PC Tsw6 - 200 Years Of Trains. Coincidence?

    That era's underrepresented even in TS. I'd love to see more from it, but the market doesn't seem to be there. Then again, it's become popular in the last few years in model railways, so there is a chance.

    I think the new TSW6 Have something to do with the poll that we were given to give feedback to them, which include question like what would we as a fan would like to see added or improve in the game sometime early this year, because Matt have not announced the result of that feedback survey. Now that we are getting so close to TSW 6, i am just curious about what the train community or rail fan have choose as their top priority feature or changes that they would like to see based on the poll. I think some of the ideas and choice, was new game modes such as dispatcher- dispatch train in tower, there was also something about multiplayer, add on layers to routes, able to change to another train route on the same map with out going out to the main screen, longer routes for commuter train, train announcements in station and on the train, more realistic train sound like clickely clack, and etc. I don't remember the rest. If anyone remember this survey or was able to get a snapshot of it and post it it would really help.

    Football Manager 26 is coming in November, so I think TSW6 will have a Scottish route with Class 26s.

    The Big Gathering for 200 years of UK railways is not the only big rail event this year. Three franchises have been nationalised as the return to publicly owned railways begins. DTG may ignore both and do their own thing, I think that's the most likely outcome for TSW6.

    That isn't a big thing. The franchises have expired and been given to the Operator of Last Resort. The management is the same, and some of the OLR-run franchises are worse than when they were privately run. The process has been happening the several years already. Great British Railways, the organisation that is supposed to manage the railway, doesn't even exist yet.

    Not to mention Southeastern, LNER, Northern and Transpennine Express basically already were nationalised

    It's still a running joke among my friends that I'm actually a vampire, to explain not only how I still get ID'd for drinks at my age, but also all the trivia I have on historical stuff like the railways. Any time I bring up some kind of historic inaccuracy, the standard go-to is for one of them to chime in about how I was there.

    Southeastern from my experience has only got worse since the OLR took over. I know that Northern and TPE are still problematic but I don't know to what extent.

    I caught a 30 minutes late TPE 185 the other week. Station announcements blamed "a problem with this train". Guard apologised over the PA blaming an EMR service in front having issues. No idea who is wrong and is right. The service in front was an hour + late.

    Think the latest I've personally been on a Northern train is about 15 due to "unavailability of train crew". Main issue with Northern is all the two car trains

    Fair point, for those of us who worked on the railway when it was privatised, the return of franchises to public ownership (rather than TOCs being terminated and reverting to the Operator of Last Resort) is a bigger thing than for general rail enthusiasts, especially younger ones who didn't experience the BR era.

    But again, until GBR exists as an organisation nothing has actually changed. We have no idea when it's going to happen, so until then we're still using the old franchising system. But of course, every franchise is run (or going to be) by the OLR.

    No not hand made models. They could be done as special one off models based off fictional liveries to raise money.
    Some companies have started to do this. What I mean is if DTG focused on routes, Hornby would have all the model data needed or the moulding process. They use computers to build a model first before using the data to program CNCs etc for new cast.
    So basically any model that Hornby has ever produced will have some data or models built. Hornby to make hard version is no problem because all the cast ever made are kept still. Mostly in China now:( Yet again I’m not talking about hard models.

    The idea is for Hornby would be to use this data to build new models or enter the games console market due to the decline in the model railway industry. Yes it wouldn’t take a week, nor be easy. But the idea of Hornby switching from models to computers to console markets is key.

    So Picture this. Hornby DTG and Mattel. Game, My first railway. Kids drive Thomas and friend in the land of Sodor.
    The market strategy of getting children interested and involved with DTG and Hornby very early on.
    It’s just an idea not reality.

    So yes I might sound delusional but how else would things get built:)

    If you follow some of my work for RW200 and now Both RW200 and SD&R200. Then I’ve tried to blend many old historical locomotives names and past BR brandings. For me that has great respect for the men and women that came later on into BR with ‘Karen Harrison’ I named a loco in here honour. I’ve just recently released a class 47 called ‘Wilston Samuel Jackson’.

    You will see I am trying to blend to old with the new. I have work arranged for LMS and LNER steam locomotives, names etc.
    All done in a modern yet tasteful style or theme to represent the past to appeal to younger generations of today.

    You have a very strong point, and one that for me personally who holds great respect for the work ethic of the past.
    I watch many hours of historical video of 1930s railway workers. The casting mills and factory with men still smoking a pipe at 70.
    In a dusty factory casting and hammering steel in to drive rods. I pay great attention to their work ethic be building trains at the Vulcan Foundries at Newton le Willows, I past many times in my younger day’s wondering what went on there.

    Then the men that drove this machines literally blind due to the lack of safety systems or poor visibility of signals caused foggy conditions.
    Which was quite problematic due to the heavy use of coal industrial Britain.
    All this I feel is a great way to bring the past into the future in a way this generation might find interesting.
    Especially for those that enjoy today’s modern traction. They can’t relate to things 200 years ago or even like such weak looking machines.
    So this is why with most of the work I’m currently working on is all aimed towards making the past a part of today to inspire the next generations of drivers. Even now I get scared thinking about hurtling along at 100mph on a might steam loco, the buzz and ba#ls to do such a job takes my breath away.

    Today’s generations aren’t to bothered about the past that much. I don’t think that’s right and why my aim is to make a change.
    Make my work modern yet tasteful enough to respect those people you speak of that worked on the railways in away that today’s generation can understand a little more about the past.

    It would be completely unfair to remove any of those people and their lives from history.
    Why well it’s part of our culture and heritage of Great Britain. A time of being proud, of days gone by but not forgotten.
    Because in someways it’s our identity and we must never forget what Britain use to be. Great.

    Great because of the work ethic and respect of those men of the past.
    The people of Great Britain.

    I wasn’t there but I miss them, why I watch those kind of videos or movies. A simpler time.
    Manners and respect. The foreman and the new apprentice, “Av you got your book”!, “Yes Sir”. “Good lad, you can’t do anything without the book, right on you go”. Off to scrub and clean locomotives, even dropping the fire box. Dirty work but they got on with it no moaning just tougher men than now:)

    The CAD data used to produce model trains simply isn't detailed enough to be used in a train simualator. Not only that, they're almost certainly incompatible anyway - and even if they were, the time taken to implement them into a train simulator with physics and sounds would still make it an inconceivable project.
