I’m very new to train sim world classic and I love the br era so I would like to know which stuff is best for value
There are different countries - France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the UK And different types of train - Steam, Diesel and Electric If we don't know what you like and dislike a recommendation is difficult
Metropolitan Line is my favourite and anything else by Just Trains. Also the Freeware heritage routes from Steam Sounds Supreme are pretty good.
Weardale and Teesdale is only $2.49 just now with some BR Green stuff. WCML North for less than $4 with BR 86. Probably WCML Shap with BR Blue 47 and 87, There are a lot of options and you can switch out. Some great 3rd party BR Blue era stuff out there also.
The Woodhead lines give good BR action. I tend to drive the earlier route more. The two West Higland routes on Steam are nice. Each has different pros and cons. The included traction is limited, but both lines saw/see plenty of charter trains. I think the BR Blue loco pack is good value also.
Yes, but both are British Rail. The first is BR in the 50s/60s and has steam, diesel and electric locos. The second is BR in the 70s/early 80s and has electric and diesel.
A Recommendation would not be difficult if you had read his requirements properly, he clearly quoted he is interested in the BR Era. I am not having a go at you for the sake of it, I am just asking you to please re-read and understand the actual question before responding. I appreciate your at the start of your TSC journey but thought I would share mine (hindsight is a wonderfull thing!) I started playing TSC Scenarios only, spending loads on DLC to get the mainly the AI requirements, but quickly learnt once I had completed a scenario, I rarely went back to play it again. (as I knew when and where what was going to happen). Looking for a bit more variation and matching more reallife timetables, I went down the Quick Drive route. The main advantage is that every Quickdrive is virtually always different and that by changing the date in the QuickDrive scernario, you can re define the AI for different ERAs. All my AI is now set up to either 1989 or 2019, which means I get two different ERAs to drive for every DLC I own. The main downside, is rarely the AI set up correctly from the developers, and it is a lot of time and hassle to edit them and re-set it up. I had over 2000 consists to sort out by the time I realised how I wanted my TSC AI to work, but slowly and surely, all my DLC now works so I can drive the UK mainline routes (WCML / ECML / MML / GWR) in there entirety in either 1989 of 2019. If your interested in how to set up the AI / QD Scenerio so you can consider if this is an option for you / anyone else , I can provide more information of how I achived the multiple era AI. (but please be prepared ....it is a long time consuming process but once completely is ultimately vey rewarding).

Value is difficult because usually it's a mix of scenery, fidelity, trains and activity. So just really short summaries: 2007-10-12 - East Coast Mainline, Newcastle - York Old, but supplies you with a basic set of starter stock. Also good for TSC introduction. Default scenario weathers are questionable but I had happy results with 2D cloudy, particularly in spring. 2010-12-17 - Falmouth Branch Old, but it should supply you with the same stock plus a bit of branch line work with small locomotives. A more recent copy-paste is Riviera in the 50s. It's technically BR but looks like GWR. 2012-04-05 - Settle - Carlisle It's not supplied with BR stock but the environment works. Also there are workshop extensions and upgrades. 2014-10-02 - West Highland Line, Extension It comes with probably the best Steam version of the Class 37, and nonstandard foliage. Not sure about the price dipping deep, it also supplies a bunch of updated models for the old Kuju assets. 2015-06-25 - Weardale & Teesdale Network Definitely recommended. Scenery is overall average - developed to offset the "everything looks gray" era of TSC. Basically I'd recommend you to also turn this around and start browsing the workshop: Not.Silent, TobBirk for a start. If you fancy their scenarios, pick up the requirements. Rinse and repeat each sale until you get bored. Alternatively / Afterwards, after just testing the waters, go to Victory Works and Golden Age Developments, possibly many more, and do the same. (decrepitts in the screenshots threads shares a lot)
ATS will have a great variety of free scenarios. There WILL be a lot of requirements however using Locoswap you can see what you have missing and can swap out for whatever rolling stock you own. ATS is a good start to also find multiple skins.

You can't swap out routes! If six routes are required you have to have those routes, or have scenery items missing.
No, those routes are themselves 100% free. There is no charge for downloading them, and the creator is making no money from their distribution. In other words, free.
To use them there is a cost to the user. They may be free to download, but I don't think it's helpful to someone who is very new to TSC to present them as 'free' when you'll need about £100 of DLC to make them work.
