Neither of these really need any introduction as they have been discussed numerous times in the various JT threads… Class 108 DMU. Far more at home on the Lancashire and Cumbria branch lines than the Class 101. Potential application for use on other BR Classic routes as these were amongst the last heritage DMU’s to be withdrawn from main line service. A number have been preserved so access for details and sounds should not be a major issue. Mark 3 Sleeping Cars.. As either SLE or SLEP (with pantry). These are currently a major omission from overnight trains on WCMLOS which did not run with Mark 3 day coaches. Consists were generally a mix of sleeping cars, Mark 2 (both non aircon and aircon) seated coaches and BG’s. IMHO this would be an ideal follow up to the Class 86 pack and would also fit in with any other plans JT might have to add more stretches of the WCML to TSW.
1000 times yes, throw in an updated timetable to BPO with the electric stock at Preston and new coaches from WCMLOS and I’m a happy man
Absolutely yes ! Especially a new 1st gen DMU! I'm craving for a 80s West Midlands/North Western route! I'd say, Mk2 sleeper sets would be my choice (widely used compared to Mk3s)!
JT have comfirmed that they do plan to completely overhaul the BBO timetable to allow for the class 87 & 86 to layer on which will include locomotive changes at Preston.. This was announced back in late 2024 and as off mid-July 2025, this is still in the planning phase
