I would like to suggest the London Kings Cross to Peterborough section of the East Coast Mainline set in the Modern era, either as an extension to the current Peterborough to Doncaster (preferable), or as a standalone route. Stations This section of the East Coast Mainline includes the following stations: London Kings Cross Finsbury Park Harringey Hornsey Alexandra Palace New Southgate Oakleigh Park New Barnet Hadley Wood Potters Bar Brookmans Park Welham Green Hatfield Welwyn Garden City Welwyn North Knebworth Stevenage Hitchen Arlesey Biggleswade Sandy St Neots Huntingdon Peterborough Freight and Depots The route should also contain various freight/siding and depot locations, including: Nene Carriage Sidings Peterborough Eastfield Yard Biggleswade Sidings Bounds Green T&R. S. M. D Hornsey EMUD Ferme Park Trains The route could include the following trains - either coming with the route, available as separate loco DLC, or layered from previous routes. Not all would be available right away of course due to the sheer quantity, they could be catered for as hidden layers or alternative trains masquerading as those locos, but this section has the potential to offer great variety: Freight: Class 66 LNER: Class 91: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/class-91-intercity-225.91909/ Class 800 Class 801 Grand Central Class 180: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/grand-central-class-180-adelante.91954/ Lumo Class 803 Hull Trains Class 802 Thameslink Class 700 Great Northern 379s 387s and 717s Others: There is also potential for rail tours (with locos such as 37s, 47s in WCRC livery, and steam - among others). Additionally, there could be runs from the network rail HST or 37 set, if these were added to the game at some point. Hertford Loop and Northern City Lines I would also suggest including the Hertford Loop and Northern City Lines
I feel like this would be better sometime 2017 to get the HST's and 91's as well as the Class 365's and 313's from Great Northern/FCC.
Nice suggestion. It would make much more sense if this line could connect to the ECML Peterborough - Doncaste. although an extension towards York station would be also great to have.
Figured modern era would be kind of interesting, as we would have in cab signalling on the moorgate line. Definitely want 91s, but they are still in operation anyway. Personally fonder of the 700s than 313s
Nice suggestion. Would be cool to have London Kings Cross station in the game as well as the Class 91.
I agree. This would also be a great way to get used to ETCS should DTG make, say the Cambrian Line for example, in the future. Especially now some lines are receiving ETCS now (ECML to Stoke Tunnel, Grantham, and the Manchester -> Leeds line as part of the Trans Pennine Route Upgrade)
If this came to TSW and DTG didn't add the Hertford Loop or the Northern City Lines, I would be absolutely livid as the class 717s would have no purpose, especially given the unusual nature of the branch lines, especially the line to Moorgate
I wouldn't be "livid" if they excluded the Hertford Loop, it would make it a very big route to build and could cause the mainline to end at Stevenage (which would leave a gaping hole in the ECML). We have to be realistic with our expectations of what can be made within the release schedule. The Moorgate branch should be doable though but we're still talking a very big and incredibly busy DLC with just the mainline between KX and Peterborough, so again there's a chance if the ECML South did appear, it may not include the Moorgate section especially given challenges with light baking on other underground sections of route in the past.
My dream route tbh, if I ever saw this route made I think I’d have a heart attack. I don’t think DTG would be the route builder though as a project of this size would take anywhere between 9-12 months. I’d personally like to see JT handle this task.
Sorry guys, forgot this was my thread and therefore was just reading rather than responding lol! I think it is very very important to include the northern city line, especially as it is only 3.5 miles. I would very much like for the Hertford Loop to be there, but recognise it is much longer (24 miles). Really would like to see it though, however as you've said, better for there not to be a hole in the ECML. If they can do KGX -> PBO + NCL + HL, ideal, if that's not possible, KGX -> PBO + NCL, if that's not possible, KGX -> PBO. Key point is KGX -> PBO is the most important, branches would be fantastic but not more important. (Where NCL = Northern City Line, HL = Hertford Loop). I would be happy with JT doing it too - their work looks very well researched and detailed etc. The only thing is that I would want it in the matching era for DON -> PBO though, and I know other forum members have previously expressed concerns at JT coming away from BR blue, as then that may not be covered.
I love the class 91 but I think this route would be better done in the 1980s like the TSC version of east coast main line with the class 55, but that’s just me being biased towards the older eras
I think it’s important it’s in the same era so with route hopping you can do KGX -> DON kind of as if it were one route. A different era wouldn’t make it feel like a continuation if you know what I mean
I know what you mean and I kinda get that specially since the two west coast mainlines but I definitely think for a route like this should have been for 1980s this should also been the case for the original route Sorry asides from my biased for 1980s and before, but definitely a good suggestion but would love a modern route without the Red Devil/ class 66
Speaking of doing a big trip through route hopping it would actually be great if they did Doncaster to Leeds as well so you could basically do an entire trip from King's Cross to Leeds or vice versa
To cater for that they could release a pack featuring BR stock with a new timetable, similar to the diesel of legends pack on GWE.
Would be fine with me - some variety never hurt. Just as long as the base route, signage etc. was all the modern era stuff lol
Yep, imagine if this actually happened and we got both class 91 and class 55 with the two packs, that would be a dream come true (both are some of the most highly requested trains for the game)
I think ideal rolling stock for this route is the 700 (reused), 387 (reused/updated), 800 (new), with 801 and 66 as a layers for owners of PBD, and the 91 as a future dlc. I see this more in scope and in alignment with the typical pattern of included stock seen from new releases. (Ie, 1 new and a few reused/updated)
I agree with the layering capabilities, and that it could be a launch route, but would specifically want the 91 to be a DLC available for purchase at the same time as this releases, if it must be separate and not bundled in.
possible if it’s a launch route then could be included in a deluxe edition. Other routes that aren’t released at launch do tend to have loco add-ons release much later however. (JT’s 86 and TSG’s 420 for eg)
Oh my, imagine if it was set in 1978/79. It would bring the Class 55 (my favourite locomotive) working alongside recently introduced Blue/Grey HSTs and also some Class 47s on secondary Inter-City services. Class 31s on parcel traffic. Class 101s provided the local services north of Hitichin some of which would be in the short-lived white (with a blue line) refurbished livery. Brand new Blue/Grey Class 312s on the commuter trains south of Hitchin. Brand new Blue/Grey Class 313s on the stoppers south of Welwyn Garden City, Highbury Stadium on the opposite side of the line to Finsbury Park loco shed. (I'm an Arsenal and Deltic fan so I'd be in my element). An extraordinary DLC requiring only two new "locos", both of which have been highly requested; the Deltics and the Class 312 EMUs.
