I frown upon these types of attitudes. There's a very annoying bug on WCMLOS and Mittenwaldbahn where if you drive from the number 2 cab (on the 87 its the cab without the pantograph above you) when you press the '2' camera, it shows the last coach. Its extremely annoying. I like JT but I don't enjoy the fact that, on the preview streams, they have avoided showing the '2' camera. When they show the exterior they always press '3' which is unusual for a regular player.
Maybe the bug happens, but what a silly way to imply theytiptoed around it. "Pressing 3 is unusual" is not a good take. I love 3.
This is super annoying playing on controller as well tbh, because when you click RS for the free camera your train is already past you heading into the distance so forget about watching your train pass you by. Anytime i load into the #2 cab starting a service i just sigh and shake my head lol. Devs, please just setup services to use cab #1 when possible. I get it will happen sometimes no matter what but for A-B runs across the whole route it's like, come on.
Alright, even if they aren't hiding it, the bug is annoying; and alot of people use 2. I use it as a choice and console players have to after all
This also happens on a lot of the other BR loco/coach services and some class 66 services too. So it's been around for longer than Shap/Mittens. It is a little annoying but I've just taken to using a keyboard or just using thumbstick and Dpad to swap to the 3 cam.
Cant agree with you less on this sorry, there’s subtle differences between cabs (the cl 87 being large differences for example sounds entirely different in cab 2 compared to cab 1) and I want to be able experience theses. Especially when the trade off to me is so insignificant (cam 3 is far superior to cam 2 IMO)
Not a (hidden) bug, this has always been the case in all TSW parts, if cab 2 is leading, pressing 2 once shows the end of the train, pressing 2 again and you are at the loco. The same applies to the 8 camera, if cab 1 is leading, the train moves toward the camera, if cab 2 is leading, the train moves away from the camera.
This is not a bug, they intentionally programmed it to behave like this, it was the same even in TS Classic as well.
Isn't the cab you're in based primarily on which direction you are travelling? Head one direction on a route and you'll be in cab 1, for the return journey you'll be in cab 2. Not sure I want the devs to strip out half the runs just because some people don't like how the camera works.
So the first thing to remember is that there are two cameras for the 2 and 3 camera slots. Press 2 or 3 a second time to toggle to the other camera. Keep pressing to toggle back and forth. Second thing - currently the cameras are at index 0 in the consist and index "end" in the consist. Not necessarily the direction of travel. Index 0 usually has the loco for example. But if a train has driven loco first up the line and then drives say cab car first back down the line, index 0 is still with the loco and now at the back. This also happens where a loco drives up the route say going "north", uncouples, runs around, and then drives out going "south" - index 0 now has a coach on it and index "end" has the loco on it. Hence the first 2 camera will show the coach and pressing 2 again will show the loco. The positions for the cameras are remembered too - so if you fly the 3 camera around along the train you can simply treat them as two repositionable cameras - and swap them over if you want even. It's not intuitive but there is reasoning behind it. All it takes is one more press on the 2 key though to get you where you want to be. Matt.
I don't even know what 2 and 3 are i play on controller. Is that the exterior cams? I'm fine with that because you can reposition those. i'm talking about the free cam toggle (click RS). All i know is whenever the game starts me in cab 2 (Matt explained it's slightly more complicated than that but whatever) clicking RS puts the free cam behind the train instead of ahead of it, so the train drives away from instead of towards the player. You also can't quick move the free cam with controller anymore (i think TSW4 or 5 broke that) so it's already harder to set up that perspective. I can't find any way to adjust it and it's dumb. Not the end of the world but it annoys me lol.
Oh! I hadn't even realised that... I'll get a bug raised and on the list to look at...you can fly the camera around though - once you click the camera you can then fly to move it to the right place, but, I acknowledge that's poor
Thanks i appreciate it! There also used to be a a way to make the free cam fly faster (like holding shift on keyboard) with controller. I forget what the binding was but it doesn't work anymore maybe that could be looked at as well.
