Xbox Series S Still Unplayable On Xbox Series S

Hey everyone,
I'm reaching out again regarding the performance issues I've been having for a long time, which many others have also reported. Despite the update a few days ago, I’m still experiencing problems – especially around Frankfurt–Fulda, and now also between Mannheim and Kaiserslautern.

On my Xbox Series S, I’m seeing severe performance issues, particularly with FPS. In the forest sections towards Kaiserslautern, I’m only getting around 23 FPS with about 40 ms. It just doesn’t look good and is barely playable for me.

Frankfurt–Fulda still doesn’t run smoothly either, and unfortunately, every run still crashes. I haven’t been able to complete a single journey without saving.

At this point, I’m really reluctant to keep playing the game – even though I actually enjoy it a lot. I honestly don’t know what to do, especially since there’s no clear answer on what the next steps will be, even though an update was already released.

 

Do you run the game at 4K or HD mode?

 

I’m currently playing the game in 4K, but I also tried HD. While performance improved slightly in HD, the quality loss is too much, so I’m not willing to play that way. I expect 4K to work properly if the game claims to support it.

 

TSW2 and older routes are playable on 4K with a decent enough framerate. Since TSW3, the routes has become stuttery on Series S in 4K mode. I don't expect the Series S to run in 4K, however as you said, the quality loss in HD is to much. It's not only the resolution (I think it's below 1080P), but also AA is low qualtity or even missing and the overall picture quality is way less then on 4K mode.

I've tried to play some newer routes in HD, but I can't coop the bad quality. So for now I'm playing only the older routes. I really hope DTG will improve the HD mode with the quality on par with the 4K mode, but only with lower resolution. Maybe a 1440P mode will run fine too on Series S, but I'm not sure.

 

Wait, we're talking about playing in 1440p upscaled to 4K, right?

 

On series S you have HD and 4K mode, no 1440P. I'm playing on a FHD monitor, but HD mode still looks terrible. So I play older routes in 4K, newer routes run bad on 4K. So I hope for a better HD mode or 2K mode.
