Manchester Commuter Release Date

Just saw Manchester commuter release date 1st July priced at 24.99 but steam players get a 20% discount if they own Glossop line i might have read it wrong. Lots of playable layers on it and Sunday timetable. Looks quite nice.

 

No you didn't read it wrong! Consoles and Epic get shafted. They gave everyone who owned BCC a discount when Glossop released so why not give everyone the same this time?

 

I know im on xbox x so no discount for me if we got the discount i might have been more inclined to buy it on day one.

 

That’s a decent discount so I shall be buying.

 

That’s a kick in the jimmy’s to console players.
£5 more I’ve got to spend compared to PC players.

Xbox players may still get 10% discount after release, but PS5 owner (like myself) won’t get diddly swat.

I’m still buying though, as this route has been on my radar since it was first announced.

 

I'm happy to see a new route that doesn't cost over 30 euros (even though playstation players won't be getting the discount)

 

Xbox only 10% discount if you have game pass and yet you still got to pay for that.

 

It's an easy fix too. After the bs that was Frankfurt S-Bahn, DTG could have took a hit and gave the consoles a 20% off deal for ps+ and GamePass users. Even if it's a short window. Not perfect, but would do the job.

 

Do you not have GP?

I thought it was customary to have that as an Xbox player, or don’t you have any interest in playing any other games on there?

I’m more of a PS guy so I tend to buy bulks of PS Extra 3-months from time to time, I never commit to full 12 month subscriptions anymore as there’s times where I go without playing my consoles for a few weeks due to work.

 

I dont have game pass because 90% of the games I would not play. And paying £15 a month i think it is. Just 10 get miserable 10% discount is not worth in my eyes. But hey thats just me.

 

I doubt the discounts are in their control, probably a Microsoft/Sony thing

 

Well if Steam players get 20% off the regular price, why not reduce the price by 20% for everyone, whether you own Glossop or not? Wouldn't that be fair?
I presume that DTG can set its own price, being the publisher.

 

You can blame the console companies for that.

 

If you look on Cdkeys site they normally do deals. I paid £23.99 a few months ago for 3 months of GP.
The other incentive for GP is have the ability to play online. I play a bunch of mp games on PS5, Aliens Fireteam Elite, Battlefield V, Star Wars Battlefront 2 to name a few.

 

What about Epic, mate? Always forgotten... not even considered!

 

And for those of us on consoles this route will not have achievements/ trophies because it's not available on Gen 8 consoles. DTG will happily abandon a game with broken achievements that are unobtainable but care when you can't have a route on gen 8

 

The worst part of it is Steam players are getting the loyalty discount but us console players who bought S-Bahn are more loyal considering the mess that route is on console

 

I bought the s bahn on day one but dont play it now its so lifeless without everything it gets boring quick.

 

Where have you come by this information?
As that will be a first for them not adding trophies to their dlc in TSW5.

Really. I never knew that as I avoided it completely. That will teach me for not looking at the trophy list.

Yeah Trainiac already filled me in on that. That’s not good.

Going for trophies is what makes me play TSW more than I normally would. I hope S-Bahn was a one off.

 

Usually the achievements for a route come out on SteamDB well in advance of a release so the fact they're not there yet might mean there won't be any for this route.

 

Why is that steam always get really good discounts whilst others get nothing. What is the reasoning behind the discounting.

 

Glossop had a discount on consoles for owners of BCC (on Xbox at least), so it is doable.

 

They are different companies entirely.
Steam gives developers more control over their content.
Playstation and Xbox (SONY and Microsoft) have stricter control over when sales are and what they can contain.
It's really just down to different company policies.

 

We were keen to provide a discount for those that owned glossop unfortunately we were only able to do this via the steam platform
Whilst I can completely understand console players feeling let down there really isn’t anything we can do about it but please understand we did try
The whole gen 8 thing is frustrating as well but we had to balance realism performance and value
And this just wasn’t possible sadly

I fully understand your decision and since we’re dealing with Sony and Microsoft here, steam is more lenient when it comes to those day one discounts.

Can I ask one question though as the information is scarce.

Will your new route have Trophies/Achievements tied to them?

It's not up to DTG to put discounts. It's up to Steam, Xbox and Playstation

 

Yes, but adding trophies was planned and promised by DTG to be added in the next patch a few weeks ago. Still haven't delivered, sadly.

 

Buy it Day One as you will wait a long time for an Xbox discount on this route. Get a discount by buying a discounted xbox gift card cheaply!

 

DTG can organise a lower price with Sony and MS. They've done so before.
