    Dear all.

I wanted to post this idea for missing content regarding Deutsche Bundesbahn for the 1970s and 1980s. Inwas thinking on bundles such as:

    1. Einheitslokomotiven: 110, 112, 139, 140, 141 150 and 151 - this were predominantly the locos used on mainline services throughout that era

    2. IC85: contains Avmz 111, Apmz 121, Avmz 207 Armz 211, Bm 235

    3. Fernverkehr: Am202/203, ABm224/225, Bm232/234, BDms272/273, WRtmh136, ARmh and Dm - possible paints Ozeanblau Beige and Pop

    4. Nahverkehr: Silberlinge (Hasenkasten and Karlsruher Kopf), AByl411 , Byl421/422 and BDyl458 - the latter with possible paints in Chromoxidgrün and Ozeanblau Beige

    5. Rheingold 1962 and TEE 1980 (the latter would be covered with IC85)

In my opinion if each numbers 2 to 5 set was around 25 EUR it could be viable both for developer and customer. The locos obviously will be in a different pricing category.

Furthermore I would like to suggest the VT08.5 (DBBR 612) and VT08.8. This were, besides the DBBR V200.1, E10 and VT11.5, the most prominent representatives for the Bundesbahn in the 1950s and 1960s. While there's one VT08.8 being renovated to be able to do trips, this was also the very one former President JFK used during his trip to Germany in 1963. It is about 90% original interior with even the shower and cabins completely preserved. The VT08.5 gained fame in 1954 when it picked up the then German National Soccer Team in Bern and taking around West Germany, after they won the finals and were World Champions. This DMU class definitely would deserve a model for Train Sim World and can be used up until the mid 1980s in layers for regular services, diplomatic services, mil services or charters.
*) Finally, I'd like to suggest DMU the VT98 - Schienenbus - and the VT11.5, as well as the V200.1
I hope this idea might gain your positive response as well and that sooner or later it'll complete the Bundesbahn more or less for the 1980s.

    Kind regards and cheers

Those are some great suggestions! I'm always here for more Bundesbahn stuff, the 70's and 80's were such interesting times for German rail :)

Although I wouldn't split the bundles in this manner. Making themed packs (locos, fast services, regional services) might not be appealing to a lot of people. I guess many would prefer a little bit of everything at once instead of "only" receiving a bunch of locos, but then have to wait for the next pack to come out so they can properly use them.
In my opinion, the most feasible (and for the creators profitable) way would be to combine some of them with a new route, or do gameplay packs... quite the way TSW is already working.

    For example:
    Stage 1: Route DLC
First, let's release a period-accurate route with a bunch of new rolling stock. Just as an example, the Allgäubahn, from Kempten to Lindau, in 1969/70. This route could come with new rolling stock in form of a V200.1 loco, as well as Am202, Bm232 and Dm coaches. A V60 (backdated 365) could be included for freight and shunting. Additonal rolling stock could be layered in from Mittenwaldbahn, Niddertalbahn and the E94 pack. Mostly the freight wagons, the B4yg and the n-Wagen.

Stage 2: First gameplay pack (Freight)
Since freight is getting the short stick in the route DLC, relying mostly on layers from other routes, the first gameplay pack could change this. It could include a second loco, like the V100 (211/212) or the V90 (290). Both would suit the task well. This pack should also include 1-2 new freight cars, to add variety.

Stage 3: Second gameplay pack (Passengers)
This pack adds more spice to the route by bringing more diversity to the regional trains. It could add the VT98 railbus or the 515 battery powered EMU, as well as a Hasenkasten cab for the n-Wagen, so that owners of the previous pack could take the V100 out for some passenger services :)

In this manner, we'd get a new, well-populated route in three stages. This would also mean, development time could be spread a little, and customers wouldn't have to wait 2 years for a new mega pack including all of it. We mustn't forget, developing and programming all this takes a lot of time and effort.
I can also imagine that customers might prefer to pay 3 smaller prices instead of a single huge one. Or if they bought the route DLC and didn't like it, they could abstain from buying the packs altogether.
A potential drawback is that the timetable itself in stage 1 is quite bland, with very few variety in rolling stock, especially without layers from other routes. On the other hand, Niddertalbahn only features one DMU and one loco, and this didn't stop it from becoming a cult classic either ;)

    Another quick example:
    Stage 1: Saarstrecke
Actually, noir suggested this a while ago and I'm still a big fan of the idea! The route looks interesting and is more freight-oriented than most. Set in the late 70's or early 80's it could be a banger!
The base route could come with one new loco (BR 140) and a new passenger car (n-Wagen Hasenkasten cab) as well as something new and interesting for freight (those molten steel transporters perhaps).

Stage 2: Heavy freight gameplay pack
This could add a BR 151 loco as well as heavy-duty Faals 150 wagons.

    Stage 3: Passenger gameplay pack
This might include a BR 141 loco and some yl-Wagen, or 3-axle Umbauwagen.

Your idea sounds great, AmityBlight , and it made me think of something even better.

Stage 1: release of the route Münster/Westfalen to Osnabrück Hbf with the 110 and 141 plus cab cars for the Silberlinge and Am202, ABm224, Bm232, BDms272 as this stretch is only about 47 km long. The DBBR 103 and the coaches from the Mittenwaldbahn can be used as well, with the Silberlinge for regional trains and Avmz207/Bqmz for IC services, plus the available freight cars for respective services

Stage 2: release of the second part Osnabrück Hbf to Bremen Hbf with IC85 content, Am203, ABm224, Bm234, Bm235 and BDms273, plus Dm together with the 140 and 150 and freight cars. This stretch can be connected directly to the stage 1 route or via hopping and is about 135 km long.

Stage 3: this could be used to fill the route with shunting services using the V100, V60 and possibly a DMU (VT08, VT11.5 or VT98), yl-Wagen, or 3-axle Umbauwagen and the missing 4-axle Umbauwagen.

Setting around early 1980s when Sudmühle station still existed.

The advantages of this route are:
    1. It has all types of services ranging from small regional pax or freight services to IC and heavy freight services, as it was and is the most important route between the ports at the North Sea and the industrial Ruhrpott
    2. It has many shunting possibilities
    3. It's not monotone with only mountains or flat land, but switches to and fro.
    4. It could be connected to Bremen-Oldenburg via hopping
    5. By dividing it into two parts development won't be a lengthy process, but can be split and the user can decide, which part of the route or contents are preferred

Not sure, what others think, but in my opinion this route would be most suitable for everyone with a well filled timetable.

    Kind regards

PS. My initial idea was to keep pricing and required efforts minimal with a similar price comparable with the E94.

    That's funny, somehow, because of:
... what basically means you asking for 7 loco DLCs for the price of only one loco DLC. The effort to produce 7 locos (no matter if one already exists yet) is not "minimal".

Your "wish list" will never happen because it is hugely unrealistic.

Thanks for the input. Well, I meant the other sets of coaches, not the loco pack, which definitely has to be higher priced or split. My bet that I forgot that during writing. Glad you discovered the error. ;)

To be honest, it's an idea, not a demand as at the end of the day it's the developer who has to evaluate the best way to get a product to the customer at a viable cost that'll cover his or her time as well.

Let's see what time brings and if this idea might not partially turn into reality.

    Kind regards.

On another note, but how realistic do you estimate the chances for the 218 in Altrot? :)

    Kind regards.

In that case, the scope of the the packs should also be similar and comparable to the E94 pack. Just as Maik already said.
Think about it: What did we get in the E94 pack?
-2 new locos (albeit based on an existing model, heavily refurbished though)
    -1 new passenger coach (B4yg)
    -1 new freight wagon (Gs)
    -1 refurbished freight wagon (Falns)
-1 new timetable for an existing route, and a couple of railtours services

Keep in mind, each new vehicle means a lot of work, especially when someone's working on their own :)
Refurbishing something existing is work too. Think about the cream/blue 218. The EBuLa screen is gone, instead we got a (working) clock now! It's not just about cosmetics, it's also about functionality.

My own ideal wishlist for Bundesbahn content would be longer than my arm. But unless all of a sudden 5 or 6 other little 3rd party studios pop up, creating TSG-quality-level rolling stock, we'll have to be patient, and make the most of what we get :)

I would LOVE to get my hands into building some loco myself... but sadly, that would blow my schedule at the moment.

Yeah, and that's why i jumped in. Production times and costs are rising constantly for this type of content year by year. So all your 5 points are not realistic. Maybe the 5th could be produced but there are other problems then. Packs like you suggest are not doable economically at all. A wagon sounds easy to do, but isn't nearly as that. The realistic expectation for a vehicle content DLC at max is a single loco with 2 coaches. If one of the coaches is a cab car, then you lose one of the middle coaches as option. A cab car is exactly the same work as a single loco, or even more because of the passenger setup. If it is freight you can maybe expect a single loco with one or two different freight cars. Or a single MU train set what is way more work that a loco hauled train and the reason lots of MUs are not available yet. It's simply too much work and costs for the expected income.

Fun fact, this thing lays around here since 10 years or so. In TSC the reason to not releasing it was technically, in TSW i simply can't find a reliable reason to put my hands on it. Yes, it is a nice train, but that is not what decides if it can be produced or not. When you put in half a year or even a full year of work into a product, you need to be sure it will sell. That's not give for the VT98 at all, besides the problem that we don't have a route for it. Building a full route with the VT98 on it is an possible option generally, but not these days unfortunately. And that counts for lots of other locos and trains too.

Thanks for your extensive reply. When you mentioned there was no route for the VT98, I had to think on the Niddertalbahn. So I googled it and found two results that the VT98 was used on that route. The first being a thread from this forum where a user stated that they were used from the 1950s until the 1980s when the 628 replaced them

    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...vilbel-stockheim-feedback-thread.68345/page-7

The second is an image from the 1980s

    https://www.bahn2001.de/nidder/k634/798658a.htm

I am not sure if that was regular, although I'd say so. Edit: I think you meant it was for TSC, not as I understood TSW. My bet.

If the cab car came I would accept the sacrifice you mentioned. After all, the middle coaches for the Silberlinge are done. But, I do get it that it has to be economically viable and I hope you guys will find some sort of a possibility to bring such content.

As said, it was just an idea with the hope that it might open a door. I always have to remember my childhood days when I could see these 218s in Altrot and O/B running by my window that overlooked Nürnberg Ost and also my numerous journeys with my parents on such trains. Finally, there are many moments when I remember German Railroads for MSTS1 and how nice it was to run the Rollbahn, Biggetal or Mosel. That combination of old routes and Bundesbahn content has got into my mind and to be honest I really miss it badly at times.

I am happy though, that the 420 could find itself in the 1984 timetable as a layer (that means it'll be in the old colours from back then?).

Once more thanks for the response and I hope we can clear things in the future via posts like this to avoid any misunderstanding or similar.

    Kind regards

Gotta say I totally understand your reasoning. Building a new route tailored for the VT98 would just end up in a Niddertalbahn 2.0, since those were the kind of routes it was mainly used on.
Another issue with vehicles and routes like this is the timetable. Most of the VT98-frequented routes at the time had, let's say, 8 or 10 passenger services per direction each day? And often little to no freight services. This would leave most potential customers disappointed.

Anyway, looking forward to the 420 with childish joy :D

Raph's manual for the E94 pack mentions it, page 6 :)
Has there been a misunderstanding perhaps?

    Hmm, someone is leaking....
We do considering a grey orange version of it but it is not existing yet at all in the pack.

Oh ok... already thought something like that could have happened :o
Nevermind, I'll buy the 420 regardless of colour ;)

I saw it in one or two streams, with Felix being one of them if I'm not mistaken. They showed the layers, but didn't mention it specifically, and there it was - the DBBR 420 in orange. If I may ask, is the Pop Farben version or the Produktfarben meant?

Really hope for Bundesbahn content in order to replace the Mintgrün in the 1984. Am not really a fan of the Produktfarben.... :D

Let me tell that I really enjoy your developments and products ever since MSTS 1 times. Always good stuff and had many hours of fun with them.

    Kind regards.

The layer for the 420 is there yes :) You can see that on the timetable
But currently its Verkehrsrot, so not sure where the orange idea came from

Why not try making this Frankfurt Central Station 1980swe would have probably seen the 420s in their Cream and Orange Paint. If you want to make it cross border Germany to France you would need a dedicated locomotive DB Baureihe 181

Actually, and if somehow possible the old Kieselgrau/Orange and Kieselgrau/Olympiablau would be awesome for the 420 and Altrot for the 218.

But to be honest, I'd say in order to replace the Mintgrün Produktfarben a set consisting of Avmz111, Bm235 and BDms273, besides the Karlsruher driver cab car might seem more important for the timetable layer for LR.

In general the idea with Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof back in the 1980s sounds tempting.

But, we'll have to wait and see what will happen in the coming future.

    Kind regards.
