Hello everyone, Lately there has been a lot of discussion on here about the games performance. Question for the developers and anyone here who knows about game development, would disconnecting features from the game improve some of the performance? For instance, photo mode, conductor mode and the creators club will be removed from the base game but will be available as a free download for people who want it, like EA FC’s commentary language packs.
They aren't related to performance so it would be kinda pointless. Conductor mode is its own mode Photo mode is also its own mode Creators club is also its own thing. Although having more downloads could affect performance somewhat but it wouldn't be that much compared to other things The main things that affect performance is related to graphics, gameplay (like different types of services and layers) and simuation
Well, since I don't use any of those features, removing them wouldn't bother me. Don't know that it would improve performance though, unless not loading them initially would speed things up.
This is a misunderstanding of what causes performance issues. In the case of the language packs for FC 25 and other games, they're separate downloads because they are large. Rather than increasing the size of the game for everyone, it's better in that case to give players the option to download the language they need as required. The presence of the language options does not affect performance. There are games that lock features behind downloads, but this is almost always to reduce the file size of the game. Photo mode, guard mode and the Creator's Club are features that are only there if you go out of your way to use them. They won't affect performance unless you actually use them. The Creator's Club uses the Dovetail Live servers. There have been reports over the years that running the game offline improves performance as it doesn't try to connect to the server, but I have not tested this. It does work for other games though.
I was recently cursed to four straight days with no internet in the house after a storm and from what I saw and felt, there was no change for better or worse to how the game performed at any point.
Good to know. Some games (Just Cause 3 as an example) for perform better offline, but I guess TSW isn't one of them.
