It was sure, on the other hand TSW6 available on gen 8 while some dlcs of 5 are starting to not be available on it or just some crashes for the latest releases from what I read , it's weird. I don't know if the game will be super well optimized for gen 8

Does this announcement mean given the tfw pacer removed from 0-3 on last months roadmap mean we now have to wait for tsw6 before we get the tfw pacer and when will be get the promised class 150 Audio updates that were promised last month for this month ?

Yeah, I hope DTG can do something to make this process smoother. Layers are hugely important and those of us who pre-order for the cheaper price lose that benefit to some extent as the game is incomplete for about a week.

Why are the old consoles still being supported? People have had almost 5 years to upgrade at this point and from what we have seen from the latest dlcs they are holding back train sim world. Just stop supporting them already like most companies have.

We are still getting this months roadmap right?
Sorry this is probably a pointless question but I want to make sure

    Least surprising development ever lol

I wonder what the "brand new titles" will be? Maybe related to those trademark applications from a few months ago?

Kinda wild that Gen 8 is (kinda) still being supported. It's been almost as long since PS4/XB1 launched (12 years) as the gap between PS2 launch and PS4 (13 years).

With TSW6 coming, how much bigger is the game going to get?

is there a way of having rolling stock in the core game so we can get layers without having the main route installed?

Why exactly have you announced now if you don't want to say anything at all about it, apart from what you have always done? Simply to generate “interaction” about non-existent information?
Sorry, but the information content of today's announcements is almost zero

It probably means the platform (free starter pack) itself will continue to support gen 8 for old consoles (existing content), while the actual new content won't.

Totally agree it's gotten so obnoxious with 25 versions of the Class 66 and DoStos just to name a couple.

Hot-take: DTG should roll ALL 1st-party content from pre-TSW3 into the core package. I'd have to imagine any current sales of that content are minimal (during steam sales for example).

Here we go again. Say Hello to TSW6!
Another year, Another Dovetail Direct, and by Aug 26th, we can know what locos and routes would be included in TSW6 . Then, all of these would happened again at 2026.
    The Difference
    1. DTG annouce TSW6 one month earlier, I thought they would annouce it on Dovetail Direct.
    2. We can get 3 loco rather than 2, maybe one US loco, one German loco and one UK loco.

DTG Alex DTG Matt Considering that the video released today has the title, native subtitles and translation in Brazilian Portuguese, can we understand that we will finally have a Train Sim World with translation into Portuguese?

Well, this early announcement is an open invitation to all the wild guesses and semi-informed speculation that some people complain about.

And it's a firm rebuff to all those who would prematurely bury gen 8 consoles for no good reason, especially for those misguided and meanspirited individuals who continue to insist that gen 8 is somehow " holding TSW back ", turning a deaf ear to everything DTG has said.

Really shocked that Gen 8 will still be supported. Will this mean, that all upcoming DLCs which that are not released for Gen8 won't have any trophies/Achievements like the last two routes?

Colour me surprised. Another TSW game. Yay. Yet dlc like CCN still has glaring quality issues. No news on GWE Remaster either, which was supposed to be a TSW5 release.

I mean, it’s 13 year old hardware that became last generation 5 years ago. If they can’t drop it now, when will they? It objectively is holding back potential quality of new releases.

Seriously? I'd have asked if you guys were able to read a room but given the whole Thomas debacle you're clearly not. TSW3 is broken, TSW4 is broken, TSW5 is broken but go ahead and release TSW6 which will of course be broken and full of bugs which you will piecemeal patch with the irony being that each patch goes and breaks something else...

I say sarcastically - well done on the carrot and stick with the list of add-ons that we have been promised for months now being a TSW6 feature. I have to emphasise the sarcasm as y'all clearly are hopeless at reading the room and would think I'm being genuinely nice.

I want the JT 86 and then I'm done, no TSW6 for me thank you, I will happily stick to what I already have. The only possible way you could entice me into getting TSW6 is if JT come up and announce a new route as whatever you guys at DTG are going to be cooking up, or should that be cocking up, with Rivet isn't going to do it. Let's face it, there's quite a few folks like myself who only went ahead and got TSW5 because of the JT route, same the year before with Blackpool...

God I hope the make process less painless this time around.

At this point if TSW is going to continue with yearly releases with a free upgrade, I’d like to see it become like TSC. A core that gets updated yearly with new DLC bundles each year. That way it saves everyone the hassle of redownloading all their dlcs again and again and gives DTG an opportunity to have a yearly income with the new core routes. Surely that’s a win win?

That’s exactly why I’m being very cautious because I can imagine that TSW6’s core routes will support Gen8, but that doesn’t offer any guarantees for future DLCs. Their promise still leaves plenty of back doors open.

The only surprise is Gen8 still being supported. Increasingly we're seeing DLC that can't run on it, this would have been an ideal time to move on to Gen9 only.

I’m not 100% clear what the problem is. You won’t need TSW3,4 or 5 once TSW6 comes out so if one or more of these is broken (in your opinion), you can kiss them goodbye. It remains to be seen whether TSW6 is still broken of course.

By saying you won’t get TSW6 until a route you want comes out, by that time, the free upgrade period may be over so you will be shooting yourself in the foot and end up having to pay for an upgrade that was previously free. You may as well upgrade for free upon release. If TSW6 is too broken for you, there is nothing stopping you from reverting to the, in your opinion, broken earlier versions. You don’t even have to install TSW6 at all if you don’t want to. Just grab it and it will be there for you if and when you want it.

There needs to be a better way of TSW6 working with existing routes as I'm not willing to go through the downloading mess that occurs with every transition of TSW. I've done it since TSW 2 and it's a car crash every time.

Expect the unexpected, so... unexpected in terms of "random events", or as a shift in direction for TSW?

I don't know, maybe it's the professional burnout and continual threat of impending layoffs permeating into every aspect of my life, but this time I can't muster any excitement for the Direct. I hope the routes and locos are going to be interesting and the timetables varied.

The free introduction pack is very appreciated.

Free upgrade, so It is OK. I don't understand why they have to do this over and over again but, OK as long as it is a free base upgrade.

Kudos to DTG for ending the speculation but why not just go the extra mile and tell us what the content packs will be? Late August is still six weeks away so there's just going to be endless debate about the new routes and any bonus content.

Can't say I'm surprised at the news but I join others in wishing DTG would step away from this annual rebranding, particularly when very few fundamental changes are made to the core. Like others I feel a sense of sinking dismay at the prospect of downloading all my DLC again, though slightly offset by (finally) getting our fibre broadband update done yesterday (took OpenReach 8 hours and at one point five vans parked in the street to sort out various technical hitches under the road!) which has doubled the download speed from Steam. However that still potentially means several hours to grab all the files.

Again join with others in hoping there are some meaningful core fixes - more graphics tuning options, more save slots, chaining run save issues sorted and many more to justify putting a 6 on the box.

    Agree with Old Vern.

Download Day annoys the living daylights out of me, especially due to install size of DLC.

I really don't think the only advertising point of TSW6 over 5 other than "you can no longer buy new DLCs for 5" should be "key optimizations", unless there's some super big features that are to be announced, I am really curious as to how TSW 6 unlocks some technical advancement that couldn't just be an update to 5.... But I guess ill spend the 1-3hrs redownloading all my DLCs except peninsula corridor, and either say goodbye to those 3 DLCs or keep 5 installed for them.

But hey at least the upgrade is free again

Yeah, I don't understand why they're doing it this way. Do they not see that it only serves to confuse and inconvenience? Have they ever actually talked about why they're doing it this way? At least before the free upgrade became a thing, one might argue that it was a quick buck for "upgrading", but is it worth segregating the community?
