I’m hopeful for this but I do have my doubts since other third parties and DTG have hyped stuff up before and they turned out to be slightly underwhelming
Speculation in this thread is rather pointless if not a little embarrassing since one of the posters apparently knows what the content is and when it is likely to be released. It's like guessing what you'll get for your birthday when your parents have already shopped. It's a game of charades in which one person is teasing everyone else. If there is a route on the horizon, we should leave it there until there's some concrete information or screenshots. We've been through too many of these guessing games.
Probably because that poster is one of the All Aboard Simulations developers, so does in fact know it all.
I very much can’t wait Kezz! When you give us a model of Crewe Modern station and make us wait painfully with nothing else for 3 months makes some of us impatient ahaha. Always wanted a Crewe modern in the game! Thanks for bringing this in the game! Excited to see what the actual route is! Good luck with the development!
Exactly. There's something rather pathetic about a guessing game when one person in the room knows the answer and enjoys teasing everyone else. If you're going to be in the thread, why not come out and tell everyone what the route is? DTG and its partners are too fond of this kind of charade. They need to be more transparent about upcoming developments.
I don't feel in any way insecure about having a developer in here looking at my comments and guesses, why should I? It's a hobby, there are far more important things in life and the world around us to be worried about. I hope you all realise that all of the developers look at these forums and are probably finding many of our guesses funny. Especially the good people at DTG who have to moderate this forum. I very much doubt anyone enjoys "teasing everyone else" or that they can legally "come out and tell everyone what the route is" because they will be subject to NDAs as part of their partner programme contract. That's how contract law works, for anyone who doesn't know. The comment from the member of All Aboard Simulations was perfectly fine, it was not teasing, it was not rude and I believe it was done in a spirit of getting the community excited. For people to suddenly turn it into a negative and another opportunity to rage at DTG is very funny.
Well the excitement will be proportional to whichever of the “Crewe” based routes it might be. We can perm any one from… Crewe to Manchester (ish). Crewe to Preston (ish). Crewe to Chester and maybe out along the NWC. Crewe to Shrewsbury or maybe even Hereford. Crewe to Stafford or maybe even Rugby. Crewe to Stoke and Derby. We can probably rule out a section of the WCML proper as that seems to be JT’s bag. The Manchester route seems unlikely as it will step on ATS toes. Which leaves Chester/NWC, Shrewsbury/Marches or the Potteries Line the likely possibilities.
Pathetic huh? That is a rather rude and personal insult... Quite funny in fact when you were the one lecturing me about making personal comments last week! How the tables have turned. To me some developers can't win if they interact with the community, and they can't win when they do not interact with the community. They either get unjust criticism like for being radio silent. Or they get called personal insults like 'pathetic' for trying to engage. I always find it quite refreshing when Devs like Kezz interact with us, keep us updated and give us little teases and keep us guessing! Ofcourse they won't reveal the title, they are not allowed to because of agreements with DTG. But they can interact and give us small clues it's all part of the game. It also keeps us engaged and intrigued (well I speak for myself). What would you rather, a developer like Rivet who do not interact with the community, ignore feedback and are completely radio silent. Or would you rather a friendly and interactive developer who interacts and keeps us guessing with small clues? Either way you can interact with the thread, or if it bothers you that much just ignore the thread completely? But I personally really appreciate and like Kezz's interaction on the thread and on the forums! Keep at it, and keep us guessing!
This is my own personal opinion on this subject, I really don't care if they are teasing or being radio silent, as long as they are making stuff I'm happy, whenever stuff is released if I want it I'll be buying it. Don't care for the games and the politics surrounding their products, just the products themselves. Won't place any Devs or the company the work for on a pedestal singing praise or bash them into the ground, they are all equal and all products they make will all have bugs. The extremes of people on here either kissing arse or bashing like their lives depend on it I just find completely insane.......
Well if it does go through Crewe rather than that being the terminating point it does open up a few interesting possibilities. Anyhow, let's hope their model of Crewe station is better proportioned than the one in SoS which always looked on the small side, particularly the height of the platform canopies.
Seem to remember when the Pendo came out that DTG said Avanti had wanted only the refurbished units represented in the game, so wouldn’t hold out too much hope for an Avanti Voyager given they’re no longer in use.
They'll announce it when they're ready, I guess. Maybe DTG want it to be part of the August Direct? I don't see how a dev being excited about their project is "pathetic", though- that's a pretty strange take IMOM
I'm sorry you feel that way. Our goal is to be engaging with the community as much as we possibly can, whether that be on the forums or other social media. The reality is, we would love to share what the product is however due to legal obligations, we are not able to at the moment. The teasers and so forth are a way for us to not just see what people guess but to also possibly gauge an interest of what people may want in the future if their guess isn't correct. My final point is this, we don't want to announce something too early and then everyone is left hanging for months or maybe years before the product is released and in your hands. We want to ensure that anything we tease or announce means that you won't be waiting a long time for it but of course there are many factors that are involved when it comes to releasing a product which has been discussed on quite a few different DTG streams. I will leave it here for now though, if I see anything else that I know I can safely respond to I will otherwise I will be back around whenever our first entry into TSW as a studio is announced. Enjoy your week everyone
With all due respect…every developer/studio says that…the proof of the pudding will be how good the route looks and the timetable. I’ll hold judgement until we see something concrete!
Crewe to Brum? It's a little over 50 miles so not without the realms of possibility, albeit coming from a new studio with the learning curve that entails.
Not necessarily… Just it seems a more likely fit for JT’s next section of the 80’s WCML,even on to Preston in terms of service structure. Though that would definitely need a Class 304 or 310 maybe a 312 for the local services.
Gotta say, Doing Crewe to Birmingham New Street is a massive task. As That includes 3 major stations (thankfully Birmingham is modelled) But you got Wolverhampton and obvs Crewe. But that amount of modelling is massive as it would include doing the Chase Line and the surrounded scenery. Oxley Car depot where they store the 390s and Soho depot which be great! Would be a great run in the 350 and 390. So many options it is exciting!
Not too fussed. Just need to make sure they add at least one new train to TSW. Too many routes, not enough trains in this sim.
60s steam WCML from Crewe to Brum with route hopping to SOS and new timetable for SOS to hook up with the new route
I'm liking your train of thought Fred, full puns fully intended and stopping at a station called Crewe......
For some reason I assumed (I know, stupid me) that this was the American company, All Aboard, who did a few really good American routes for what's now TSC. Rich Garber, where are you, man?
