    Hi,
Is there anyway to include a UP Big Boy 4-8-8-4 steam engine to TSW? no one has mentioned anything about adding an American steam engine to the TSW.

This is a hard one because yes I like steam. But not the way its done in TSW.

So until the fix the physics for more realism I won't be purchasing anything steam related. And as they have said several times they are not investing any more time in improving the physics.

I would like to see the Big Boy too in TSW but, given that steam is dead (for the moment) and how complex is the Big Boy compared to other steam locomotives, there’s no chance to see it anytime soon.

Who knows, a very talented third party team might be able to do it.

Only person I see qualified to do it would be Smokebox, but I don't think he would with the current steam physics.

1.Steam, so far as we know, is dead in TSW.
    2. A Big Boy is going to push the limited steam capacity of Simugraph beyond its limits.
    3. If the Smokebox TSC version is anything to go by, it will be fiendishly complex to drive and reserved for expert level players.

Even if you discount 1 through 3:-

    4. The present DTG management team would never commit the time and budget to embark on such a project.

    5. Any putative 3rd party would be dissuaded by DTG's lack of interest in steam.

    ( a poll is unnecessary. I replied to the OP's suggestion ).

Yes - all true.. but after being up close and seeing Big Boy in real life simmering away waiting to pull out of Houston and having struggled to run it in TSC - I would still LIKE to see it in TSW - pipe dream though that it is...

Oh totally agree. Once you've seen it in real life, you can't ever forget the sight of #4014 in full steam. Would love to see it modeled for TSW. Course you'd have to build a 1940's route to run it on too. :D

Having grown up with steam, to me it is a thing of beauty - but I want it just for the wail of the whistle!

Hypothetically, given a choice of the big boy (fnar) appearing in TSW but using what physics are currently present for the current steam locos, or not having it at all, which would people choose?

I would choose not. Even if some simplification is unavoidable, subjecting such a magnificent beast to the dumbing down steam currently requires would be an insult to the machine.

Especially, as I and LeadCatcher said, if you've seen it pass you by in real life. Its size and length are one thing, but its complexity would make modeling it a nightmare.

If they can't match Smokebox's TSC version, don't bother.
