Hi Folks, I'm testing some of the latest memory improvements on XSX and XSS - one of the things I want to evaluate is improvements to any issues that cause a crash to desktop. Can you let me know some repro's of times that you get consistent crash to desktop on XSX? Unless I'm misremembering and there aren't any in which case, hurrah! Thank you Matt
Hi Matt, I can’t remember the last time I had a crash on XSX. I have however noticed more frequent blurred textures in the last few months.
I play alot of wcml south mostly. Now and again i get booted coming out of euston station, not all the time but sometimes. I have dynamic weather on and layers, for reference.
On xbox x here no crashes for a while but terrible blurriness and freezing some routes why worse then others.
I didn't had any crashes before on Koln - Aachen, even not with the revamped timetable, but now it has crashed a lot. I've reinstalled the game but without luck. Yesterday I reinstalled the game again, after deleting my save and all other data from my Xbox and cloud. After this a was able to finish a few services without crashing. So I don't know what's going on, I will test more to see the game stays stable. I'm playing Koln - Aachen with the following layers active: HRR + BR101, MSB and LGV on Series S.
Blurrying is a slightly different issue - not ignoring it - but I want to make sure we've nixed what are likely to be "out of memory" crashes. So if anyone has any repro's of crashes please ping them to this thread so I can test them against the new build. Thanks! Matt.
Occasional crashes coming into Euston. Ai traffic can back up, red signals, even though the platforms are empty. Next time I'll note details down to help more precisely.
XboxsX. I had a problem with 1A77, the 20:59 Manchester to London on a class 390/0 a few weeks ago when all trains came to halt because of red signals entering Euston but I've just rerun it and there wasn't a problem this time. I've had a handful of problems with the Mittenwalbahn and Frankfurt-Fulda but apart from that crashes are infrequent in my experience.
Hi Matt. I consistently get crashes to desktop on Frankfurt to Fulda. Generally while driving the ICE. Crash occurs between Frankfurt Sud and Frankfurt Main, but only on services from Fulda direction. Mildmay also crashes while driving from Willesden to Stratford between Kentish Town West and Caledonian Road. I have also had crashes on the new Koln Aachen timetable but these are a lot more random and hard to reproduce, but occur towards the end of the route.and service. All services run in dynamic weather and with all layers active on series x.
I don't know if anyone on series X has this issue but if u pause doing a run in timetable scenario doesn't matter and u switch Xbox of u go do something else when u come back and finish of most of the time u can come back on with quick resume then once u are done u want go back main menu it will freeze on the loading screen for a minute then kick u back to Xbox dashboard then need load back in it's been like this since tsw5 came out I've never seen anyone mention it so thought put it in here
Even though this xbox dresdan isnt acessible on ps4 it keeps. Crashing for me wcmls doesnt though it did use to a lot but i can play rather smothly now
For me is on xbox series s, the newest route Frankfurt S Bahn with reduced timetable a problem. With lot of crashes almost every service.
I have had crashes at various locations on the WCML south on the series s. Most of them have been on the throat into Euston. I have had another crash just outside Watford junction in the direction of Milton Keynes (was like 5 months ago so dont know if its improved). The main crash in terms of Frankfurt is the approach into Frankfurt. Update: FPS on Maintalbahn, Cardiff City and Semmeringbahn haven't been the best, but no crashes as of yet on those routes)
Yes indeed, WCML South and Frankfurt Fulda where I’ve driven the route towards the main terminal (Euston / Frankfurt Hbf respectively), I get the crashes typically just as I’m dropping in to the station throat. It’s much rarer that I should have the game crash at the start of the simulation (upon departing the main station and heading down the route). One recent exception was when entering photo mode whilst heading up the ramp out of Frankfurt Hbf, but I could tell the game was struggling up until this point, and I captured this clip shortly before the crash of the input lag and the ‘map label’ freeze. https://www.xbox.com/play/media/y7Bqd5uDLy I think a range of different Creators Club liveries (and perhaps my creative use of free roam) are what’s giving me these crashes more than most. For what it’s worth, I haven’t yet experienced a crash on Frankfurt Fulda if there’s been no AI 423 traffic, the (admittedly mysterious) removal of this layer when driving selected services seems to stabilise things just enough. Hope this helps!
Hi, I will check tonight probably. I had some crashes lately and made a ticket about it. This was the number in the mail I got: 78249. The game crashed when I go to route map via the tabs menu. I discovered a workaround were it didn't crash luckily. When accessing route map directy via the toggle button on my controller.
I never use quick resume, as there are more games who don't like this feature. I always go to the games main menu and then close the game by pressing the Xbox home button and from that menu you can close the game.
The only place it crashes for me is Frankfurt Hbf. On Frankfurt Fulda it crashes within a couple of minutes of leaving the station or upon reaching the river bridge if approaching the station. On the SBahn route I can leave the station ok but it crashes after crossing the river bridge. I have most German routes installed and no creators club liveries. It doesn't crash if using scenario planner.
Hi Matt, I'm on Series X. Firstly, this almost consistently happens in the TSW menu screens. I get out of video memory errors a majority the time in the photo gallery, especially when trying to publish the railfan image. Meanwhile, in the scenario planner menu, when selecting a specific route, after this it then tries to load, but most times the game closes back to the Xbox dashboard. Elsewhere, still getting out of video memory errors for Frankfurt-Fulda, especially around Frankfurt Hbf. This seems to reduce, although not perfect, when changing the video display from 4K to HD - which still isn't ideal. Another thing with Frankfurt-Fulda is conductor mode seems to struggle too as the game often just closes to the dashboard too. Also, with Frankfurt-Fulda, occasionally the route causes the game to just randomly close; a couple times after finishing a service for example, if I choose to go back to the menu, it doesn't even get to the loading screen, but closes the game etc. Finally, not recently, but worth looking into, but Mittenwaldbahn has been the only other route which has had out of video memory errors; for context, this route worked perfectly at first, but I think a potential update to increase the draw distance to see the mountains had a poor effect as performance overall is a lot worse. Please let me know if you need anything further elaborating. *btw on the subject of Frankfurt-Fulda, have you looked into yet the missing AI services in timetable mode? Thanks.
Hi Matt, twice now I have a crash to desktop from the performance breakdown page. It happened today after I took an ICE-T to Frankfurt without problems. I can't remember the details of the first one.
It happens to me on both Frankfurt to Fulda and Frankfurt S-bahn frequently when coming into Frankfurt HBF. If I do runs out of Frankfurt its not an issue only into Frankfurt. On Xbox X.
Hi, I'm not sure if the Xbox Series S is also affected by this, but I keep experiencing crashes on the Frankfurt–Fulda route, especially when approaching Frankfurt, with various services – particularly with an ICE service. Unfortunately, I'm now also getting crashes on the older Cologne–Aachen route, especially when heading towards Cologne, using different vehicles.
Hi Matt, Yes, quite a lot and it’s predominantly on WCML south. Particularly on the approach to Euston, at the crest of the throat before the descent into the station. I rarely get an entire run completed.
So I'm not the only one with crashes on Koln - Aachen on Series S. This route never crashed before even not with the revamped timetable, but (I suppose) since the latest update, it crash every run. Reinstall of the game didn't work, however this week I did a 2nd reinstall after deleting my save game and all other data, after I was able to do 2 runs without crashing. I made a bugreport, but only got the standard answers until now.
Yep still there. But like I said I've got a workaround by not using the route map via tab menu. I also encountered another bug but I will make a ticket for that, because it's not related with crashes.
Mittenwalbahn and Frankfurt-Fulda on XSX I can not complete the Mittenwalbahn route no matter how much i try. Fulda crashes if you have the newer ICE on thats comes with it in the layers. Tends to just be blurry but completable if you switch it off.
I frequently get an out of memory / texture allocation crash thing on series S, after uploading screenshots to DTLive. it’s usually after every second upload. Edit: For clarification, I’m talking about entering the Railfan shots page from the main menu and uploading from there. It happens regardless of whether I have driven a session beforehand or not. (I.E: I can load up a fresh launch of TSW and go straight into the railfan shots manager page, without loading up any routes - and it crashes after the second upload)
That's a known issue: Photo mode – Opening Photo Mode and taking photos when entering or around areas of high memory usage can also lead to a crash, so be aware that if you’re lining up the perfect screenshot, be sure you’ve saved and be prepared just in case. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...nds-to-help-performance-reduce-crashes.88010/
Nope. I’m talking about going into the Screenshots page from the main menu and uploading from there - not even loading into a scenario or service.
Played on XSX just now. After taking the update from yesterday was hoping for a smooth ride. Loaded up WCMLS, on foot at Euston at 10:00am. Weather set to custom and all clear. Spawned a 390, set my path for MK and set off. Made it to the first 120mph sign and the game crashed to desktop. I have no custom liveries as I removed them awhile ago due to game breaking issues. Layers are as follows:- Class 390 Lioness Line Bakerloo Line West London Line Freight - FKA Freight - HKA Bakerloo Line - Sleet Class 710
Have you tried running normal timetable job. I've never any problems with this route and im on xbox x
Revamped timetable of Koln - Aachen is broken now, BR422 and BR425 are missing as AI train. That's also a way to reduce memory . When you start and drive the BR425 from timetable mode, you only see a few BR425's, no other trains at all.
There is another patch coming to fix the missing layers from timetables - affects a number of them and took a bit longer to fix but its on the way wont be long
Thanks Matt! I not saw any reports of Koln - Aachen before, so I didn't know if DTG was aware of the layer issue on this route.
So I tried running IR03 - 6:52am Manchester Pic - Euston. Same settings as before and crashed to dashboard 8.1 miles from Euston. I didn't open the map or pause the game. Looked around with the outside camera while waiting for passengers to load at MK but that was it.
Series S - I'm getting crashes also around 8 miles outside of Euston when driving a Class 390. Will try later on a 350 and see what happens. I used to turn the 390 layers off when driving towards Euston but was hoping this update would fix the problem. I'll also try on X-Cloud and see what it's like on there, as I believe that now uses Series X hardware. Also with the missing layers from Timetables, will this also fix SEHS as reported here? https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/ai-traffic-missing-on-sehs-and-bml.91841/ Thanks
I just done this service on my series x. All layers and dynamic weather. Made it to euston, only really laggy at Watford junction and coming past the freight yards. As normal
