As it stands now, Caltrain will not be coming to TSW6. We will need to keep TSW5 (or earlier) to play those. DTG is exploring options, including unbranding, but has nothing to report right now.

FWIW, I installed TSW5 with just the three Caltrain DLCs, and the footprint comes to a bit under 10 gb.

Can I delete TSW 5 before downloading TSW 6 free starter pack and still get in my old stuff from the Dovetail live profile or Steam and Xbox profile?

No, IIRC you had to retain the previous version to transfer your profile and progress across, before deleting.

As I recall, on PC and XBox at least, it's fine as long as you don't have uninstall toggled to "also delete local savegames", as that way the game still sees your profile folder from the prior game to import it.

Do you transfer your profile before downloading your DLCs into the new version?

Fairly certain it was the first thing I did after installing the base game. Anyhow, DTG normally post instructions on how to do all this a few days before the new version goes live which will confirm the procedure this time round.

I seem to recall that my profiles came up on a screen after the new game was installed and I was asked to choose which one I wished to use.

I think you're correct. I remember there was a bit of confusion last year when the PS5 profiles didn't show up right away, though. Hopefully we don't see that again.

Hi guys, question from a first time TSW version upgrader here. I've always used TSC up til this year and been familiar with the annual re-brand, but obviously with TSC it requires no user involvement.

DLC wise, I see it's just a case of redownload everything (and hope there's room on the drive), but where do we stand with mods? Just bulk copy the folder?

There are always a few mods that will break with the new version. Personally, I just reintroduce them as I need them on a route by route basis as it makes it easier to identify anything that’s not working.

I also watch the modding areas of various discords to get a heads up on any updated / not working mods.

Most will likely still work as TSW6 will essentially be the same as TSW5 with a couple of extra bits bolted on.

The only problem I see with something that literally has just started service in the last few months is how would they have gotten the research done in time?

In theory, the period prior to opening might be a time the operator would be able to invite you to get recordings and the like, without getting in the way of normal operations, not having to deal with passengers, etc.
But that would then leave a fair lag before having anything close to a releasable state. It would be purely pre-production work. You might be looking at such a route releasing a year down the line from the actual opening.

Wait a minute i just realize something it might definitely be the new Amtrak Acela train because the train itself will release two days after DTG Unveil TSW 6 official. Is this a coincidence or NOT, Who Know, IT MIGHT BE. :o:cool:

As the bundle of routes will be one of the main features of Dovetail Direct and the launch of TSW6, why not? I mean DTG have stimulated the discussion around that topic with some of the veiled, vague hints they have dropped.

i still would really love to see a new metro north line cause it has been a while since they released a new line. Hoping that is going to be the Hudson line featuring the p32, GE Genesis P32AC-DM locomotives with Shoreliner cars or the Connecticut Line featuring the M8

Will there be an update to the roadmap for TSW 6 in August 2025?

    No, there won't be.

Because on 26 August, Dovetail Direct will be released on YouTube!

Fair, my point though was that there are already at least 3 TSW6 route speculation threads. I just had a Brenda from Bristol moment at yet another one.

Our last Metro North route was in early 2022 back in the TSW2 days. We are kind of long overdue for another Metro North route. I would also like to see the Hudson or New Haven lines in TSW6. Our last MTA route was over a year ago for TSW. If we're talking about passenger trains, I think DTG will either feature another MTA route (hopefully Metro North), Amtrak, NJT or MBTA. One of the most highly requested US locomotives, GE Genesis (P32AC-DM and/or P42DC) are long overdue.

Well not with the 2024 stock. It’s only going to enter service in 2026. I doubt the Piccadilly line will come anyways

Wait. So we won't be able to have Peninsula Corridor and NEC in TSW6? Are those the only ones?

So far, yes. NEC as that route was the 2nd to oldest route so the route building/dependencies are not up to date for that route and Peninsula corridor due to licensing issues but I think DTG is trying to work something out regarding Peninsula corridor

So far, I believe MBTA, MTA, NJT and Amtrak are all still valid regarding their license statuses

They have been doing test runs on the new Acela for nearly a year I think. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of its test runs. This was posted around a year ago.

So and you think Amtrak would give the access to a train during testing to record all the sounds and take all the pictures they need. Most companies won't let you until they are done testing and the machines are in revenue service. So again where is the time?

Besides I already know what is coming and this is a not.

I do hope DTG figures something out. I hope in the future DTG makes licensing agreements that allow the use of content as the way it was unchanged in agreements to still be allowed to be sold.

I hope this whole Peninsula fiasco has taught DTG a lesson about licensing agreements. Unbranded content I would not mind seeing but of course DTG takes our money and leaves the Caltrain stuff to be discontinued well after we paid for it. This is not surprisingly similar to the TSW 2020 NEC and GP40-2 addons that still have not made it to the game. Of which I spent money on back in the day. Only to be left behind and DTG laughing to the bank about the money I spent on those DLCs.

I will be very cautious in the future about TSW routes especially American routes since we seem to be getting the axe now. As an American born and proud this is just scummy. The bias and treatment of American routes vs European routes is insane. I hope we get more American third party developers!!!

I'll be tuning in for the TSW 6 stream however. Lets see what's in store this time unfortunately. Rather than staying on the same game regardless if the starter pack exists. "Upgrades" better be actual upgrades this year to the core engine or substantial changes to the core game to justify yet another release.

I don't know if the problem is because Caltrain donated the old Train Sim World rolling stock to Peru. There's always a reason for that. In the video you can see the old Caltrain material arriving on a cargo ship to Peru.

I hope if they ever do the Hudson Line in TSW they also include the Empire Connection with Amtrak layering, I believe the TSC version included it. If I recall the TSC version went as far as Croton–Harmon which makes sense for TSW as they can use the M3/M7s which are already in the game...further north and they would need to make the P32AC & Shoreliners

this is the best time to explore the train, take photos and record sound.

for those who don't know, DTG released the Hitachi Class 801 in Train Simulator in 2014, although the Class 801 was introduced into service in 2019.
