Tinfoil hat time: maybe it’s been delayed to coincide with whatever improvements the 170 is getting as part of the XC pack for Birmingham.

And that’s hope more than expectation.

Given Rivet are doing a WMR and XC 170, could it be they're doing something to the ScotRail 170 as well.

Would make sense I think that they delay the 158 then.

From skyhook insta and Facebook and that ...... Scotrail 158 – Fife Circle Sprinter Timetable Update!

Following communications with Dovetail Games regarding the Sprinter Timetable for the ScotRail Class 158, they have confirmed this update will be arriving after the release of TSW6

That's really bad - having bought the 158 and FCL specifically for the new timetable (yeah yeah, I know I shouldn't have bought it based on a future promise!) - that's really disappointing that it has been further delayed.

It's pretty bad considering DTG have had this since *March* and it'll now likely be late October / November before we get it.

This is comical. DTG have apparently had this update since about March! So they've apparently already had it for four months and are making us wait another 2!

You can really see why Rivet deleted their forums and resorted to trying to hide their work in DTG routes lol. Pretty shady from everyone involved again. And people wonder why a vast majority don't get along with the idea of buying Rivet content.

Can we just get some honesty? Even if it's bad news?

An absolute joke really, you would hope mistakes are learned from but they are often repeated. I would hope DTG look into the causes of this. We obviously don’t know what goes on behind the scenes but there always seems to be trouble when a certain developer is involved

The 158 really should've been a base Fife Circle train alongside the 170...

Can't really blame Skyhook for this fiasco... And if I remember right Skyhook delayed it themselves because of the mess they found FCL in and had to have extra time to work those issues out.

DTG have had it since March, although I presume they've had other add ons Infront of it to publish, as well as preparing TSW6 as a priority... It's certainly a bit of an embarrassing scenario for DTG though!

Deffo not blaming Skyhook here. They've dropped comms about it a fair few times. Not really much they can do if the original dev of the route has left it in such a mess that they have get get things fixed first before creating a timetable and not much they can do if they send it to the publisher and the publisher just sits on it. Alex did say in his last comms about it that it wasn't as simple as just pushing the timetable to us. So I am wondering, especially with what Skyhook have said re. dev issues, if there is also a big FCL patch that has to come with it that enables it to work properly.

It's beyond the stage of even getting angry about stuff like this. DTG clearly couldn't give two hoots, and will continue to let the likes of Rivet Games foister their junk products at us in the hope of making yet more quick bucks.

Fortunately when (if) it comes - as lets be honest it only says "after TSW6" without committing to any kind of date - it will be a free upgrade ,just like the starter pack will be free, as the thought of spending another penny on this game at the minute is not the most appealing.

TSW will likely drop around September/October.

It apparently takes around 3-4 months to build a route, and I think they work on more than one at a time.

This means they'll have been working on TSW6 since around May/June, with little time devoted to anything not TSW6 related.

The 158 was given to DTG for testing in March.

I think it can be safely said that the 158 for Fife Circle was all but guaranteed to be a TSW6 release.

    Timescale seems about right.

Moral of the story: anything slated for release after March/April will likely come with the next TSW release, regardless of what DTG say.

If your after the Scot Rail Br class 158 Leveen Mouth Livery you can find it in free roam & Formation Designer

Also you guys must have missed the "fine" print on the roadmap, which covers their butt if anything is delayed or changes.

Oh and I do mean fine print look at how much it fades into the background its almost hard to read. Way at the bottom right.

It didn’t stop them from advertising the timetable update on the addon itself from multiple months until eventually removing it, some would classify that as false advertising.

still really annoyed about the fact I can’t really use it since I don’t have scotrail express anymore which had a ton of services if I remember correctly

I see your point they do tend to flaunt there upcoming releases but not very honest about the progress is made when Challenged & when they there they are not very Honest about Speculation being there main Excuse. There a bit of business attached to it as well that effects it as well.

Ok but have they ever announced a release date?

And anyone who has ever worked in the game development world knows stuff happens, things get delayed.

GTA VI was estimated to come out this spring. Until they announced in March it won't be until next spring. So are they dishonest?

Train Planet was supposed to come out this spring, ita not around yet.

Simrail was supposed to release in 2021, it didn't get released until 2023.

So.just because you bought something specifically for future content is not on DTG, you should have waited until the TT released or a date was confirmed, not an estimation of a date, before you bought it if that was the case.

It works fine on Scotrail Express its home route it was released with, and on MAC. And its not like a physcal copy that they may run out of either.

Dude it’s almost been a year (two days until a full year) since the scotrail class 158 came out, being in July last year and it talked about the timetable being post update of the levan update which was slightly delayed until November.

meaning they have had more time than some routes hell every few months they talked about it being around the corner and then saying otherwise again and again

most of us bought it when it talked about being for Fife circle including in the product description before it was changed months! Later, some us aren’t going to spend another 30 pounds just to use it, I already bought Fife and then the 158 meaning I spent 43 pounds in total, so there’s no way I’m paying another 30 pounds to get a route which is okay at best, until that goes on sale I ain’t buying it again

why are you defending them anyways?

It isn't the first time or the last time this will happen I've been on this game since it came out.

But your blaming them for your own anticipation/mistake.

The point is you shouldn't have forked over the money until something official had come out.

Considering Scotrail Express was advertised as its home route upon release why buy it until it worked on the route you wanted it for. Heck maybe even a sale will happen on release.

Thats like me saying well I bought Munich Augburg only because the 420 was coming out for it.

And as Adam from skyhook said when they first submitted it in March for QC there were tons of bugs, which they fixed and have resubmitted it to DTG. Who currently has limited resources due to the upcoming release and not a spot to re QC the update since skyhook mucked up the schedule.

I just think your blaming the wrong people, it was Skyhook who delayed it while working on the Cargo packs ( they are a small outfit so not many resources.) And then when they did it was buggy and needed to be fixed. Well DTG have a schedule for all there stuff and becaise of Skyhooks delays now there is no place to schedule updated QC as it peak time for DTG.

Also welcome to the world of game development, this is what happens at times.

But again no one put a gun to your head and said buy this now. So its on you.

Until there is an actual date announced for release anything can happen.

I can see both points of view...

But I don't think it's black and white. Several times the goal posts have been changed for the 158s FCL release causing frustration to myself and others, so I can completely sympathise with people who are frustrated with this and I think it is unfair to think people are being unnecessarily difficult or have unrealistic expectations around the 158 release for FCL.

But, going forward, if I and anyone else has learnt anything from TSW5, is that it is becoming more and more less reliable and predictable with changing the goal posts of release dates, the 86 was late, the 158 even more so, and there are a few other bits I can't think off of the top of my head. I think from now onwards we as a community need to stop placing expectations we know DTG can't keep, until we see certain release dates in the flesh.

I will say in return though, DTG need to also keep their end of this bargain, learn from this experience of the 158 and not tell us there is a time frame for a release that can't be kept, changing the goal posts every so often, and communicating more effectively with the developers who have said it has been ready since March, yet DTG had a different story as to why it was delayed.

The Leven branch was one that was delayed also so we didn't get it until November.

So Skyhook couldn't even work on the timetable until Rivet finished that first.

So there is your first delay.

I think alot of the delays are because its a Rivet route and Skyhook did the timetable.

It also think that because this was the first real cross 3rd party DLC add on mistakes were probably made and lessons learned on how to do it smoother in the future.

But to call people liars is a pretty bold accusation. Decieving yes I give you that but not outright lying.

Every roadmap stream they are very clear things can change.

Ha ha very funny wait for sale, it’s been years I’m still yet to see some routes get a sale on Xbox, and hell I’ve only seen scotrail express go on sale once and then was at the very start of train sim world 4 where my money was tight, obviously I’m going for tsw 4 over one 50% addon

it’s not my fault they hyped up the timetable way too early, its kinda like the class 104 except that’s not available to buy yet and only keeps teasing me every damn time

Scotrail Express has definitely been on sale since then because I bought it in a sale and I bought it during tsw 5.
I also bought the 158 then after holding off for a while due to lack of a Fife circle timetable for it.

On other platforms yes but Xbox during tsw 5 no or at least from what I was able to see from the past sales on Xbox

I’m pretty most of the other scotrail stuff eventually went on sale but definitely didn’t see Scotrail express on there and I would have gotten a notification if that happened

Xbox is so terrible for sales thats why I'm glad to be financially stable (and retired) that I don't have to.

But you are right sales are so far and few on Xbox compared to other platforms and I've noticed that only Cathcart and the 380 have been on sale for Scottish content.

I don't think I've ever seen a 3rd party DLC on sale yet only DTG products since TSW4 was released on Xbox.

Its a shame because the 158 TT really does make a difference to Scotrail Express from when it was first released.

Well hopefully it won't be that long after TSW6 releases, but obviously they are going to put the paid content in front of free stuff especially since JT wants to get paid for the 86, (which I might add took time and space away from DTG from QCing the 158 TT) Rivet for the 170 pack and TSG for the updated Wurzburg TT.

Where this and the GWE remaster people aren't waiting for any piece of the pie.

And from May to September most of the servers are full with 6 versions of the new game, 3 new routes, 3 new locos, plus re QCing every past piece of DLC to make sure it works with said new version.

That doesn't leave much space or time for much else unlike they have from Sep - Apr
