Big Day

So its here dovetail direct day let's hope it brings good routes and trains. But im sure some people will be disappointed but time will tell. Im kinda hoping they release the starter pack this week or next so we start to download all the dlc. And release the routes and trains at a later date. Don't think it will happen tho.

 

Tempered by the knowledge this is DTG and we know what happened in the last big set of “reveals” coming up to Christmas (the little blue thing).

Anyhow got a full packed day to keep me occupied in the run up, shopping with the wife this morning and if GWR isn’t up the creek an afternoon Cucumber trip to Bath for a walk along the river.

Why do the direct at 4.30pm seems a vit late to me.

 

They always have done it at that time.

It's actually 5:30pm in the UK as we are currently under BST (summer time) which an hour ahead of UTC/GMT/Zulu.
This gives people a chance to get home from work to watch.

 

It'll be 5:30pm UK time (UTC + 1, unless they've muddled up UTC again!), 6:30pm in Western Europe, 12:30pm US east and 9:30am US west - larger potential live audience.

 

Given what’s been ‘leaked’ already, I’m not holding out for much today. Personally I’m more interested in what JT have cooking in the oven!

Pretty sure there will be teasers starting earlier. Found this in a post from DTG Jamie in another thread about the announcement.

As we’ve done in previous years, the countdown for the livestream will begin earlier (from ~13:30pm UTC) and feature small teasers and clues as we build up to the main event. Nothing will be revealed during this time, so you can comfortably wait for the true starting time shown above.

 

According to this article, it starts even earlier with little teasers and hints.

If DTG launches some kind of pay-to-play or subscription “feature” that would be truly hilarious.

 

I mean, they put one out for TSC, that no one really talks about anymore. Not sure how it effected their finances on that thought, as TSC is pretty much quiet. (Don't even know the last time they've updated the subscription offerings)

 

if they put Siemens Desiro ML CityJet as special edition loco DLC, then I am getting that one

 

I’m not going to hang by my computer constantly refreshing it today like I did at Christmas for the ‘big reveal’ that left me and others feeling completely deflated.

Not that many people are playing TSC anymore! I had a Facebook post this morning from Caledonia Works about their new 4P tank loco and most of the discussion seems to have revolved around why they can’t have a go at doing it for TSW (all the usual steam traction caveats aside). Would fit admirably on SoS as a station pilot at Lime Street and to work the local services.

 

Haven't they discussed this in the past, could be an option alongside the regular buying dlc

 

Well they know it would LOVE off a huge portion of their player base so conventional purchase should remain an option. Though as we have seen with N3V and Trainz, those who buy the programme outright are regarded as a somewhat inferior species and don’t get the latest updates or even products. Though I had to smile at their new BR Diesel pack. Only available to those on a subscription model but you still have to pay £20 or so on top to buy it. Then if you cancel your subscription, you lose access to content you actually paid for. Sure that is against some sort of business practice even under Australian consumer laws.

 

So will there be a standard edition, deluxe edition and special edition i wonder.

I want to personally see just trains' new route. Is it modern, is it ye olden days.

Also want to see new all aboard studios route

I’ll watch but I won’t buy, I’ve got tons to keep me busy on this and TSC. Just show a little self discipline and you can save a load of money and get many of the release bugs fixed too. I just hope rivet have nothing to do with UK release route.

 

I just have one wish today: The Exeter to Plymouth route, if we get that I personally don’t care what else is revealed although a XC Voyager add-on on top would be a lovely bonus.

 

I'd be more than happy with that, it definitely makes the most sense out of all the other GWR routes.

 

I’ve tempered my expectations after the Christmas reveals nightmare - maybe they are still too high with my one wish!! If I was greedy and still delusional, I’d also be hoping for new steam traction today as well haha

 

Has to be a castle class for railtours along the route, I'd take that if it isn't a voyager

 

Well, here in the Midwest the stream is a late morning event. So a lazy breakfast, a little yard work before tuning in.

I don't usually watch streams live, but I will this one, even though I feel it will be somewhere between an anti climax and a disappointment.

 

They haven't changed the subscription offerings since it was introduced yet.

 

I’ve not been keeping up lately. TSW has been very stale for me this past year. I’m hoping there’s some good stuff coming out of this DD today that will draw me back in otherwise I have MK: Legacy Kollection to look forward too if not…

 

I'm at work and can't watch the stream so I have no particular expectations and am not that excited.

However, if they announce anything that goes through Newton Abbot or Totnes or a route involving Berlin, that will ignite my interest.

Until then I'm expecting nothing and will be pleasantly surprised if I get anything I'm interested in.

After the Thomas announcement, I shall never raise any expectations again!
