To be fair, the screenshots do it more justice than the trailer.

One thing that's throwing me off is the light grey ballast that is used on most UK releases nowadays, it looks like the all the ballast along the route is freshly laid unlike the below picture. I'd personally like to see more colour blending and weathering used in the ballast on UK routes.

Why not use EMT version? Surely would be more realistic?

The MML comes with the EMT version, though they probably ought to apply a South West Trains livery, even if its just to the outside.

Speaking of 158s, where is the GWR 158?

True, 158s are missing here! SHG, you're thinking about it, right? :)

Looks very impressive and promising, though (Rivet apart...)!

Not to exactly derail the thread (pun intended), but I don't feel it necessary to make an entirely new thread, and this is about Riviera Line and the Voyager, but I really hope the Voyager is the reason has taken so long for the Fife Circle 158 timetable to release, as it's going to be drivable on there

Rivet are doing more timetable packs now going off what was said on the 170 Birmingham stream.

Skyhook are just sitting back ready to sell multiple versions of the Class 158 at this point. GWR, SWR just for this route, then a Northern and TfW version too.

Good choice of route, but something about the general scenery (grey uniform ballast, total absence of track clutter, lack of variety, nuance and blending with the ground textures) has R****’s fingerprints all over it. Do DtG no longer have in-house UK route builders?

Something I have pondered recently. We can only hope lessons have been learned from WCMLS and CCN with a much tighter oversight as regards quality control. And I absolutely hope DTG have retained complete creative control over the trains and sounds, we do not want Rivet messing those up.

Spotted this at Marsh Barton, on one of the screenshots.

That’s TFW signage, isn’t it? uh oh.

Seems like rivet touched this route.

This is the clear highlight of today’s announcements for me. The new German route doesn’t feel very special anymore because we’ve had so many big city to big city routes lately, most of the rolling stock is being reused for the 30th time, and the most interesting bits of the route are reused as well. To be honest, it should’ve been a free upgrade for all Dresden-Riesa owners, simply to avoid having the two add-ons coexist. And the New York route is… rather unremarkable. Basically feels like Worcester line 2.0: Reused big city terminus and then a commuter line that nobody had on their radar. Judging by how badly Worcester sold (the huge discounts soon after release are never a good sign), I’m not particularly optimistic.

The Riviera line, however, makes perfect sense and looks rather beautiful (maybe some surprisingly Rivet-looking flat textures on the coast, oh oh…). The heritage railway AI layers (see FAQ) are pretty nice, too. Just don’t really get the excitement for the Voyager. It’s the second time in a row we’ve gotten a tilting high-speed train as the bonus DLC at launch, they even look similar if you squint your eyes. The other two deluxe locos are rather unremarkable as well (a shunter will have zero use to 99% of players, and the dual mode loco can’t shine without having its own route).

This might be the first year where I just go for the free starter pack and then upgrade once heavy bundle discounts start happening. Apart from the Riviera line, there’s just nothing really exciting there for me.

By the way: Reading the FAQ was a little roller coaster. Some nice surprises (unbranded Peninsula Corridor is happening shortly after launch!). But also an absolute bombshell hidden deep in the article: They’re only releasing a handful of compatible content on Epic Games, so those who have bought all their DLC on that platform may be unable to access content worth hundreds of dollars in TSW6 :o

Said in the Direct that they’d had a personal ride out on a GWR 150 from Exeter to Paignton, plus an opportunity to stick mic’s all over a unit at the Exeter depot. Sounds should be bang on for the 150 now!

The 220 doesn't tilt and most people certainly wouldn't call them high speed!

I'm sure it's tilting in the video... The TS CrossCountry 220 had the same issue.

Doubt it considering the class 170 pack for BCC dropped out of nowhere on the roadmap, probably more Rivet DLCs will be revealed like that.

They can do 125mph but usually only get a chance to when on stretches of the ECML.

Oh boy, we finally have all the details and what can I say about this route? It's stunning! I'm so hyped for it. It's super cool, and the Class 220 is such a joy to drive!

But look a this picture... Looks like nearly real right?! :o

Imean the only one that can realy be justified as a full pice loco from that is the TfW one due to it having a different engine, and completely different cab layout with the great big ERTMS screen in the way.

I really hope they learned their lesson. Riveria Line was always one of my favourites on TSC.... even in 2014, it was a real eyecatcher. If they get it right in TSW, it will be a great route.
And they really need to utilise the Voyager and layer it on other british routes!

There’s nothing Rivet on the roadmap because it looks like Rivet have been fully subcontracted now as a development arm of DTG. They have 100% had some involvement in this route.

Rivet hasn’t released anything since Fife yet are still in business. They’re doing something. And the fact that DTG won’t tell us says a lot. I think after WCMLS and Cardiff it’s pretty clear that Rivet have been contracted to do the UK stuff under DTG’s banner. Or at least do some of the heavy lifting. They are still involved in TSW though is the real point.

I can’t remember his name, Tyler was it? The man behind the BCC TT update recently!? Well, he said on stream with Harry that there’s 3 other timetables he has worked on for other routes that are pretty much ready to go. If he’s employed by Rivet then we can safely assume it would be for their routes, and likely awaiting the launch of this TSW6 content.

Voyagers and GWR stuff.. possibly West Cornwall and Fife Circle (again)?

Black swans on the river and the clotted cream ice cream parlour on the corner? Ah, my cholesterol test beckons.
You probably can’t say or maybe this is one for the Q&A but how much of the area around is walkable, particularly the sea wall sections?

This is just me but if I cannot walk ANY of the sea wall from Dawlish to Dawlish warren, or at least to that corner with Langstone/ Red Rock, I will be saddened.
However, afaik the other parts of the sea wall from Teignmouth until those tunnels (I think Parsons Tunnel is the name) are less easily accessible from any station for the game, cant just walk straight onto it from the platform, so I assume they wouldn't be walkable and I'm not expecting that.

Hey folks - just a note that, the clips used in the Direct are WIP, and quite old at this stage, simply due to the video needed to be finalised over a week back now, and since then development has continued.

If you look across the store pages, you can view more screenshots that hopefully better reflect aspects of the route scenery and details of the coast. We'll also have more images share this afternoon in the Roadmap :)

West Coast over Shap was not a TSW5 core route but dlc, I even mentioned last years WCMLS. Pretty obvious what I was talking about.

Exactly! It was the only reason I got the TSW5 Starter Pack. Otherwise I would have stayed with 4.

Not sure if this was answered, but you can just buy this route. Just get the starter pack when it's out (six weeks starting Sept 30th), and then buy just this one DLC (plus the Voyager if you so desire) and you are set - it's essentially what you want.

Very true, I remember years ago going down to Dawlish with the wife and walking on the sea wall, but going towards Teignmouth it just fizzles out by the tunnels. At that part we turned round and headed back into the town and the clotted cream ice cream shop!
