Hi Everyone, here is the Master Feedback Thread for the WMR /XC Class 170 Loco. Please keep all discussions only related to feedback. Birmingham Cross City Gameplay Guide PLEASE provide the game platform you are using in any comments for feedback!
I was looking to pick this up but noticed on a couple of streams that the destination display on the 170s were showing as 'Not in service', and the passenger boards at the station weren't showing the services the 170 was using, correctly. I'd be grateful if someone could confirm that that has been rectified.
Destination screens still not working on ps5 on any of the cross country services, but it does work for wmr, I think it may be a case of if the final destination isn't on the map it displays as not in service.
[PS5Pro] So this is the first pack in long time I’ve grabbed on release (other than JT stuff), even though it was Rivet content I thought it’s just liveries, can’t be that bad. Upon launch I was immediately confronted with the reality of why I’d stopped buying upon release. Not in service bug present (both XC player & AI, WMR seems to be an issue with AI).[Now fixed on the 170’s, still an issue for other AI going to off route locations]. GSMR tone missing. No signal from guard upon door closure & interlock. Textures are now iffy on BCC (not really RG fault, DTG really need to fix this). Ballast is doing weird stuff when you spawn at BHM (similar to the MAC issue), but seems to correct itself after a couple of seconds.[Now fixed] WMR 170’s have an issue with in cab unit numbers, they don’t match the actual unit number & some don’t even match the unit subclass. So we have a few core issues mixed with some bugs that should have been fixed before release, along with things missing that were already on the 170. The latter really annoys me as these exist already & should not be omitted on a newer product. Also fix the texture loss issue DTG, it’s making half the content unplayable. Edit with some extra bits: Guard signal is there, but sometimes you just don’t get one, out of 6 stops so far, 3 of them haven’t given a signal. Also, 1V06 has a pathing error, on the approach to Kings Norton, you’re pathed on the Junction to the Camp Hill line, rather than towards Bromsgrove. [Now fixed] On the same service, WMR 2N28 is behind you from BHM, which apparently is a delayed 00:18 service, despite it running at 10:28.
I've found that it's all trains including ai that terminate of map with the not in service now on ps5.
I haven't bought it yet, but I've already seen two issues; both are Livery Designer related! In common with every other Rivet model, the Dynamic Numbering hasn't been removed. And, if you were hoping to reskin the 2 car set, forget it; they haven't ported it into LD!
Appreciate the overview. Wasn’t really tempted anyway but money now staying firmly in Steam Wallet. Out of interest how are the track running sounds, are they better or have suspicions from the stream been confirmed that very little has been done with them?
I'll buy it, but not until it's in the sales; I'm not paying full price for something they've done half a job on!
After reading about iffy textures again on PS5 Pro, I am now thinking if it‘s worth it. I‘m still 50/50 as I really wanted this. Considering a fix won‘t come until after TSW6 is released (if we are lucky) this was dissapointing feedback to read. I was hoping this timetable would be spared the blurries.
I don’t have the SR version to compare, but there is some motion noise at least. To be honest my opinion on the matter is that the 170’s cab dampening is…weird. It’s like having your head underwater & isn’t really anything like being in the IRL cab. Also speaking of track noises, anyone who’s been to BHM can tell you how noisy that place is with all the track screeching - there’s next to none of that on the 170. It’s a shame as on one run I was coming into BHM next to a 350 & that was scraping along like no other.
Ps5 1. All trains say not in service 170,350 and 390 2. Departure boards not showing destinations just departure time like this: 1st 08:37 then shows calling points with no destination 3. On map hover over a platform departures are blank.
Xbox Series X. Getting the "Not in Service" Destinations. XC services are running 7 - 8 minutes late for me. Diverted to the Camp Hill lines, from New Street. No difference after the patch.
Ps5 Bromsgrove to New street 170 XC 2 2 car trains coupled together there’s passengers in both trains that need checking. How do I do this I can’t walk through.
I can’t believe this. I was all set to buy the DLC today, but having just read the feedback so far, what the hell? How are XC services running so late? Why is the ‘Not In Service’ issue not fixed? Why are departure boards not showing destinations? Why are there pathing errors? These are all basic functions that should be working flawlessly now we are in TSW 5 (almost TSW 6), yet we are still getting issues. I just don’t understand.
It does, you need to unisolate it on the panel which is on the cab pillar to the right of the driver seat & also close the circuit breaker behind the driver seat.
So random fact about this, you might notice that when this service starts in New Street it actually has pathing on two different platforms - it's because the pathing is for some reason taking a loop outside the playable area. On most routes this never happens because where the playable area ends, 99% of the time the track just goes into the horizon and eventually ends off in a long bit of straight track where AI formations load or delete. In BCC's case however, there is in fact a network over double the size of the playable area which is featured and hidden from view. WonterRail has a thread all about this across multiple routes, but borrowed from there here's a pic of BCC with the hidden lines on show, and you can see the loop that 1V06 is taking, and as it turns out upon taking a deeper look this is actually happening on all of the 1Vxx Nottingham - Cardiff services. On a side note, I would have loved if the Gravely Hill line was actually featured just for some added freight gameplay but doubt that will ever happen now, unless BCC got the LIRR treatment.
So far seems quite enjoyable , variants nicely detailed and first timetable run I did appears to run smoothly. Only hitch I have is with the destination screens , unlike the Scotrail 170 you aren’t able to change the destination meaning when trying to drive the 170 on other routes you are stuck with an infinite out of service screen ruining immersion , shame it can’t just be blank by default or have the functionality the scotrail variant has
Cross country service 1V06 New street to Bromsgrove Departing 10:30am Service. About 8 miles short of Bromsgrove the game terminates and wont let you go any further. First route I chose & tried it a second time and does the same. Looks like its leading you down a track it shouldn't, maybe incorrect points set? After update, train still displaying Not in Service.
Have had a update on the patch this should be resolved this afternoon. We will update when sent out. Sorry for the inconvenience caused
Aware that it’s not your fault personally, but if you could feedback that, If products aren’t being tested before release, you could at least test the updates to fix said products. Becoming abit of habit, the fixes needing fixes.
Have the 170 running sounds been fixed? That’s all I need to know. That will determine if I raid the piggy bank or not.
Yes, I noticed the lack of running sounds in the cab in the stream, even with the windows down. Plus the silent passage of AI trains. What is it with TSW and sounds!!? After 7 years, we're still complaining, and with good reason. I also have to believe the pitch black nights continue. $17+tax? I think not.
After watching some of the ambassadors streams yesterday stating that the pis not in service bug among others had been fixed by a patch I stupidly purchased this add on this morning. I never realised that the game the route was being played on in the streams were on pc and users like myself playing on PS5 weren't included in the fix. Most of the bugs are already posted on here but I fail to see how DTG have pushed another bug ridden add on despite knowing 4 days ago while demonstrating the loco on the live stream that there was issues.
My windscreen wipers stopped working after I came out of BNS (class 323) tried turning them on and off, nothing, so I have to drive to Bromsgrove with toilet loads of water on the windscreen, this happened since I bought the 170 add on pack for the PS5
Not the first time I've heard of this, swear it used to happen with the SEHS 66 back in the day. Moved on to using the Cargo Line versions obviously so haven't seen if it still applies or not.
Yeah it’s frustrating how inconsistent soundsets are. There is actually rail squealing on these 170’s in game, but only from the exterior view & even then it’s quiet. However you can hear other trains’ making the same sounds at a much higher volume from the inside of the 170. Make it make sense. Running sounds as such are what I’d call the bare minimum on this pack, I just wouldn’t call it nothing. With that being said I will just mention that crossing over junctions & switches gives some pretty good feedback, there’s a real jolt to it (though not overdone) & honestly it’s probably one of, if not the best examples of track feedback I’ve experienced in TSW. I’ll likely take one of the 170’s onto Blackpool Branches to give it a thrash down to Ormskirk - I have a feeling it might be pretty good.
I've noticed that the 350s are 4 car formations but when you go wcml and do london to Birmingham most of them are 8 car formations.
PIS seems to be working ‘as intended’, both on the station and trains. I saw one ‘not in service’ that was correct - it began its service moments later with the destination board correctly displaying Hereford. The PIS does have the on going game-wide issue of displaying Birmingham New Street (where you are) as a destination, even despite the scrolling info saying ‘this service terminates here / this is the service from Birmingham New Street. Even the Stansted Airport XC listed Birmingham Nee Street as its first calling point..
The running sounds can be tested easy by shutting off the engine while driving. If your train sounds silent like a paraglider without any rattling and noise, then its not as it should be. Actually i would like to know if this has been fixed. There were not any running sounds at all on fife circle 170.
Damn, texture issue is a deal breaker for me. Sorry Rivet. DTG needs to fix the basic issues with the game before doing fancy marketing for a new game.
To be fair it’s been fine starting from Bromsgrove & going into BHM. It’s when you start at BHM it falls apart, the 390’s are pretty much borked from the get go & if you go to exterior & back in then the cab textures are gone - a couple of times they’ve returned but there’s been an occasion where they didn’t.
Just dl from Steam and right off will be refunding it for now. The only one of the 4 variants that work with Rail Driver this the WM 170/6. The other 3 do not, so not paying $16.99 for one train set and a new schedule. I have a mod schedule which includes both the XC and WM as reskins as well as updated 2021 tt, so for now will use this. Oh, the pis was working.
No raildriver support out of the box? are you serious? why do we keep having this issue of every other DLC having rail driver support at launch. The inconsistency is beyond aggravating to be honest.
Yeah thats the same way it is for most routes, fine in some parts but then turns into a blurry mess at certain points where the memory gets overloaded by the extra layers. Seems to be a consistent issue on any route which has a decent amount of traffic especially with memory intensive trains. I think we all have a pretty good idea of when and where it is likely to happen now, its still DTG's issue to actually fix.
Hello - we shared patch notes on this earlier today in our Announcements section. These are supporting changes to enable the 170 release and address immediate issues noted by our ambassadors for services ending abruptly.
