Hello Dovetail team and fellow train sim fans!

I’m a big fan of Train Sim World, and I have some ideas that could improve the gameplay experience in TSW by making train handling more intuitive, enjoyable, and accessible—while still keeping realism for those who want it. Here’s what I suggest:

    1. Smart Speed Assist (Universal Cruise Control)

Allow players to set a target speed on any train, even if the real train doesn’t have cruise control. The AI would automatically adjust the throttle to maintain that speed. This would make driving long routes easier and less stressful. This feature should be toggleable for players who want a full manual experience.

    2. Auto Braking Assistant

Introduce an optional braking system where the player selects a distance from the stop point to begin braking (e.g., 800m, 500m). The AI would then manage braking smoothly to bring the train to a precise stop. This reduces the need for constant brake lever adjustments and helps prevent rough stops.

    3. Throttle Control Assistance

Some trains require very careful throttle control to avoid overloading or traction issues. An assist feature could help players by smoothing throttle inputs or providing safe throttle zones, reducing the learning curve for sensitive locomotives.

    4. Customizable Assistance Options

Make it possible for players to turn individual assists on or off. For example, keep auto braking enabled but manually control speed. Or choose to receive only notifications without AI automation. This would satisfy both casual players and hardcore sim enthusiasts.

    5. Enhanced Camera and Replay System

Add more camera views, including passenger perspectives inside the train, and cinematic replays. This would greatly enhance immersion and allow players and content creators to capture and share beautiful moments from their journeys.

    6. Smart Real-Time Notifications

Provide optional on-screen notifications to help players know when to start braking, how much braking force to apply, or when to reduce speed approaching stations. This would act as a helpful guide without taking control away from the player.

I believe these features would improve the overall gameplay experience by making train operation smoother and more enjoyable, while still offering the depth and realism fans love.

    Thanks for considering these ideas!

Would like passenger views to come back - it was quite fun driving the HST in the first iteration of TSW from a first class seat :D.
Replay would also be cool - particularly if we could watch it back from a different camera view - watching the train go through a station at speed etc.
That's given me another idea for another camera view - next station, whereby it moves you to the next station you are expected to pass in a suitable pre-designated train spotting position. Becomes functional when the relevant tile is loaded in.
