Pretty bland roadmap. Nothing new except TSW6 which was the biggest non-surprise since Meghan Markle's show flopping.

As for the Rivet pack: there's already a free mod which does all of the above plus Cross-Country HSTs, and TfW trains without having to buy Cardiff.

Speaking as a primarily PS5 player I'm grateful we aren't repeating the Canadian Oakville passenger situation of nothing official being made because there is already a mod, really looking forward to Birmingham coming to life with so much extra traffic.

The Flixtrain BR 193 was $16.99 and just a simple reskin with coaches.
Didn't even get a full new timetable.
    BR 155, BR 363, BR 182... just re-releases for $19.99

There is precedent for crazy high prices for reskins.
Even the Heritage Collections of reskins were $14.99 and they had 6 reskins and 6 scenarios on 1 route.

I believe the new 170s do have a bit changed interiors and there's a timetable with maybe another layer or two.

I'd guess it's going to be quite a bit more.
    Probably $16.99 or $19.99.

Agreed. Nothing exciting. Things expected for TSW5 now may be coming for TSW6, some having been on the Roadmap since dinosaurs roamed the Earth.
Of course we don't know about the core routes to come, but I suspect they will be as meh as those for TSW5 last year. Then I got suckered in to the deluxe pack. Not this time around. Free starter pack and cherry pick dlc.

    Ho hum.

So Rivet Games has been allowed to develop a new timetable for BCC? Wonderful! That’ll be bolloxed up then. Rivet are truly useless and they keep being allowed to make a mess of things.

Still no mention of the Fife 158 timetable?

Oh, but I'll be able to spend £20 for the privelage of driving Rivet's mediocre 170 on a 5 minute run around Birmingham's suburbs! Yay....

I'd be much more excited if it was coming to MML, as while Derby to Nottingham isn't exactly a thrilling run, it's far more substantial than University or Aston to New Street...

I'd be hesitant to spend more than £5 for the ability to drive on such a pathetically short run, regardless of how welcome the layers are. Only encouraging thing about this is that XC are in TSW now, which is great as I've always felt that the Voyager is a train the game would really benefit from, arguably more than any other modern DMU, simply because of it's layering potential. I mean, I think it'll layer onto most if not all of the modern British routes that aren't in the south east.

I have come to the conclusion Rivet must know where the bodies are buried. That’s the only way they could have such leverage to push their mostly mediocre products into the TSW store.

Please excuse my ignorance but with the new release of the WMR/XC Class 170 for TSW5, l understand that WMR stands for West Midlands Railway but can someone please honestly tell me what XC stands for?

One other thing we need to touch on, is what’s meant by “Brand New Titles.”?

    Cue some speculation…
    A golf game.
    A truck game.
    The return of Lemmings.
The return of Jungle and Desert Strike.
    Dusted off Flight Sim World.
They bought the rights to the old Microprose MilSims. Looking forward to reacquainting myself with Gunship 2000, F15 Strike Eagle and F117 Stealth Bomber amongst others.

Mind wouldn’t get too excited as you only have to look at the tumbleweeds in the Fishing and Catan forums plus the rapid ditching of CTS to see the lifespan of other DTG products. Not forgetting the disgraceful way they ditched FSW.

Or there's just not enough third party developers interested in making anything for TSW.
Which is what several DTG members have said....

My personal guess is that the Thomas expansions proved successful and they will be doing a full game at some point.

I do very much suspect that is the case. Even SHG have backed off from doing new routes or motive power.

That would be great, splinter it off into another game, separate forum, never have to hear of it again! :D;)

I am glad that Rivet is back in TSW under his own name. I am waiting for new works from the guys and hope that they will be at a high level.

My personal request to Rivet, give us a 170 suspension with the new game pack.

I hope so. The complete Island of Sodor and all the trains (over time) would be quite fun to collect.

Given that it'd almost have to share the same core and programming, I'd expect they'd just treat it as a separate "country" in TSW and then people could just avoid it like they avoid German or US content.

So rivet, instead of finishing Fife, have moved on to another mini cash grab?

Gotcha. The poor treatment of customers runs through every fibre of this franchise.

So you would rather not have those trains at all? They exist in real life so why is it a bad thing and suddenly becomes a cash grab

Do you need me to write you a thesis?

They started a job and didn’t finish it. Now they are working on another job. The reason they are working on this is because it pays and finishing the other job doesn’t, they’ve already had their cash.

[Deleted; insulting - DTG Harry] Why do you endorse this behaviour?

    1. It will be a cash grab if they charge a premium for the new liveries and basic cosmetic changes..

    2. Rivet really should fix their products before moving on with others

Is it the same one team working on both projects?
    If not, then they're unrelated.

There's a difference between "haven't completed yet" and "can't do something else at the same time."
    That's why it matters.
A delay in one team doesn't make a new project impossible.

There is nothing to finish on Fife for Rivet. Skyhook are making the new timetable to go with their SR 158.

Dude, play the 170 on that route. It sounds awful.

I tested the 170 on Midland Mainline and it sounds better. And as someone from Leicester, I know what a 170 should sound like lol

In that case, you could never start a new project, as there is always something to fix. Not very realistic (Although a bit sad...)

I'd understand small issues. But audio for the train is a massive issue. Ruins the immersion massively

I don't understand the constant bashing of Rivet Games.

I don't think they make bad addons. And after all, the worst addon for Train Sim World doesn't come from Rivet either. BR 187 is all I can say. And it's by far the worst.

Everyone wants Rivet Games to update their content. Yes, then Dovetail Games should set a good example and make updates for their content first.

Isle of Wight (old and new) are good addons and Bernina is also a great addon. The sounds Rivet uses for pressing buttons and switches in Cab are some of the best in the game in my opinion.
And let's not forget the train announcements, which - as far as I can remember - only exist in Rivet add-ons. Not perfect, but in the right Direction.

The fact that not everything is of the best quality is not only the case with Rivet Games, but also with the main developer Dovetail Games. For me, there are no differences.

I just hope that Skyhook Games never releases another add-on.

The main issue with the 170 as noted is the almost complete lack of track running sounds and a few oddities at speed with the engine sounds.

However it is a simple fact that Rivet have a track record of releasing flawed content, then leaving it to fester while their “team(s)” jump on the next project or commission from DTG. WCL remains their absolute nadir where they can’t even fix a simple erroneous speed limit on the St Ives branch, or correct a word starting with a lower case instead of capital letter on a sign at Truro.

Skyhook really upped their game you know. Midland Mainline (after the updates) and the Cargo line packs are good quality and a far cry from the abomination that was the BR 187.

True. Rivet made a few good things (Island line 2022 and Bernina come to mind) but the rest is at best mediocre.

    Agree to disagree.

    I've really enjoyed their stuff.

    New and old.

The only thing that was "meh" to me was West Cornwall route textures, but they're hardly alone there.

    Isle of Wight
    Both swiss alps runs
    Fife Circle
    The woefully underused BR 204.

    Agree to disagree.

No, absolutely agree to disagree. Should be more of that in this forum :)
Btw, the real crime with the 204 is that it layers onto nowhere. Nice classic loco.

Luckily I don't know how that sounds IRL :)

Would have been the same to me with the Dutch trains if they would have sounded badly (which they don't)

The TSW version is just about passable, just enough that I'll use it.

But the sounds are far from what it actually sounds like irl.

I'm not sure why the 204 isn't used more. It fits everywhere, but was just not expanded in TSW.

I saw it appear as static AI on the new Koln timetable. Only place I have spotted it other than on MSB.

I was on the only 218 service on the new Köln timetable and it spawned as the second loco behind it, was fun.
