If the suggestion is that a TSW6 is in the offing then I shall uninstall TSW5 and forget about the whole game.

I think it’s almost inevitable at this point it will be TSW6. Though if the marketing people and those at DTG reading the room have any savvy between them, they will drop the numbered iteration for another title as it will just be a laughing stock otherwise.

The fact there are no routes other than the third party “Maybewares”on the Roadmap and nothing whatsoever in the pipeline from Rivet (god help us DTG turned to them again), are all indications history will repeat itself.

If TSW6 is free then I’ll probably take it as there’s little point hanging on to what will be a rapidly unsupported version, thrown off the Dovetail Flywheel to the forgotten corner along with most of the past DLC. But whether I stump up £40 (or probably more, given the price increases) for the standard or deluxe route bundles, well I will be a lot more picky this time round. Particularly if Rivet are doing the UK route and train and the US is just another low speed commuter bimble.

Something to consider when discussing TSW routes, just how good or accurate are they. I don't know if this video has been posted elsewhere on the forum, it's a comparison between the Midland Main Line in TSC and TSW, Just Trains vs Skyhook Games.

john#5092 This demonstrates perfectly why a seasoned TSC player with lots of content has not much interest in switching to TSW and spending hundreds of dollars/pounds/euros on stuff, he already owns on TSC. Lets not forget the fact that the MML (with all extensions) on TSC is about 10 times the size of the map in TSW.

Indeed, when Midland had been released I posted with one of my photos that Syston had more foliage in real life between the tracks. Skyhook then got in contact with me and actually used my photo to help add to the realism and it was soon added in an update FB_IMG_1749731898829.jpg FB_IMG_1749731906101.jpg

See this is the kind of work I would love to see from DTG/Rivet on CCL. Especially on the abomination that is Whitchurch and other bits of the route. But the feedback thread for that I suspect is being ignored now.

That video is quite out of date now MML is in a much better state now compared to release

Apart from the annual whole stuff to redownload, what worries me a lot is the loading time when you have so many contents. Right now it takes me 7 minutes and we’re on TSW5 so… let’s say in 5 years, it’ll take 15 minutes ?

I already uninstalled it in October just after doing the 1st of the monthly masteries. The soonest I'll come back is likely to check the updated GWE, of course if TSW6 has a free starter edition and the GWE update is also free, instead of being done in the LIRR way, otherwise the earliest I'll think about coming back to TSW would be the release of Tadami line or Class 104 / PFR expansion pack.

I think it's safe to say if Tadami and 104/PFR expansions are ever released it'll be for TSW6 at least.

Lets also not forget how much money the user making the video has spent on enhancers and mods for TSC.

I own TSC with no mods or enhancers and it is a far cry from what this video shows to what it looks like "out of the box". Unlike TSW.

Unless I'm willing to spend a couple hundred dollars on mods to make look as good as TSW.

Just need the AP Weather to get it comparable. JT has done done amazing work in TSC. The full MML in TSC is massive.

Much prefer the JT MML, purely for it's greater scope and accuracy. I don't like TSW graphics anyway, UE for me is not the ideal game engine for a train game. Looks too toy town, i prefer the look of SimRail and DRS built on the Unity game engine. Also prefer the gritty look of TSC, lighting is more natural without any mods or enhancements.

I hope they will do a free version again. I think that people who disagree with TSW6 being released (which includes me) would be silly to not claim the free version when it becomes available.

I will definitely claim the free version of TSW6, if one is on offer. But, as for actually downloading and playing it, I really don't know. We have seen how TSW5 makes even our legacy content run less well than on previous versions. Also, recent updates to TSW5 have seemed to remove content and made a bad situation worse. Who knows how poorly TSW6 will run, and how bad all the old stuff will run on it? Plus, DTG could just keep chopping layers and other content off in the name of "optimization." At least when TSW6 comes out, we can be reasonably sure that TSW5 will no longer receive "updates" that make everything worse.

Besides all that, for console owners we already know that, going forward, we will receive lesser timetables for the same price, especially concerning for Series S owners such as myself, and the ultimate insult when DTG sells you one thing but doesn't deliver, or as we have seen recently sells you something, waits awhile, and then takes it away! I would honestly be okay with TSW5 being the last robust release for console, and I think that is where we are heading.

But, sure, I would take the free stuff.

I kept playing TSW3 until WCMLoS came out, because most of the stuff I wanted to play was available for it. I didn't see the point in upgrading, so I didn't. I think it's fine to have the free version but not play it - I claimed it on every platform even though I only play it on Steam. In fact, had Blackpool Branches and WCMLoS not released I'd still be on TSW3 because there's nothing else really worth playing. My current TSW5 install is almost entirely the JT routes and the layers for them.

I'm careful never to say anything bad about elves. They can cause you to become ill and can ruin what would otherwise be a nice Christmas by bringing you the wrong presents. Santa doesn't have the time to supervise all of them and they are capable of great mischief if you upset them. Stay on their good side and don't make fun of them. You have been warned.

There is good reason for it - the God Mode mod allows the Jeep to be spawned in on any route, and it can break through some invisible walls.

As someone who has purchased all UK DLCs in the past, I've decided to vote with my wallet.

With DTG seemingly focused on suburban commuter runs with modern stock. I'm not buying anymore, they are frankly, boring and unimaginative. If they start to reduce timetables for Console owners but still charge the same as PC owners. I won't buy any doesn't matter who releases it.

If TSW6 is released as a free with no routes like TSW5 was, I'll download it.

But if the UK route fails to grab my attention or has a reduced timetable. Nope.

It’s about time DTG start taking advantage of the PS5 Pro’s power. I don’t want reduced timetables for my routes, maybe the Pro can achieve the full timetables? Never know until some proper testing takes place.
If any routes have limited timetables like S-Bahn I simply won’t buy them.

Dude even players on high end PC struggle. DTG needs to sort their s*it out, otherwise we will stay were we are, no matter the platform.

They struggle, but they’re able to have full timetables, so there’s that.
I want full timetables on console.
The question is can the Pro make this happen?
TSW6 better be PS5 Pro Enhanced.

Since the last patch, now my TSW2 routes are crashing on TSW5. Most runs ends with a crash to the Xbox dashboard. Before the patch I didn't have any issues with Koln - Aachen, or other TSW2 routes. I only have layers from TSW2 active, to mitigate performance issues as much as possible.

I bought Tharandter Rampe this weekend, crashed too multiple times, no layers active. I've asked for a refund and got it, but as it looks now, the core is the issue and not the route.

So instead of fixes, it's getting worse now.

I don't think the PS5 Pro will make the difference between a reduced and full time table. The Pro is more made for a graphics enhancement, CPU and memory is more on par with the standard PS5. Memory is the reason why there is a reduced timetable.

As with the PS4 Pro, only the GPU has been improved. That's why most of the enhancements in games are in the form of resolution boosts or other GPU-related tasks. The timetable will largely be dependent on the CPU, which was not (or barely) changed for the PS5 Pro. In effect, it's the same as the standard PS5.

The only realistic upgrade is the screen percentage being increased so the game is less blurry, but that may cause more harm than good.

I hope that DTG are listening to all these complaints. To me every new release of the main game has more bugs than the previous game and l trust DTG will forget about releasing TSW6 this year and instead work to get TSW5 running properly to the best there is.

There's also the issue that I think Microsoft & Sony mandate that both versions of their titles have the same content on both consoles. You can't release TSW on PS5 Pro and then give 600 services only for that version, both versions have to get the same content. Same is generally true of Xbox, though I believe Microsoft did allow Balder's Gate to launch with multiplayer exclusive to Series X. That said that's only one exception across several hundred titles, and frankly I really doubt raising the bar to the PS5 "Basic" would really help in this situation.

Yeah, on paper it’s more for the graphics boost and faster loading. The extra RAM in the Pro is very minimal, but I’d still like to see what DTG could do with those extra assets. Most PC players are using 16GB of RAM and able to get the full timetables on S-Babn, the Pro gives an extra 2GB of RAM to developers.

On PC you have RAM and VRAM, so it will be more then 16GB in total. On console there is no seperate VRAM and higher res/textures is already consuming more memory.

In one of the last streams, Matt mentioned the amount of PS5 Pro players is low, so I don't see them invest a lot of time into a PS5 pro version.

In all due respect I don’t know how Matt would have assess to this information.
I can imagine a dev under the Sony studios brand would when users are playing the Pro enhanced version of their game.
It just seems a bit “word of mouth” like he’s got those figures from the engagement of users here on the forum, I don’t know how’d he’d know Pro users being low otherwise.
Not to say it isn’t true though, I doubt a lot of people would have upgraded to the Pro yet or will. It took me 7 months to finally cave in, but I’m more using my Pro for other games.

I just don’t buy it. PS5 and the PS5 Pro are pretty much the same device just with the Pro specs enhanced. Does Sony pass on this data to dovetail when people engage on the Pro console? I very much doubt it.
Are Dovetails engagement tracking servers advanced enough to know if a user is on a Pro console? The PS5 and base and Pro are apart of the same ego-system, so I just don’t know how they can differentiate from the two DTG Matt I would really like to know how you collect data on the PS5 Pro console?

There is a thing called a survey where the 1st question is what systems are you playing TSW on?

I suspect that may be where he gets his info from.

100% agree with that, it’s just the data has changed now as the last survey DTG did was last year.

Anyways as I’d like to see an Enhanced version of TSW, DTG are now too busy making their 3 pack route bundle for the TSW6, and recording interviews telling us why TSW6 will be the next best thing since sliced bread.

Maybe the info about the console is send when logging in to your DTG account or there is another telemetry active.

They could have the full and reduced timetables available on both systems, but give a warning to base PS5 players that there may be performance issues. Of course, it wouldn't perform differently anyway for the issues I listed earlier.

Telemetry is used everywhere, one of the cases that surprised me was learning that Yuzu, a Nintendo Switch emulator, actually would track what games you're playing and report back to the emu developers. Actually played a part in its downfall because Nintendo used that data to prove people were pirating Tears of the Kingdom before it actually released. The idea that some bit of telemetry would report specifically note if it's a PS5 or PS5 Pro hardly seems weird to me. There's a million reasons you'd want that data, determining if there's enough demand for PS5 Pro enhancements actually being a very valid one.
Oh, I don't doubt for a second that if it ran whatsoever DTG would've published it. Even if said timetable was running at single digit FPS and it took a literal millennium to load. 100% the console manufacturers don't care if it runs well, just that it runs, period. That full timetable must've been more extremely prone to crash on consoles if DTG felt the need to pull it back.

There are numerous ways to differentiate between a PS5 and a PS5 Pro, including by using the console model number or hardware capabilities, which are likely to be collected in analytics by DTG as a matter of course.
