Anyone know if we are getting an August roadmap, or if the next thing will be dovetail direct please? Thanks
I forgot what happened last year. Is the 26th when we know what is in TSW6 or does it go on sale then also? Thanks
Believe it is when we know what will be in TSW6, and then AFAIK it retails in September. Believe it was the 17th Sept last year
Just got a feeling from what Matt let slip the other week about the routes etc. being nowhere near ready we may be looking at a later date, perhaps even early October. Then again, people are probably working 12/5 on this or even 12/7 if Matt has authorised the overtime which means faster progress than hobby building content at an hour or two a day.
On the ECML route, the coffee shops sell 'DTG all-nighter' drinks. I think it is safe to say that it is indeed crunch time at DTG.
Creates an interesting conundrum in that the Fall Steam sale begins 9/29 so, if you're right, the two events may coincide. What will be in the sale? Compatible TSW5 dlc I suppose if TSW6 has already launched.
I suppose the potential for delay will also be linked to an increase in complexity / new features that TSW6 has. If it is just TSW5 polished up a bit then it would be surprising if it was late. However if it had something exciting but complex linked with it (please let it be a working and fully documented Editor) then the delay, whilst disappointing, would be worth it?
I missed the delayed comment? Do DTG nor release any teasers in the run up to this Dovetail love event?
No official notice of anything being delayed. This is simply speculation based on Matt's comment last month that much work still needed doing for TSW6 - more work than the community might expect. Personally, I doubt the release will be delayed into October. The most likely outcome is a post-release patch after a September release. DTG don't normally post teasers in the run-up to the August Direct (except for last month). If you missed it, here is the most recent update they gave on it:
Matt's comment revolved around the content, not so much the core. Again don't want to read too much into it as for all we know they are still hitting the milestones on the white board. Depending how critical getting the core TSW6 out is, if the routes and any additional content are seriously behind schedule we could find they will be released in a Season Pass style format, which would allow the teams (particularly testers) to focus on finishing up one at a time.
I'm still waiting for all those features we were promised for Tsw4 to be released like suspension on the 710 which released after tsw4 but they've never been bothered to implement. Hopefully they'll find a way this time to make the menus slightly easier to navigate if you're not playing with keyboard+mouse as the only way I can make sense of them in tsw5 is quickly shift from one icon to another until I can guess which icon is currently selected.
Yes TSW4 did show that DTG are prepared to release an incomplete game and not worry about living up to the promises made in their own advertising.
