[EDIT - Jan - Translated] Dear Dovetail Team, As a long-time user with modern hardware (Windows 11 24H2, DirectX 12, powerful desktop PC), I would like to suggest fully integrating Unreal Engine 5 into Train Sim World 6. Many players with the latest technology would like to experience features such as Nanite, Lumen and DirectStorage, which could significantly improve the gaming experience. I understand that compatibility with older systems is important, but an optional ‘high-fidelity’ setting would be a good compromise. This would allow users to decide for themselves whether they want to use the full performance. Thank you for your work and your openness to community suggestions.
This has been discussed countless of times. It won't happen. Also, in english please, as per Forum guidelines.
Nein, nein, nein! For a game which has already performance issues on UE4, switching to UE5 is a bad move. Also you can say goodbye to your owned routes of previous TSW games when TSW6 is UE5. The poll is useless anyway, it's not even possible they're gonna change this before the release of TSW6 and most likely not even for TSW7. They're also not gonna use different engines on different platforms.
First of all why is there no option to vote against it? Second, how is it possible to make a suggestion about UE5 without doing any research before it. Matt P. probably answered this UE5 topic dozens of times and still we see suggestions like this. For last, i would do support the idea to move this thread to the suggestions part of the forum.
He probably doesn't speak English, I guess... His profile also shows a few other things he's written, but none of them are in English. And he's not responding either.
There’s always Google Translate which is easier for one person posting to run their text through than everyone wanting to read the article. Plus I thought most Swiss people speak English. On the occasions I’ve visited it’s actually the common language spoken between the French, German and Italian regions! In fact I remember a heated argument between the German speaking conductor and a French speaking passenger, on the Bernina Express on the Italian/Romansch section of the journey, about paying the supplement… in English!
I wouldn't say this is always the case, at least of my experience it's more common that it's german and French. But yes, quite a few do speak some level of English, or fluent. However, the mention of romansch is definitely a surprising one. Haven't met a single person who wasn't above the age of 50, who could speak romansch. Anyways, I'm not sure if anyone uses this but since german users have been increasingly making more posts exclusively in german without any signs of the English rule being enforced, I would recommend the Google automatic page translator. Yes, it would be so much better if people actually followed the language rule, but it is what it is for now.
I'm German myself and I start to get seriously ticked off by this new trend of posting in German only. It's all over the forum 99,9% of people here are using English, so the first thing that should come to any newcomer's head is "Oh, I'm gonna try to blend in and write in English too. This way, most of them will actually understand me!" There are even two options: 1. You are capable of at least a little bit of English. In this case: use it. No one will smack you if it isn't pitch perfect. 2. You don't know jack about English. But in these glorious modern times we live in, there are certain tools which can help you a great deal, as -_-LivvuAurora-_- and OldVern already mentioned. It's not so hard to follow forum guidelines, isn't it? Please people, get your s... together. And no, I won't repeat that rant in German. Put it into Google Translate if you have to, lazybones. On topic: It's been mentioned a couple of times by members of DTG that UE5 isn't the universal problem solvent some people think it is. We already have got a couple of threads about it. Also, there's so much that can go wrong during porting the existing game to UE5, I don't wanna even think about it. On the other hand, gradually getting some/all of the existing routes up to speed by remastering them one by one in UE4, that would be nice indeed But that in itself would be an immensely time- and resource-consuming process, so I won't hold my breath.
Not everyone is old enough to do that in English. If you are 10 years old than is English way more difficult than somebody from 20+ years old. We dont know his age so without this information you can not claim what you written there
Fair point but they are coming on an English language forum to post which implies some understanding.
I know kids of 10 years old, speaking better English then me (English is not our native language). I don't know about the situation with English classes on school nowadays in Germany, but everything on TV is still in German instead of English with subtitles. Also kids are in general very handy with computers and phones and are able to use google translate for example.
lexie there are kids yeah but thats not a general thing. And it depends also where you live. In Germany is everything in German they put a voice over the original English speaking people yeah. In other countries like the Netherlands all tv is filled with subtitels instead of a voice that is layered above a English or other spoken story
In my country, English speaking kids is a general thing. I pointed with all TV is in German (the voice over thing) as one of the causes, a lot of Germans still don't speak English, the second one is education at school. It seems, Germans in general and/or the government, still do not acknowledge the importance of speaking English. But to be honest, German is not the only European country with this issue, n'est-ce pas?
Just wondering something. Why can't they post in German (their native language) and have the English Translation? Ex, this post of mine quoting you but in reverse (my native language is English) Please and thank you PS. Used Google Translate Ich frage mich nur etwas. Warum können sie nicht auf Deutsch posten (ihre Muttersprache) und die englische Übersetzung haben? Ex, dieser Post von mir zitiert dich, aber umgekehrt (meine Muttersprache ist Englisch). Bitte und danke PS. Verwendet Google Translate
Because this is an English language forum, operated by a commercial software developer based in the UK. As English is the international language of trade, commerce and even Air Traffic Control it makes sense not to turn the place into the Tower Of Babel. Putting English with a German translation or vv is just taking up space and bandwidth, particularly if the poster writes a veritable essay. If DTG wanted a specific language sub forum they would probably have done it by now, but bearing in mind there is only one moderator (AFAIK) who is fluent in German, it presents an immediate problem of keeping order. It’s bad enough now particularly at weekends when there is virtually no moderation.
I see, I see. Even if they were to add a sticky topic for each area (ex Hobbies -> Train Sim World -> Suggestions) to post in English, sad to say not everyone reads the stickies/FAQs - trust me I know.
