Im having trouble getting my 2nd loco to fire up behind a leading 86, whether it be an 86/2 or an 87. Quoting directly from google so theres a small chance its wrong but: "Yes, Class 86/2 and Class 87 locomotives could work together in multiple working situations on the West Coast Main Line (WCML) during the 1980s. This was possible because some Class 86 locomotives were fitted with multiple working equipment compatible with Class 87s" Am I missing some sort of valve or switch on the 2nd loco or is this just another episode of TSW being bugged or inaccurate?
The 86/2 variant could not work in multiple. It was mentioned by JT on the streams. Over on the facebook group people have been repainting them to represent the Freightliner 86/6, only to go into the sim and find it doesn't work.
Some 86/4s recieved MU systems but it wasn't all of them, many went right through to privatisation without them. It wasn't until the 86/6 that a subclass arrived which universally had them. The /2s, while fundamentally identical to the /4s just having been refitted at an earlier point, were all just used on passenger and so never recieved the MU connectors.
You cant run 86/2s in multiple since they don't have the necessary Multiple Working/TDM sockets to communicate with each other. Nor do they have the secondary tap changer gauge in the cab either like the 87s do
