The Purpose with this Suggestion isn't to make something massive, but to suggest a route which is, while yes, Short, but could be developed to a high standard, and be at a more accessible and fair price. The Maritime Line is a 12 Mile Branch Line, Connecting the City of Truro to the Coastal Communal Town of Falmouth, in West Cornwall. LOCOS: BR Class 150/2 - GWR Livery Seen Before in TSW, The BR Class 150/2 was Built by BREL York between 1984 and 1987. These trains run a variety of services across the UK, And is the Main DMU, running Branch Line services in Cornwall. STATIONS: Truro Truro Station Serves the Main City of Cornwall and is one of the Busiest Stations In the Region. It is a Gateway Hub for Trains Towards Penzance, Exeter, London and the North. The Station Itself Sees 4 TPH, Two for the Cornish Mainline, Between Penzance and Plymouth, and Two Trains Per Hour on the Maritime Line. Perranwell Located a short distance away from Perranworthal and the Communal Area of Carnon Downs, Perranwell is a Quiet and Quaint Station, which unlike other stations on the route has an hourly service, instead of Half-Hourly on the Other Stations. The Station is maintained and looked after by the very active "Friends of Perranwell Station". Penryn Penryn Station Serves the Town of Penryn near Falmouth, This Station is Unique on the line, as it has a passing loop, which enables the Maritime line to have a half hourly service, all year around. The Station is not far from Tremough Campus, which is the Main Area of the University of Falmouth, This Station Is Popular with University Students. Penmere (UNABLE TO EMBED IMAGE AS ITS THE MAX FILE AMOUNT) Penmere Station serves the Suburb of Penmere in Falmouth, Penmere has various areas praising the Steam era of the Falmouth Branch, during the 1940s and 1950s. Falmouth Town (UNABLE TO EMBED IMAGE AS ITS THE MAX FILE AMOUNT) Falmouth Town is the Closest Station to the Town Centre of Falmouth and was Originally Called "The Dell" after the Car Park. Falmouth Town Station also serves the Falmouth Campus of the University of Falmouth, and Transports Students to and From Tremough Campus on a Daily Basis. Falmouth Docks (UNABLE TO EMBED IMAGE AS ITS THE MAX FILE AMOUNT) Falmouth Docks is the Terminus of the Maritime Line, The Station Serves The Large Falmouth Dockyard and Pendennis Castle. TIMETABLE The Falmouth Branch Offers 2 Trains Per Hour between both Truro and Falmouth, The 150/2 is the only DMU that runs on the Line (Apart from the Class 158, which on Rare Occasions, does run) There would be AI Traffic for the Cornish Mainline, If you own Great Western Express, these will show Castle Set HSTs and London Paddington Services, whilst yes, it would be unrealistic, as the route would be set in Modern Day, it's always good to fill the timetable up and make it as busy as possible. PRICE: Due to this Route Being So Short and Having Reused Stock, At Only 12 Miles, I Believe Charging £29.99 for it would be a bit silly. I think the Ideal Pricepoint for a Route Such as this is £19.99. WHY THIS ROUTE? The Reason I've chosen this route is due to the fact we haven't seen Cornwall in TSW for a long time, and there's also a lack of DMU Branch Lines in game, which I would definitely want to see more of. This is also a good restart to the GWR Licence, which was originally absent from TSW. Thank you All For Listening.
Truro sees 6 TPH (two down, two up and the two branch services). This is my local line . Also to be noted is that both services do call at Perranwell on the Timetable, although it is a request stop only on one of the two trains per hour.
Ideally, it would be a massive overhaul of WCL (to make it look more realistic) with this branch tacked on as an extra and, if I am feeling greedy, a Valenta HST. I would even consider paying for the update (with a suitable discount for owners of the existing WCL of course).
A great suggestion. I have however previously created a post for this line under my proposed Branch Line Mini Pack series of suggestions. The idea of these packs is to give us the missing branches on existing routes at a lower cost than regular full routes. Sadly, this idea doesn't seem to be as popular as I thought it might be.
I like the idea. However, does ANYTHING else run on that line? Anything to the port? Any freight? Because DTG wants something with more traffic, more rolling stock to introduce, more to see (landmarks, etc) and above all something else to SELL with it. How does it connect to something else they want to sell?
I think this route would more fill the gap for Diesel Only Branch line routes In game. This is more meant for a specific audience, at a cost that is reasonable, similar to IOW, and even at 8 miles, IOW still sold surprisingly well. it's a route that isn't too complicated, and a route that can easily be developed to a high standard, with time. As far as I'm aware, freight stopped going to the dockyard in Falmouth years ago, so nothing there. Landmarks on this route are Truro Cathedral and Pendennis Castle.
I think the connection to the docks may have even been removed when they did the work years ago to install the passing loop at Penryn. - If it is still there, however, it'll have a sleeper over the tracks with a stop sign and flashing red. - Hasn't been traffic out of the docks proper in years.
When did that happen? Would there be a good time to set the route that would make that port functional or generate more traffic?
