    Hello folks,
i recently bought the Class 158 ScotRail and noticed that there are now two different timetables for the Edinburgh - Glasgow route. I thought the new 158 would be integrated into the existing timetable.

With the new timetable I noticed that there is less rolling stock available so I think this timetable offers less variety. Is that the case? Which of the two timetables do you think is the better one or which one do you use more often?

Class 158 timetable by miles - do you not have many DLC? There are multiple layers that timetable offers, improving variety, but perhaps you don't have them. For example:
    170 from FCL
    801 from ECML
    Flying Scotsman
    Just to name a few

Class 158 without a doubt. The GWR HST’s are a bit of an anachronism but the service just feels so much more busy and alive.

The GWE HST is an anachronism but, somehow, if you have the 7 cities HST skin from creators club it will automatically sub in on all HSTs, thereby making it look sooooooo much better..... I have no idea how this sort of stuff works but it does make you wonder why this is not done elsewhere! Or, indeed, why it was never trumpetted as a major improvement

    Thank you.
I only play TSW4. Then I'm missing the layers from the TSW5 edition.
But thank you very much for your opinions on the timetables.

What's the 37 doing on the original timetable?
Presumably it requires rolling stock I don't have.

The Scr 158 timetable looks like this if you have the layers:

I have that 37, but it doesn't show up for me on this timetable. Maybe it uses stock from elsewhere? Peak Forest, perhaps, or WCL steam railtour pack?

Looking at the name of the layer and content listing, looks like it requires WCL, the WCL Steam Pack and Cathcart Circle.
Maybe it is one of those layers that includes different services based on the month of the year (example: you might have a steam railtour in june and a diesel railtour in july). Or it might be one of those services that has a steam locomotive and simulates it requires a diesel loco at the end of the train as emergency back up.

What services can the 801 complete? Are there passenger services or just short ecs? :)

The runs from Waverley via Falkirk that I've taken in real life before on the way to Aberdeen, and which I made a scenario for, due to this timetable not yet existing, on the way home from my highland hiking holiday last year, just to get a screenshot of me driving the very service I was riding, on my handheld.

I was impressed by how I was able to keep perfect time with the actual train the whole way as we passed every landmark.

I don't think there are any ECS services. Here you can have a look at most of the timetable:

    Honeyview_Ts2prototype Screenshot 2025.07.06 - 20.31.26.88.jpg

I didnt check all the services, but many are like this one. It goes between Edimburgh and Polmont (both directions available), with a stop at Haymarket.

Does the 380 and 801 layer on this route only with the 158's TT. I do not have 158 yet so I ask.

The class 158 all day long. It’s not just for the busier timetable it’s to drive the 158, since the 385 is one of the worst experiences for me in the whole game. The cab window view is the equivalent to wearing a pair of glasses and covering both sides with duct tape, whilst making a tiny incision on the left glass frame (1/10). So that you can barely see anything and you’re squinting 99% of the time.
The only way I can drive the 385 is to use one of the external cams and plonk it at the front of the train.
