We're probably due a UK route from DTG soon, hopefully before year-end. What would you like to see next? I'm torn between Southampton - Woking, something left-field and new like C2C or a refreshed classic like London - Brighton (maybe Victoria & Blackfriars, maybe Bedford even). I think C2C or something else fairly modern under the wires. Any thoughts on what you'd like on TS for Christmas?
From what I remember the Thameslink core isn't done. I could be wrong though. Always better to have an official release. It's been a sparse time for official UK releases of late. 2 on SWT, 2 for NW Wales in the last three years and a few existing routes moving to Steam. I'm not including the Leicester Coal one, it's getting appalling reviews and wasn't a DTG route. Thank god for Just Trains and freeware builders.
Never got this point... the best UK line released since I've been in TSx is Wherry Lines, and that's an AP product. Add to this the ECML, WCML, Cross Birmingham... all done by third parties. Thamslink Core, North Kent Lines...
God no. It's like when your favourite band release a novelty track. Waste of time and effort that could have been spent doing something good. Re: Official Release: I'm including AP, JT and others in the "Official Release" comment. Likewise stuff like Backdated where it's just a download package and you're done. The big problem with a lot of freeware is that you need other routes which can work out expensive, not all of them come with any scenarios, which puts some players off. Not everyone has the disk space to have another 3 or 4 routes in their directory and not everyone is confident downloading files and moving files around either, I know a couple of players who stick to Steam DLC for example. So hence my comment that a route released as a product is always favourable, especially if it's on Steam so there's a database of workshop scenarios too.
Agreed, and also some things become no longer available for various reasons (thinking AP VTEC stuff) and people don't update their scenarios to accommodate this
