In the latest TSW roadmap, we got confirmation that Rivet Games will be releasing a Class 170 in CrossCountry livery with the old headlights and Lazzarini seats. While it's an interesting pack in its own right, something also interesting is that the XC livery is fully licensed. This means DTG have got the license back - so is there any possibility of the XC Class 220 returning to TS?

The new 170 I feel will only be a layer for the BCC DLC (Its one oft he only DTG DLC not on sale at steam so make that of what you will)

While we already have XC voyagers in TSC with JT and there are reskins out their for the JT version in XC and XC with Avanti colours ..if you mean TSW, a license doesn't mean another train, look at the Northern License for TSW they can only use 323s, or any of the Cargo packs all we get are 66s! While the LNER license hasn't brought the 91 into the fold...

With TSW now I tend not to get too carried away with what they show on the roadmaps until the DLC is out and we really know whats under the covers

TSC (Train Simulator Classic) is how it's usually abbreviated.

Wow how pedantic. It was TS before it became TSC. Doomtron has been with the product for quite some time!

It's been TSC for over four years. You have to remember that newcomers to the hobby are only familiar with current things. It's not supportive of them to use outdated language.

Except the person who asked joined this group in 2018 and well before TS became TSC

A lot of the DLC that is available for this game are based on real life trains that are more that 4 years old.
Should the descriptions of these trains be changed to suit newer people that don't know how to find out what a code means?

I don't understand your point. Talking about Virgin when you mean Aviva will make you look foolish, and the Class 86 has been the Class 86 forever.

Talking about looking foolish - who is Aviva?
And if I'm talking about a Virgin Pendolino or Voyager it would be pointless to call them Avanti.

I think you misunderstood my post. There was a DTG Class 220 in XC livery available for a number of years, which was delisted when CrossCountry were going to lose their franchise. That ended up not happening, but the various CrossCountry DLCs were not delisted. Most of them were re-released without the CrossCountry branding, but the Voyager wasn't.

Amusingly, the DTG Class 220 could tilt despite the real one not being able to. Their later 221s were more accurate, and they have the correct bogies rather than being simple reskins of the 220. The JT one is more popular, but has a number of flaws that means there's currently no ideal Voyager in TS.

As for TSW, I've spoken on this forum in the past that only DTG decide what trains to make. The LNER license is not required for them to make a Class 91 for TSW, as an example. The Train Simulator Class 91 - one of the worst trains DTG have ever developed - was originally going to be in East Coast livery, but that didn't happen so they went for a terribly textured InterCity livery. Ironically, they added the East Coast livery years later.
I've been playing TS since 2013, and the Train Simulator names was used long before then. TS and TSC is pretty much interchangeable; I use TS because that's what I've always known it as.

The real ones definitely do tilt. Very noticeably in the very frequent instances when you can't find a seat.

Yes indeedy :). The hope for DTG/TSC getting anything new would seem to be remote given their 'abandonment' of the game.

Since the turn of the year there have been 13 new TSC items released on Steam compared with 15 for TSW so not quite abandoned. The glaring gap is the absence of UK route content which is what some vocal members in the UK community have been lobbying for over many years with their constant third party is brilliant and DTG is rubbish mantra. Now most of the third party payware heroes are firmly ensconced in the DTG tent looking out as we enjoy the brave new world of £38 multiple unit packs.
I seem to remember the class 220 was very poorly reviewed so the only reason for releasing it again would be to allow first day purchasers to give it another kicking with scathing reviews and first look videos. Which would be nice for them I guess.

Not 220s. The Avanti 221s did, and the CrossCountry ones had it in the past. The 220s never had the ability to tilt.

@malmac...Note the quotes ;-). I like the game a lot but do not think DTG has developed anything since their, mostly, 'abandoned' software upgrade. I really hope to be proven wrong about future upgrades!!

I believe DTG tested the water and decided that future development was not financially justified. We are still in a confused state to better understand what will be provided. There have been mixed messages regarding TSC2025 and the lack of a follow on promised communication. Feels like we are getting a cold shoulder. Meanwhile some discussions were had regarding TSW and DTGs reasons for limiting route length. For those of us who have an interest in larger rail network it appears 3rd party TSC will be the only path available in the foreseeable future.
    Respectfully

They could buy the Just Trains version - it works quite well and is better than the DTG offering
    It is also available in
    • CrossCountry (current)
    • CrossCountry (transitional)
    • Virgin Trains 'Flowing Silk' (221101 '101 Squadron')
    • Virgin Trains mid-2000s Red with CrossCountry logo
    • Virgin Cross Country

The DTG one is much better looking. The JT one is functionally better, but with the flaw that the tilting is set up to happen at any speed which is completely unrealistic. Both have pretty poor sounds, and the discontinued AP sound pack wasn't that good either.
