Hi what I would like to know is the correct notches-/speed mph for the class 170 turbostar as I’m wanting to practice ahead of the new pack on Tuesday but am unsure if the correct notches vs mph for each and the 7 to off and off to 7

Like with most power controllers the notch to use can be dependent on the gradient of the track and how quickly you want to accelerate. I got Fife Circle recently in the Playstation summer sale and have found that if you want to have any chance of keeping to time then unless the speed limit is very low, you need to build up to 7 quite quickly and then level down the power when you get close to your target speed.

Also, as the brakes aren't as responsive as a modern EMU you need to come into the platform slower at around 20mph to have a smooth deceleration to your stop marker.

Don’t mistake hydraulic transmission based DMU’s in TSW with those in TSC, where most were incorrectly set up with the throttle position acting as a speed cap - which even slowed you down if you reduced power going downhill. Apply the same principle as the other Sprinters. Start away in Notch 2 or 3 to fill the transmission fluid, then into Notch 5 and finally Notch 7. You just need to vary the power as necessary to maintain train or line speed once you reach it. Similar to driving a car with automatic transmission, albeit those don’t transition into final drive at 45 - 55 MPH, at least not on mine.

IIRC, on the Cardiff preview stream, someone in the chat got Matt to do notch 3 to 5mph, notch 5 to 15mph then notch 7

From memory I think the instruction used to be to start in notch 2-3 then gradual progression through the notches with notch 4 not below 5mph, and notch 7 not below 10mph.

    I was always taught the 3 - 5 - 7 rule. Notch 3 to 5mph, notch 5 until 10mph, and then notch 7 10mph or over when accelerating from a stand still.

And don't forget the hill brake! Left trigger before notch on the throttle. There is also a button on the thtrottle. I don't remember the key on the keyboard. Probably the same as increase brakes.

The problem with the Rivet 170 is notches 6 and 7 don't appear to do anything below about 19mph. You can notch up but the revs don't increase.

Gotta be the WRC version then that's even more rapid at picking up speed than the F40, if you gotta have a Yaris, it's gotta be classy......:D :D :D
