love for trains with visitors through our world-leading simulation title.'

Andy Butters, Managing Director of Derby Litchurch Lane Works at Alstom:

'It’s a pleasure to welcome Dovetail Games to Litchurch Lane for The Greatest Gathering. Their presence in the STEM Hub brings a dynamic, interactive dimension to the event – one that perfectly complements our mission to delight railfans and inspire the next generation of railway innovators. As the UK’s only end-to-end train manufacturing site, it’s a privilege to open our doors and showcase the future of rail alongside such passionate partners.'

The Greatest Gathering takes place 1 – 3 August 2025. Tickets are sold out.

If you already have tickets, make sure you pop over and say hi! We look forward to seeing you there.

There was a Class 50 that was being done earlier in TSW. No news on what happened to it.

This is absolutely awesome DTG Jamie bringing the game to lots of new people who would never have thought about a simulator but fit the segment nicely.

The Class 50 would be cool to see. If we get the Settle & Carlisle Line, the Class 50 "Hoover" would be perfect for passenger services on the line. The LNER A4 Pacific would also be awesome to see too.

Would be nice if this was the catalyst to add a Class 50 to the game.

Wouldn't it just. The Class 50 has been a favorite of mine ever since it was part of the Settle-Carlisle in MSTS.

DTG should be building routes and locos like this in addition to the inevitable bus stop commuter routes it's so fond of.

They won't though. They are just Chasing the money now. It's down to third parties like Just Trains to give us the routes we want.

I think you'll find that giving customers what they want is how most successful businesses make money.

Yes, and ignoring a large chunk of customers just to focus on one section is how they tend to lose money.
