I think the ‘next gen’ TSW will coincide with the next generation of consoles personally….2030/31 is too far down the line. PS6 & the next Xbox are slated for release around Q4 2027….waiting until 2030 means DTG missing a great opportunity. Also, think they’ll move to UE5 at that point too.
I gather we will get: Just trains route teaser for next route. Tfw pacer release date. Tadami line release date. All aboard sim route reveal. Gwe remaster reveal.. And other stuff
You’d almost forget, but they actually announced this 12 months ago so you can cross that one off the list
No, I think they'll only announce TSW6 with a release date, but all upcoming products will be more of a roadmap so no fixed dates for when things will arrive in the future. What's coming and when for TSW6 is set in stone, that's for sure. The rest is still in the future.
I reckon we'll also see a "DTG" UK route announced but it'll probably be no bigger than GOBLIN or Cardiff. I predict the Medway Valley Line, which I think would be quite boring on its own, but would be a nice route if paired with the line to Victoria as well. I think the JT route will be announced a bit later than the 'Direct but should be decent whatever it is.
Is there is a chance that somewhere in the world the Class 66 is pulling the red Dostos? It would be the number one route in DTGs to do list.
No, it's not possible. This locomotive has no door control system and no power supply to provide electricity to the coaches for lighting, air conditioning, etc.
That was last 2 years with the DTG Summer Direct in the thirdparty section. A few weeks after the TSW release.
Well, if they will be part of one route and it will be a Southern California, then I'm all for it. Just imagine what will start in the forum.
Just going on the background development of the next-gen Football Manager game, which is a game that has a 3d engine that is almost certainly easier to build than 3d routes that require far more dynamic loading. Well FM25 was in development for 3 years before it got canned. I'd estimate that a new railway simulator would need to be in early development in 2027/8. Meanwhile, DTG will need to ensure increased sales so they can expand their team so that the TSW series isn't affected by any development of the new sim. I think the next gen consoles will have to be released before DTG can see what they're capable of. There will definitely be a lag between the introduction of new gen consoles and an all-new train simulator. In the meantime it's likely that TSW 8 or 9 will work on those new consoles.
It would be awesome if the TSW6's core UK route is Exeter-Plymouth line, featuring the famous Dawlish sea wall and a scenario set in strong wind condition. ( DTG had regained GWR's license so they can make GWR related contents) A little bit like these two photos . XC's Voyager can be the loco DLC for Deluxe Edition, if DTG has XC's license Possible train for this route 1. GWR's Class 800/802 IET 2. GWR's Class 255 Castle, which is already existed in game (DTG just need to reduce the number of carriage to 4). 3. XC's Voyager for Deluxe Edition 4. GWR's Class 150, based on WCL's 150 but with sound and physic update 5. Unbranded or Scotrail's Class 158 for GWR's Class 158 and SWR's Class 159 (as layer at Exeter St Davids) just like MAC.
I'd like to hope if it happens that they could get an actual gwr 158, without having to resort to use the scotrail one. That would leave 150, 158 and 800/802 as base route trains (just need modifying from the existing 150, 158 and 801), the 43 as a layer from gwe (and the 166?). 220/221 as dlc, of course
It's clearly very popular and business will go for what's most popular.. I myself prefer the modern over the old
If we're looking at modern passenger trains, you'll struggle to find anything other than a relatively modern multiple units nowadays. The BR era units are now firmly in the minority and disappearing fast. A smattering of loco-hauled trains but they've mostly got control units at the other end so not far off being MUs too.
They aren’t doing a backdated route so I don’t know why people keep speculating on it. The UK launch routes follow 2 patterns. It’s modern. And it has a high speed component. Any predictions outside of that criteria are a waste of time.
Just to clarify that you're talking in a official capacity? If not, you're probably right in regards to the era, but outside of that you're guess is as good as anyone elses speculation. If it is Western Region route in the deep southwest, it technically won't be a high speed route by the definition of it being below 125mph. I think 60mph to 100mph is the limit there. But again, that is my own speculation creeping in.
Every UK launch route has been a high speed route. That is not a guess. It’s what they do. WCMLS, ECML, SEHS extended…. The new launch route will be set in modern time and will have a high speed component.
Already posted this elsewhere but screw it, this thread is popular. The red wallet, look at it. ITS AN EXACT MATCH. Could this be a Thomas Isle of Sodor route?
Two of those weren’t launch routes. Bakerloo was the exception. GWE was the other high speed launch route.
Correct, but this was before TSW3, so I think a speculation of Modern and High-Speed component is safe and realistic. I could be wrong, guess we'll have to wait and see next week!
The expect the unexpected slogan thing has me slightly interested. Could this finally be the random events feature which is long overdue (with toggle for those who like green light vanilla runs)?
Wouldn’t it be great to have a Kings Cross to Paris Eurostar run? For the 200 year anniversary. I remain optimistically realist about what they’re going to serve us on Tuesday. But the Channel Tunnel run would be insane!
Sorry, I don't want to create a new topic for this question. Philadelphia is 100% = SEPTA? Like NJT service from Philadelphia to Atlantic City would struggle by SEPTA license?
No. This was the big hint of Thomas coming to TSW5 that nobody picked up on. It’s from the take a ticket reveals from last year’s Direct stream. Nobody made the connection to Thomas from Alex’s ‘special wallet’, everyone missed it. Thomas was eventually fully revealed at Christmas and the DLC released earlier this year. For TSW5. It has nothing to do with what’s coming this year.
You can disagree but you will still be wrong. Only the underground station is called King’s Cross St Pancras because it serves both stations above ground. The main stations above are separate and do not share names. If you want to get a train to Paris you will not find one going from King’s Cross. It is not the same station even if you can walk from one to the other.
Kings Cross and St Pancras are separate stations. The name Kings Cross St Pancras refers to the tube station.
That may well have been a thinly-veiled hint towards the Thomas DLC. It absolutely isn't a hint for something to be announced in this Dovetail Direct as that would just have defeated the point of the last one. "Announcement of an announcement of an announcement", etc.
Expect the unexpected is just marketing talk. They have to try and drum up interest. Let’s be real. With the annual release schedule their ability to do anything truly unexpected is diminished. They can barely get the moderate improvements they make work correctly so expecting anything crazy would be just that. Crazy.
“Expect the unexpected” doesn’t mean expect an unexpected announcement. It means there are random events coming to timetable mode. There were questions in the winter survey about what kind of random events we would like/accept if such a feature was to appear in the game and DTG are basically telling us what’s coming in TSW6 now, before the reveal. They have announced something without actually announcing it. “Expect the unexpected” is the announcement of the new big feature in TSW6 and not about what routes are coming. That in itself is kind of unexpected but JD et al do love to drop their hints and mess with us, see the ‘special wallet’ from last year (mentioned above) that we all missed. This one’s a bit more obvious. There could still be something else a little unexpected but that’s what I reckon that phrase in the build up is all about. Please note I have no prior knowledge or inside information, just using my noggin to work it out. It’s currently 5.50 am and the insomnia has been strong tonight. Not much else to do but get back out of bed and read the forum. It’s getting close to the reveal so I may as well post my serious thoughts on what I expect is coming. Random events in timetable, expect the unexpected.
If it is random events in timetable mode I hope they can be turned off. Being that scenarios regularly break due to signal that won't change or a stuck AI train (that can't be deleted via the map in scenarios), I don't trust random events not to break something
Same site, adjacent, same thing I’m afraid. As I’ve said, I disagree and consider it one site and one main station hub
Then I guess you would consider two semi-detached houses just 1 house then if you follow that logic, when they are in fact two separate addresses.......
