Been speaking to a mate and he brought up an interesting point. Store pages. “New Releases” specifically. Statistics and pushing it to new players. It makes sense from a business perspective if this is the case. I have 1.6gbps internet so this once a year hassle isn’t a huge deal for me. But it’s annoying, and I feel for those that do have slower internet.

If the game is still on gen 8 then it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect flawless optimisation.

Oh yeah! I really can't wait for the agony downloading all the routes again, hurray! I can grab the excitement of inital crashes and the wait for hotfixes. Uh uh uh and I crave the amount of underwhelming content.
Man this time you really really really have to blow my mind into space to make me looking forward to this.

Yeah, the last two releases appeared on the 'whats hot' section right at the top of the PS5 store page, that kind of visibility is going to shift a lot of copies.

I wonder will there be improvements because on some routes even though I'm running 4K I'm still getting some sort of stutters. For the route in Germany my guess it's International for this one

It also means all previous customer reviews of DLC become hidden when it is ported over into the new version, on Steam at least.

Basically they said ‘My Tsw5 on Ps5 has 377 GB. I'm really looking forward to reinstalling it all. Thank you DTG for TSW 6.’

Also, you might wanna check your spelling…;)

I mean, it can be. Let’s ignore everyone’s varying levels of patience and “first world problems.”

it very much can be annoying, especially when it’s every year. It’s just a monotonous task that most people would rather go without having to do. If you’re stuck on 30mbps, which a lot of the UK is, as is many parts of the world, downloading 400gb+ every year quickly become even more frustrating. It could even take numerous days too, especially with work commitments etc.

Yeah it’s getting annoying for those of us that own a ton of DLC because all this becomes is an annual exercise re-downloading 200+gb of DLC.

They should make it in a few different packages. What I mean is one german package, one UK package, one US package, one rest of the world package. Mainly to save some extra space for those who only play in one country.

As much as this isn’t a surprise, and I’m all for more TSW, I really do think you guys need to consider changing things up with regards to having to redownload EVERYTHING, for those of us with poor internet (rural British dweller here) it makes the whole transfer process so painful.

I woul like to know, what you guys (UK, US) have Internet Speed? I live in Munich, expensive city as hell, and Internet in Germany is its own story. Even in Spain Islands on the Atlantic, you have faster Mobile Internet than I have with Telekom. Not mentioned many dead points here in the suburban area.

We are paying about 35 to 40 Euros per month for 100 Mbit. If you want more, your wallet bells are ringing (Glasfiber)

Def a good thing offering the free update, but IMO, I think it would be way better to just update the core game to new version (= free starter pack) and release the new content in seperate packs to buy additionally.
If it has to stay the current way for whatever reason, please look at ways to re-use the last versions game files in some way. >330GB re-download is a massive annoyance and not everyone has access to high speed internet.
( Looking up DLC in steam is getting kinda funny, too. You look for 1 route and find like 5 (then 6 - if this goes on at some point 20?) results that all are the same thing. XD )

My 1.6gig costs me £67.99 a month. It’s the cheapest option available to me for those speeds. Other providers (not currently in my area) can do the same for about £40 a month.

25 versions of the class 66 is an over-statement. If you have PC Editor installed, you can locate all class 66 based plugins and the actual amount of class 66 is around 12-15. but i do get what your tynna say, its becoming silly with every new british dlc, for the devs to re-hash the same class 66 over and over again.

At this point, i really just dont know the reasoning for TSW6 to still yet support Gen8 consoles. Manchester Airport dlc just recently dropped and that is only for Gen9/PC platforms.

DTG still have a significant proportion of their Train Sim World player base who play on Gen 8 consoles, and in addition, their teams have been continuing to focus on optimisation work aimed to improve experience across all platforms.

It is reasonable to expect that Gen 8 platforms may have a different experience to Gen 9, but we'll confirm any details we can closer to release.

Thats fair. however, my point was kinda pointing in the direction of... any possible complex route dlcs that get released over the next year would quite possibly not be released for Gen8. Maybe less complex routes can possibly still make their way over to Gen8 but not as many.

So as this is TSW6 it will be a new game right? I mean a new core with significant improvements. (otherwise it would just be a TSW5 update lol). So I am thinking will the terrible weather system be improved? At least for it not to get dark when its normally still light? Now strangely Armstrong Powerhouse recently said they were going to release information of a massive project they were working on and had been for years. Then they removed the comment from their newsletter! lol,. Could the two be linked? If not they should be. As other people have suggested, Unreal Engine 5 or DLSS or some significant change to the core should be forthcoming. Remember volumetric fog? Like we needed more of the stuff! lol

I'm sure DTG enjoys the months it takes to republish all the DLC, and then make sure it all works with the new version, and re-certify with Sony and MS.

Sounds like a fun time to me.

Unlikely to be a move to UE5 as that would mean compatibility is lost from all previously released dlc as stated by DTG’s EP in the past. DLSS isnt something they are looking at either….so my best guess is that its more of the same…i.e TSW5.5

DTG clearly have all the info on what hardware players are using & I bet that a fair few still use gen 8. However, I do believe that they need to drop gen 8 pronto…

You could be a little nicer, please. Not everyone in the world speaks English.
Here's a line you can cut and paste for next time.
"Please write in English, it's required on this forum. Thank you!"
    There you go, much nicer.

Plus, it's 2025, google translate even works in this forum. Took a second.

The quality build that goes into Just Trains and now ATS routes, it's got to happen.
My PC is really good, but I know I'll have to upgrade it at some point.

TSW has always flickering issues with textures because we have no DLSS.
It help a lot on The Bus and Subway Sim 2 for NVIDIA Players

Inevitable...but given DTG has revealed TSW6 early, it's clear that they damn well know that everyone knows TSW is going to be a yearly release.

Still currently debating on whether or not I should sit this version out, not because of the same copy and paste reasons that people who do nothing but complain about paying for a new iteration of this game series being released (that's being offered for free mind you), but because my favorite route, Peninsula Corridor and it's respective DLC, may or may not be ported over to TSW6 due to license expiry.

And considering that there ARE methods in which the CalTrain DLC CAN be ported over on Steam as well as consoles, even as unlisted content, I really don't see why they couldn't (I really don't think the conversations between DTG and CalTrain stipulated anything about the CalTrain content NOT to be ported over to TSW6, just as long as it's not being distributed on any platforms for monetary value.)

I am not willing to lose storage to have TWO versions of TSW installed on my PC just to play two routes that weren't ported over to the newest TSW game (Penninsula Corridor, and NEC: NY). At the same time, I am not willing to play a new version of TSW that doesn't have something that I paid for with my own money, included in it.

Guess we'll see what happens when more info comes out on August 26th...

Case in point, everyone today that is complaining about DTG supposedly forcing people to pay for a new Train Sim World game, when in actuality, you can just install the newest version for free when it comes out so that way you can save money, then buy whatever routes that come out later in the game series later.

I’m of the belief that the general consensus is more around the fact that every year people are expected to re-download nearly half a terabyte of data. I don’t understand any complaints surrounding having to buy TSW6 given its base is going to be free. At least, for a limited time.

So, as I own TSW5 currently, I can download the free starter pack and carry my DLC’s over, and never need pay for the game? Only payments made will be future DLC’s?
