Finally, arguably one of the greatest countries for railways is coming to TSW!!! The route is 80km, and features the ČD 750 and 853 diesels. I imagine the route will be set in the past, as today Arriva serves the line since 2019. Photos of the route:
Day One for me with that traction. Hopefully the diesels are modelled before the rebuild with more efficient silencing. From audio I’ve heard of the prototype on YT, they sound very similar to the UK Sulzer Type 2’s.
I'm excited for this- i always buy at least the first route in a new country. Would any existing TSW rolling stock layer into this route?
Possibly Br642 if it is pre Arriva era. It is a diesel line. České dráhy 750 with it goggles like windows, a typical - and built in - Czech Republic engine: ..and České dráhy 843:
If set before 2014, BR 612s can provide AI to Dresden from Liberec. Unbranded Arriva 628s could additionally provide traffic at Liberec.
Pretty cool. But I’m staying very realistic. New developer, new country, highly ambitious route and rolling stock selection. So if it ever gets released, we might end up seeing it during the TSW7 or 8 era at the earliest.
I love the looks on those older trains. And always nice to have a new country. I'm looking forward to this one.
This to me is actually the second highlight of Direct (South Devon being No.1). I just hope DTG have learned from the eternal wait for Tadami and the abandonware of the Class 104, not to make any announcement until the project is at least within sight of the finish line.
Incredibly excited for Czech Republic to be featured. Closer and closer to home! The rolling stock is super cool, new countries always welcome. I wish the devs all the best!
Well, if they're sure the project is coming, I don't mind the wait too much. Lets nog forget we're still waiting for the BR420 and BR232 as well. Shame about the Class 104 indeed. Could've been a nice add-on for Peak Forest. I picked up Peak Forest recently (I've waited since Spirit of Steam was quite a dissapointment, quite a boring route IMO), and the route amazed me. Lovely scenery. I did a few Free Roams with the Class 33, but a Class 104 with a timetable would be a welcome addition.
Well there are two options for what we might be getting. First is the regular ČD 750, which was made from the original 753 in 1991. It's still being used by ČD Cargo and I believe it still has the original 144 liter V12 engine but I'm not sure about that one. Second option is the ČD 750.7, which was a rebuild of the 750 made in 2010. It got a new engine and also a digital driver's cab. It's used by ČD for running passenger trains. The modern version for freight traffic would be ČD 753.7 (made from the original 753) but I think we would know about that one as it's a different class number.
I agree, route and rolling stock look very promising. Finally another small-ish diesel route! One of the highlights of the Dovetail Direct for me as well. Let's just hope it won't turn into a Tadami 2.0... with the route's length and the new rolling stock, it's quite an ambitious project. Not to mention it being the first ever Czech route ingame. Sure it's great to announce all those many new things at once, but I'd rather prefer if they kept the lid on new routes and vehicles until it's at least close to getting into the 0-3 months category. Anyway, getting to learn Czech signalling will be fun
They're extremely similar to Hl signals, just with even more aspects for more different speeds. You can decide if that's good or bad - personally I'm really looking forward to it as Hl is my favourite German signal system.
A definite purchase for me but it is a problem with one off nation routes that layering will be absent until more routes are done. I guess we have to hope that the devs concerned do more work in their own countries.
A lot of German stuff can layer onto Czech routes, there are basically like two Škoda electric trains missing and you can do almost any route here justice. 628, desiro, all the traxx trains, and of course the omnipresent Vectron can all layer in unbranded liveries. Also I think the route choice is a decent one as the two trains which come with it cover pretty much all but shunting services if I am not mistaken. Would have been worried if it was a corridor route with a single train included.
There are not many other trains needed. It would be good to have ČD 742, maybe it will be a oportunity to make it DLC.
Those legendary diesel locos... They can also be reused in other European countries! Personally, love them, especially updated ones! Here in Italy we imported 40 of them in early 00', most of which still in operation today (we identify them as D.752/753/520!). Beasts! Here's how it looks in my country!
From what I recall, stopping and fast services were done by the 843s, some stopping services used the 814 or 810s instead. Shunting is usually done by something like 742, so it's a possibility for a DLC. German rolling stock could be layered mainly into Liberec station for direct trains to Dresden. Although most of it is 80-90 kmh, the route is very scenic and twisty. Unfortunately, the one time I took a train to Liberec, there was a replacement bus service from Železný Brod onwards.
I think they could've added the 810 or any kind of regioumouses as from trainspotting videos at stara paka that I saw there were a lot of them, so I think it also can be a possibility of a DLC.
The core features and new countries coming to the game are the two reasons, that I´ll be giving TSW another chance. Really happy to see them break out of the UK/US/Germany formular.
Just looking at the course of this route on Open Street Map makes me wonder how far away this will be in practice, particularly if the team working on it have only been coordinating for four months. However tracing through those curves and hill sections is making me drool over my keyboard so really hope it becomes a reality.
