Well, OK, but OTOH other German TOD3 stations like Munchen, Hamburg and Bremen all look fine: not brilliant, but not bizarre like Dresden-Chemnitz. And, again, it was normal the last time I played the route, which was long after the last patch to Dresden-Chemnitz (uploaded February 12)

I take it DRA was upgraded to TOD4 at some point?

I went and installed Muff's mod and can confirm what solicitr is showing on this route. The lightening is totally washed out inside the station with the mod installed and fine without it.

That's the thing: they aren't. Cologne, Munich, Hamburg, Lubeck, Bremen are all fine. Not as good looking as stations in TOD4 routes. but certainly not "acid trip" like Dresden/DCZ

yup you can toy a little with the godmode environment or with r.SkylightIntensityMultiplier=0.225 (raise it up)
it is also because of the insane lighting change when you move your camera up and or down
i would rather they had never had done that or with much less effect

It’s been installed since day one so not exactly had the manual out for bedtime reading each night since. :D

The problem boils down to a conflict with Foobian's All Departure Boards mod. Remove either mod singly, the problem goes away; both installed and not only does Dresden go Hunter Thompson, and PIS boards everywhere are now cyan, or sometimes pink, but random crashes occur all tied to a size mismatch in a PIS board at Hamburg (I'm guessing Mutt's re-baking specified a different panel size than Foob used in his mod)

Yeah, it took just a few / several years :)
Which other mod? On that mod page, there is only 1 .pak file.

the only problem with NEW DE PIS (Pixel Foob_NewDEPISpixels_TSW5.pak) is that it increases the load time to the menu with 30 second
as much as i like that mod i have removed that one for that reason

will probably remove the other Foob_DB_StationPIS.pak file too back to standard

The two mods in question are Mutt's TOD4 mod and Foob's departure board mod. They don't seem to get along.
I haven't noticed that Foob's pixel mod makes any difference one way or another.

    Question;

    Would people prefer;

    1) I leave the mod as it is
    2) I revert the TOD3 routes to use TOD3 lighting and have a single version
    3) Make a separate version using TOD3 lighting to sit alongside the existing one

Since im using it on PC Gamepass, where you manually have to copy the settings for each route into the Godmod dynamic.ini to make it work, I guess it does not matter, as long the mod remains functional ALSO for the Xbox PC Gamepass Version as it is right now.

So in the verdict, I would vote for
Option 1 - Leave it as it is.

I use only TOD4 for all the older routes, exception being only night runs when I revert to 3.
For me it's perfect as it is now, love the way older routes look with TOD4 and the lighting enhancements mod presets.

While some ToD3 routes appear better to a degree with ToD4 lighting enhancement added, as dbrunner#4864 stated, reverting to ToD3 for night services, which many would not wish to do, go back a handful of years. I would fuss with reverting when the need would arise, but now I have gotten to a point where "set it and forget it," enjoy the game. It would have been nice if the older routes were revamped with ToD4; this would have made things easier on you and all using the mod. And seeing how instant gratification has become the norm, "just make GO," you can't please all, all the time.

More often than not, it is best to keep it "KISS" But that is not so simple with TSW.

And with TSW__, I have noticed the more complicated it gets, the more it needs tinkering with, I personally have a hard time with "can't", and there has to be a better way, or maybe if this one change I make, it will look better, more often than not I can't let it go, and keep polishing because it does not look good enough. (With the way things have gone as this year started, I have gotten to a point where, just make the best of what you have, it's as good as it's going to get, and be happy with what you have) I have been starting to look at which mods must I have and which can go, at one point, I was about to hit 400 mods, "just one more mod," it will look better, run better.

I thought I could give a good, quick, somewhat simple answer, but I find that I can't. I still like to run TSW2020, So I spent several weeks with a great deal of fussing with the ini settings, taken from your TSW3 & TSW4 ini mods, because it was too dark, I even added Reshade, "sand patch was the hardest to get looking not so dark" I can understand what you have been doing and the time involved. And in my mind, I still think TSW2020 is just not up to par, but I need to leave well enough alone, it's not getting any better, if at all I made it overly bright, and made it worse. I know a bit off track here :)

I did what I said once, I would not do, I got a Series X and have been playing TSW__ & 5 on it more, I had to walk away because I was just not happy with the way things looked, I was letting things get the better of me, with consoles it's plug it in, play & have fun, make the best of you have. Yeah, I know that makes no sense, going from spending weeks on end trying to get things looking better, then going to console gaming, where TSW is just "WoW", is that bright.!

Maybe I should have started here? But after seeing and reading/hearing over the past several years, what many are having an issue with, or not liking this or that, why this or that, or just make it ____ fill in the blank. I would say, provided it's not a great deal of trouble and can be done with the least amount of work as possible.

Polish ToD3 routes to the best they can be.
Polish ToD4 routes to the best they can be.
Sometimes, the quick, simple answer is the incorrect/improper answer, or there really is no simple, quick answer, and that is TSW, there is no quick, simple answer or fix for it. You and the modding community have done some amazing work to make TSW__ a better game there is a lot of spit and polish, and even some things the modding community can't correct. But all in all, TSW__ is much better even with so many mods.

On a slightly-related note, I see that Muff's website has been down now for the last 2 days straight? Anyone know what's up, or would be willing to link the ToDv4 mod from another file host site?

See my post here with the link to the mod; it is working. Remember, if you have an AV that blocks it, it is a false positive.
And if you're unsure, check the URL with Virustotal.com. I use Bitdefender and it did at one time block it, but added to the white list

That is a bit odd, I am looking at it now using Edge,

    Using opera
    upload_2025-6-10_21-47-34.png
I also checked several other ways. With Google browser also
    https://postimg.cc/gallery/DkV2YyNZ
Have you tried clicking the link?
I just downloaded the mod again, but giving out willy-nilly to anyone without consent from Muff, I would not do, nor would I expect it to be given.
There is no alt download site and and if anyone did do that, they would be in some hot water. You can try contacting Muff through here search trainsim.cz

Just FYI, I’m going to make a second version that has the TOD3 routes use the TOD3 settings in the GodMode.sav. I realise it was a bit presumptuous of me to force everyone to switch whether they wanted to or not. The whole thing will be contained in a single zip file and the Engine.ini will be the same irrespective of which version of the GodMode.sav you use.

On that note, I’ve made a tweak to a couple of parameters in the engine.ini that stops the infuriating headlight LOD pop-in on the Class 66 (and I presume the Class 313 as well)

Not sure when I’ll get it released as there’s a lot of copy & pasting to do, but it shouldn’t be too long.

    Best solution probably.
So for gamepass, where you need to copy & paste the godmode.sav values anyways for each individual route, I just can pick either from ToD3 or ToD4 presets.

Thanks, I think that's the best solution too, especially since you made the change to move a lot into engine.ini and thus make the GodMode.sav settings easier to update. I tried using the TOD4 mod on my favourite TOD3 route (BML), but it made the interior of Victoria station look awful and it also started causing Unreal Engine crashes, so I abandoned it. I was happy enough with how the TOD3 routes looked before, sure they're not as good lighting-wise as TOD4 routes, but with your excellent mod polishing them up as best as they can look, it's thumbs up from me.

The new version (v2.3.0) has been uploaded to TSC.

That has involved a fair bit of editing and copy / pasting. I think it's ok but if you come across any issues please let me know. Again, if you switch to the TOD3/4 version you must remember to remove the AllRoutesTOD4 mod from your DLC folder!

His site is back up for me today. Must have gotten caught in an errant DNS black hole (my router upstreams all traffic to the malware-protected CloudFlare DNS host). Sorry for the confusion/concern!

    This is a general comment;

I purposefully took the r.BloomQuality= out of the mod as it was causing some elements of TOD4 trains to look seriously messed up on TOD3 routes. What you're seeing in your original image is default TOD3 lighting.

Changing Bloom to 1 might work fine for this station lighting, but you may well find that if you happen to use a TOD4 loco on the route the lighting will be messed up. This is the consequence of DTG using two lighting systems then using trains across both of them. The lights can only be set up to work with 1 system, not both, and anything else is a fudge / compromise.

I can go back and add the bloom numbers back into the TOD3 routes with the above caveat if people would prefer. In a nutshell though, whatever I do I can’t win. There will always be a compromise somewhere

(I've been doing a bit of experimenting and found that removing the line r.shadow.CSMDepthBias=4 from the .ini file has stopped the stripey shadows I was getting (depending on the time of day and weather, they were far worse than in the screenshot I posted the other day). Whilst I'm sure this will have had an adverse effect on the overall quality of shadows, for me it's a worthwhile trade-off. Hope this helps somehow :) )

Edit: Scratch that, I've just seen the post a few pages back regarding changing the shadow resolutions if not using the Better Shadows mod - turns out that was the culprit!

Unfortunately, I regularly get the following error:
    LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 671]
I’ve tried all presets, but it’s probably something to do with the VRAM.

    My system:
    Ryzen 7800X3D, GeForce 4070 Super, 32 GB DDR5 RAM, M.2 SSD

It only seems to work with the Low preset. All drivers are up to date, and DX12 is enabled.

Have you applied the engine ini and made the necessary additions to it (specific to your graphics card) as described in the manual?

Thank you for your feedback! :)
    You mean this adjustment?
    r.Streaming.PoolSize=
    r.Streaming.MaxTempMemoryAllowed=

I set these to 6000 and 3000, even though my graphics card has 12 GB of VRAM.
I also tried other parameter values – but no change.
After some time, I still get the LowLevelFatalError 671.
The GPU and CPU don’t even seem to be close to fully utilized (according to MSI Afterburner).
VRAM usage is usually between 8 and 11 GB.

Since I’m currently playing a lot of Frankfurt S-Bahn: could it also be route-specific in this case?

This is my Engine.ini file with high preset:

Can you try 8000/4000 and 10000/5000 and see if that helps?

What is the best value for a 24gb card? The one in the manual? Or maybe a bit more? I have a 7900xtx.

i will try it. maybe my system is too weak for frankfurt s-bahn with all that stuff?

edit: same error with 8000/4000. but i think i only get this error on Frankfurt S-Bahn.
It also seems that it basically doesn’t matter what graphics settings I use in-game — whether high, medium or low, the utilization is always about the same.

That’s odd. Do you have any other S-Bahn mods installed? It certainly doesn’t sound like a VRAM issue

Which Nvidia driver are you using?

I’ll check that with the mods.
    Driver version is: 576.52

Edit: i think, maybe it is a dx12/driver issue?

Just rolled back to driver version 566.36, did a short test run – it worked...
I’ll keep an eye on it tomorrow.

The issue seems to be resolved with the older NVIDIA driver. I haven’t had any crashes since then, and the card runs quieter and cooler. Both high and ultra settings are now possible. Thanks for your help!

I haven’t been following this thread but does anyone know what the culprit is which is causing the stripy lines on trains when the sun is at a certain angle and how to resolve this graphical issue? Thanks.
