Dovetail Games Train Sim World 5 Game Update - June 23rd Feedback Thread

DTG JD, a statement in the patch notes that says something to the effect "includes other updates related to the game core."

 

I just played a run with the ICE from Fulda to Frankfurt Main Station, and unfortunately – as always – the game crashed shortly before arriving in Frankfurt. I’ve only tried it once so far, but I don’t expect that anything has really changed on the Xbox Series S.

 

Bad, very bad start already. First thing I do is see the gold in the Bremen-Oldenburg journey is gone because now a service has been swapped (takes a few mins to re-get it, annoying but doable, but now that we know you can do this WHY THE HELL aren't the broken, uncompletable G6 scenarios out of the RRO journey already then? If not deleted).

Once spawned, you still spawn in a random point of the map, so the swap was really for nothing.
The one time that it randomly decided to spawn me 50 meters from the actual service I was supposed to drive (yay), it already had someone sat down on the drivers seat. You have to confirm that you want to take over the service (it warns you you'll abandon the one you're already doing, which is the same), and then you get stuck anyway because the reverser isn't interactable.

Am I to add more?

P.S:The new settings (I don't see the one related to passenger bags and the like) are present in the Advanced graphics settings menu, but an untranslated copy is also present in the General settings menu. The mod toggle, (not working anyway), is only present in the advanced graphics settings menu which doesn't sound like the best place for it.

Waechtersbach had some mentioned fixes but nothing when it comes to the complete absence of ground you can walk on on the grass/dirt/asphalt sections around the station.

Oh and Frankfurt Sued still has missing PIS on the first platform, while on the last, the monitor of platform 10 doesn't say the number 10 (but I am not sure what is correct here, if there even is a monitor and a platform 10, to be honest). P.P.Skay, according to this video there doesn't seem to be signage for a platform 10 nor a monitor at all, the structure looks different tbh.

 

Well well, since the new patch my game instantly crashes on startup. PC/Steam. According to the UE crash report its the ntdll.dll
I'm verifying steam files right now.

 

On the Frankfurt S-Bahn to Wiesbaden Hbf route the player falls into the void every time he gets off the platform.

(I'm playing on PC, Steam)

 

Wow, much better FPS at Frankfurt on the Frankfurt-Fulda route! Stuttering is still there on default dx11, and with forcing dx12 virtually no stutters at all (like it was before the update) but I’m happy there seems to be a decent difference in fps in high traffic areas! (Increase of about 5-10fps)

Is there a chance that you have mods installed? If so, you mentioned that when you leave the platform, you fall through the map? If that's the case, then 9 times out of 10 it's a mod issue. Before posting things like this here, it's wise to check such things first by temporarily removing all your mods from the mod folder and checking if the issue still occurs. If it does, then check them one by one to see which mod is causing the problem.

 

Cautious thumbs up from me on performance. Took a Class 87 hauled run out on WCMLoS which is the route that hammered my potato PC the most. Previously I was having to run at 1080p with Lossless Scaling to get reasonable performance. Now able to run at 1440p and hitting 30 FPS. Yes there is still some stuttering and the infamous sound squelching, but seems much less than it was with the visuals and sound much smoother.

Will test some more tomorrow and hopefully confirm my findings.

 

Not sure if this is something that’s happened after the update but I was playing Blackpool branches this evening and I noticed none of the station indicator lines of the journey line were not visible anymore.

 

Today's update seems to have made the game run smoother and has fixed the country filter on the to the trains section however neither Berninalinie nor IOW 22 now exist in any of the country selections. Berninalinie used to be British when it released instead of Austrian/Swiss! (seems someone got VERY lost when they placed it in the filter)

 

I had the game crash like that for me a few weeks ago. Just as with you the menu tabs were visible over the part of the route my train was on and I could do absolutely nothing but quit the game and reboot it

 

Any Updates for the Expert Patch on Xbox?

CORRECTION: I can select it as a spawnable loco en route, but not from a menu. Is that supposed to be this way?

Just downloaded the update on Steam. The new 218 livery only shows up as DBB 218 in the Formation Designer, but nowhere else.

 

I’m playing on Xbox series S, and I didn’t get the new DB BR expert 101 livery.

Thats correct on consoles it will take a bit longer. I guess it will available tomorrow or very soon!

 

Let me know how things go. I had the same crash and got the game to reload with only Foob's God Mode and Jetwash's Lighting and Visual Quality Enhancement package loaded.

So, the issue must be one of the other 75 mods I had installed that I deactivated. If anyone figures which mod is causing the crash, please let us all know!

GAG-60941 has the same issue as the previous one. I still spawn on foot on a random location.

PS:
In case it helps, I also tried loading GAG-60941 from the timetable to check if it would work.
The result is that it DOES NOT WORK if I try the service from the standard 2008 timetable,
but it WORKS FINE if I pìck the same service from the 2008 [Expert 101] timetable.

PS2: Yes, I made Steam verify all the files just in case.

 

I thought this patch they was gonna sort it so we could get xbox/ps achievement or Trophies but still nothing.

DTG JD good morning, I started my Xbox and was looking for the update but still no update for the expert 101 on my Xbox series x . Don’t got the 218 so I can’t say anything about this

 

PC Player Steam.

On TSW4 the game used to load to main menu within 10 seconds.

TSW5 since the "interactive map" load in 30 seconds.

Since yesterday's patch, load in 1 minute +

You are steadily making the core gaming experience worse.

 

It might be a dependency that's changed, which forced the package to rebuild. In my 32+ years in the business, we've never documented that sort of thing for end users.

Thirded. Until the run is fixed, impossible to complete the G6 Journey. Sadly I feel this has been chucked into the too difficult or low (zero) priority category by both TSG and DTG.

 

This is so strange I just bought the BR218 then closed the game to install it. Now I have 3 times to get back in the game and it ctd it gets stuck on the purple screen. On xbox x DTG Harry DTG JD

 

Since the update I do not see any BR422 and BR425 from HRR on Koln - Aachen. I've checked Koln HBF, Aachen HBF and both the depos near Aachen, where normally BR425's are stationed. From the timetable I can choose the BR425 to drive.

My other layers, BR101 from HRR, TGV and BR146 + dostos from MSB are appearing as normal on the route. I'm playing on Series S.

Update: when I select and drive the BR425 from timetable, Koln HBF is empty, only a few BR425's but no other trains.

Can someone look into this please?

Tsw 4 never launched within 10 Seconds.
I assume as a PC Player especially for steam you are using mods.
Mods make the loading time drastically longer. If you do not i strongly suggest you to use them.

Edit: For me the loading time did not change and neither i experienced core issues getting worse. You should consider to search for faults in your PCs Hardware/Software.

Never called you a liar. Its just MY Tsw 4 doesnt load within 10 Seconds (maybe because of the amount of dlcs, who knows). Maybe a shorter time than Tsw 5 but not that much shorter.
I recommended to use mods if you dont by now and if you are using them already you shouldnt be suprised if the game loads longer.
I mean i have around 90 Mods installed and it takes around 10 to 15 seconds longer to load than the vanilla game needs to.
My PC Hardware is more than enough to run the game and you should consider to argue on a less personal level.

 

Would be very interested in a clarification on the following new settings:

• Does the substitutions on/off toggle just prevent other locos from subbing into existing services, or additionally disable all kinds of layering completely? The help text is kind of vague.
• What is the custom formations on/off toggle for? As far as I‘m aware, custom formations can’t layer or substitute automatically. They only appear if you e.g. manually spawn them in Free Roam or add them to a scenario. So why would this toggle even be needed, and what does it do? Does the custom train revert back to a default formation, or does the whole consist just disappear?
• What about the passenger accessories on/off toggle (regardless of whether it’s currently appearing in-game or not)? Is this mainly for period accuracy (have noticed some modern gadgets on vintage routes), or is there a performance benefit?

 

To follow up on the substitutions toggle, is this intended to prevent even a loco DLC from appearing? I am thinking of DRA and the 193. If you turn off substitutions, will that prevent the 193 from appearing as AI at all, even on the services that you only get with the 193 layer? It has become rare to see the 193 appear as AI on DRA in any case.

 

Anyone else on PS5 having trouble with the layer toggle? It doesn't work at all for me

I really love the Virtual Conductor mode for the Expert 101. However, the update notes state that:
"An on-screen Zp 9 signal indicates that you are ready to depart."
Can someone tell me where to find that signal? I assume it should be on the front display, but I don't see it. Is it on the HUD?

Also, I love driving in Expert Mode, but with the fault simulation turned off. I want no troubles! Is there a way to save that in Expert Profile? I usually start a service by turning off fault simulation and that doesn't seem to be part of the saved profile. I also tried turning the Chaos Factor to 0, but that doesn't seem to be saved either.

You need to enable it via the Ebula menu. There’s an option there to activate this function. Once that’s done, a small square will appear on the right side of your screen. This square remains inactive when the doors are open. Only after the departure signal and after you’ve rotated the door switch to “doors closed” will a green circle appear in that square — that’s the sign that everything is safe and you can apply traction.

Here you see the pictures:

1. Ebula option 6 will enable or disable this function:


2. The doors are open and the square on the right indicates the doors are open but no action is needed.


3. You can close the doors by the button to rotate the door control button to "doors are locked position"

 

Can now confirm this patch has truly transformed the Class 87 and WCMLoS. Yes there is still the odd hitch but 98% of the time the graphics and sound are flowing smooth. A lovely, heartwarming experience, driving 1S18 as the sun rises (perhaps a tad early) over the fells and hills.

 

Having tried the update today:
- I can finally start a service out of Euston on WCMLS without a crash.
- Kinzigtalbahn runs much smoother than before, almost like how the older routes run.

I'm looking at the Expert Timetable for Ludwigsbahn and I don't see any freight transport services.....does it require some other add-on to activate? another map?

EDIT: I make restart TSW5 and freight is included ..... I have no idea why....

 

Still no 218 updare here. I have the expert 101 and the SCR 158 updates today.

So I'm just missing the BR218 update.

You don't even have to use the door switch anymore at all.
Although sometimes it doesnt go automatically (beta)

 

Just out of curiosity I thought I'd try this run on the Xbox series S and it spawned me at Oldenberg HBF so it can be safely said that it's knackered on Xbox too! So I searched the map to find the train and the train label has it listed as an AI service, so that looks like why we spawn elsewhere, the train isn't set as a player service but I'm going to see if I can spawn near it and take it over. You can spawn over at Bremen HBF Freight yard and take the train over but it warns you that taking the train over will abandon your current journey event which is to drive this train to Hude. You couldn't make this up lol
