Gwe Remaster: Appreciation And Discussion Thread

Thanks . I know it's something small but its always bugged me whenever I play this route.

An extension would only make sense if a TSW6 route was, for example, Reading to Bristol and they were going to include the remastered London section as a single merged entity.

 

Not an extension, no. However, some nice 'extras' to the route. I'll leave it at that

I get the feeling the core route for TSW6 will do be a GWE route but further south. One that makes use of the XC & GWE licences they just got. Maybe it'll layer onto the remaster. Who knows.

 

I just wish they would move it forward or back a few years.
If I had OCD it would be because of this route. I hate the unfinished OHLE in it, because it represents a short period of time.
Said it many times but I would rather have it electrified all the way to Reading or remove the electrified bits once you get past airport junction.
I'm sure it means nothing to most of you, but I can't stand it as it is.

 

How did you find this out?

 

He is a beta tester. And possibly is working on the route

 

I genuinely do suffer from OCD and I can't say it bothers me in the slightest... In actual fact it captures a part of history when the GWML was transitioning from diesel to electric.

I somewhat agree it would be nice to have the 'knitting' go all the way to Reading, purely just to have another route to use the 387 properly.

But for the most part I'm pretty happy with the period it covers.

 

Well, I don't suffer from OCD but I will always prefer driving diesel rather than electric. So the way it is now or preferably set back aways is fine.
Although I imagine if it were fully electrified I would still have the DLoGW to play with.
I just wish it went a bit further, to Oxford and had at least one local branch.

 

tl:dr After doing (and enjoying) a DLOGW run on GWE a couple of evenings ago, am I correct in assuming this will be coming across to the remastered version?

 

I hope so cause I like playing that one .

 

Yes, it's getting the TOD4 (well, the 52, 101 and gronk) and some bug fixes IIRC.

Great. Doesn't get any better than that. Whatever the TSW6 launch brings, this remastered route will be the standout.

Will the safety systems be sorted out.

 

It would be wonderful if a no-wires patch could come out again. There was a mod for TSW2 that eliminated all the OLE on the route, making the DL runs much more satisfying. For some reason stopped working on TSW5.

I am still hoping that TSW6 will include some scenery layer options, like timetable layers, that could be toggled to suit running different eras, which would be the only console-friendly way to do this.

 

This would be fantastic if it could be done.

 

Might have to finally purchase that pack.

 

Fingers crossed Exeter to Plymouth and Paignton.

 

Most of us are hoping for that to be the case (even though I would prefer a much earlier era).

 

Hopefully if it is DLOGW would be able to layer onto it. I know only partial solution but at least it’s there potentially

I love how people like to suggest to them more work to do on the route.

Well I doubt the reason why it’s taking so long is because of people asking them to do more work but rather, other projects such as WCMLS taking priority.

 

GWR license, CrossCountry DLC, and the announced HST gameplay pack makes me believe we're getting something along the way toward Bishop Rock.

 

For the HST gameplay pack is it just going to be liveries for the GWR HST farewell or is it going to be all liveries and modifications the class ever had. As I swear when the pack was first added there was a comment made that it would feature a Uk diesel Loco in all livery variations the class ever had.

 

If you want all the variations I think we'll have to wait for TSW8 at least...

I don't recall that statement, personally, I think there might be a misunderstanding somewhere along the line.

 

That's made me very angry. It should be every variant ever. I'm tired of all this laziness from TSW developers.

Do I need to keep GWE original installed on ps5 in order to download when the remaster releases?

 

Not necessarily, but the remaster is in the form of an update to the original GWE, so having the original installed will automatically download the new one if the ps5 is set to automatically updates

 

DTG Liam has provided us many examples of his work in screenshots for many months now. Each and every screenshot shows just how much work has been done and why it is understandably taking so long. Being a local to the London end of the route, I can see how much more accurate many images are compared to the original versions. Once again I want to thank DTG Liam for all of his incredible efforts thus far.
Lastly, although I would love to see extension of the route to include ALL of the branches between Paddington and Reading and/or the line to Oxford, this is not within the scope of the remaster (unless this is secretly a full rebuild, I jest). Therefore the only feasible way that I can see to get these sections is for the line to Oxford being included within a new route dlc and the freight and passenger branch lines being released as 'Mini Packs' as I have previously suggested in multiple threads for multiple missing parts of existing UK routes. In a similar vain, new classes of motive power would not be covered within the remaster and are entirely reliant upon new dlcs being made and released separately to the remaster.

 

I believe to "remaster" a route you have to completely rebuild it.

Honestly I was hocked the second they same it was getting TODV4 lighting
