I know, I was just joking. WCMLS also works as initials for Shap, which genuinely was the most hyped and best TSW5 UK route.

I wish Rivet makes a hundred more routes, and all the other devs as well. Then, if I like what I see I just can buy them, and you know what? You don't have to.

The audacity to tell others that you hope some content won't come out because you personally are not interested in it, even if others might enjoy it... This is really a toxic spot at times, this forum.

Absolute masterstroke with DTG with this route, and should be a very busy timetable with the 802/150/220 all included. I take it the 166 will layer on as well?!

I would have thought we’d have at least got Exeter - Paignton at some point in the game but getting Plymouth too is even better! Can’t ask for more than that!

I don't agree, I think this is a bad take, for the Rivet part specifically.
Because of how TSW content is, if something gets made once it probably wont get made again (there are exceptions to this rule but its few and far between). So no, I do not want Rivet to make a hundred more routes, just for them to be terrible and that's all we are left with. I'd rather have nothing at all but have hope that some other dev would come and actually do a good job with said route.

Its why I'm still so disappointed about WCL even though it has been years, I have real doubt that we will ever see an actual good version of Penzance and the area surrounding in TSW, despite it being such a beautiful part of the country.

I don't know about that. The only "terrible" piece of content in TSW I've encountered (in the 30-something routes from TSW1 and TSW2 era I played) is Cane Creek, and that wasn't even made by Rivet. I choose choice over copium, but if you want to be forever hoping for something 10 out of 10 quality go ahead. I'll take a choice to get something that interests me even if you don't consider it high quality, over not having something at all because you are awaiting the coming of a Railway Christ.

Yep, it was mentioned in the TSW6 FAQ that the 166 would layer in, as well as the HST.
I do wonder how exactly the HST will layer in, I think there's only around 2 castle sets a day now running now beyond Plymouth up to Exeter and zero to Paignton, unless it is not a 2025 timetable ?..

Marsh Barton opened in 2023, which would be the earliest date they could realistically have, although era-leniency is probably going to be allowed!

I was last there in 2022, and the HST Castle sets seemed to pass by every hour or so (Dawlish). Cardiff to Penzance I think.

I look forward to this, and reading the TSW6 FAQ which gives a bit more info on it, adds to it.

Just from a selfish point of view, i'd of love to have seen an extra stretch at the Plymouth end. The Tamar Valley Line. Around 14 miles of single track from Plymouth to Gunnislake. You'd have the scenery of going under the Tamar Bridge, changing ends at Bere Alston during the journey, and going over the Calstock viaduct. GWR currently operates its Class 150s on it, so it would of been a nice extra touch.

I suspected a voyager was coming, and that this was the reason for the delay in the 158 fife timetable and the GWE remaster, which though I am not enamoured by this delay, I understand the reasoning, and am happy to wait for the extra it will bring.
I wonder if the 220 will layer in anywhere else such as BCC
A GWR 158 on this route would be nice, but layers look good.
Scenically the route looks superb, do I detect some work by skyhook in this?

I hope it's the reason. It would be a shame to add the Voyager and it not appear in other places it operates irl

The FAQ's layer list (which someone kindly screenshotted and put in this thread further up the page) mentions freight layers from the Euston to Milton Keynes route, as well as the RHTT.

The RIVIERA line looks pretty cool with the Voyager class 220 add-on. All board Trains new entry Birmingham to Crew sounds pretty exciting.

See Just-Trains have a new entry entitled Preston to Crew set in thw 80s

Oh I see. Shap is probably the best route in the game, especially for people who like vintage stuff.

Yes, down there on holiday a few weeks ago. One Exeter to Plymouth service which returns later in the day.

DTG Alex said on discord that the images and clips on the stream were from a much earlier build due to the timing of this whole event thing, basically didn’t have newer pictures at hand but now there are which is good! :)

Whoever designed this route have missed a trick and as far as l can find as the route diverts from Newton Abbot to Paignton I would have thought that the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, which is a 6.7-mile (10.8 km) heritage railway on the former Great Western Railway branch line between Paignton and Kingswear in Devon, England might have been added!!

Perhaps this will come later at a cost of £30?

You just answered your own question... the few sets that run between Plymouth and Exeter. And, likely ECS movements in and out of Laira depot.

Why would they add a heritage line to a route of the Riviera mainline? Do you not also realise how much extra time it would take to add that in? People who expect things like this to be added must be deluded.

I disagree. Because when one company makes a route it is very very unlikely for another company to make it. And rivet games have botched many peoples local routes and trains already. Which means they are forever ruined. Just remember, every bad route would've had someone looking forward to it just for their dreams to be shattered by poor development standards.

Most of them only run south of Plymouth these days. Can't think of any other services of the top of my head. They certainly don't run to paddington now days.

Well said. Rivet shattered my dreams with a design that was more fictitious than real and totally ruined it. It also destroyed my belief in them too. But that is Rivet, they are not at all bothered.

Hopefully we get a Plymouth to Penzance (I'm going to pretend the Rivet Penzance route does not exist) in the future.

Would be rather nice to do an Exeter - Penzance run with a route hop, as although the latter half doesn't seem very busy, it's still a very nice route visually. Another thing could be a Bristol to Exeter route, and then a Reading to Bristol via Newbury. Would be quite cool to route hop across.

I would love a Plymouth - Penzance route, it isn't all that busy but it is a challenging route with the constant gradients, just up down up down the whole way. Would be nice to get another Cornish branch line in as well, Looe branch is a personal favourite of mine...
Though I doubt we will get any of these any time soon, if ever.

The Looe valley line would be such an interesting branch line off a Cornish Main Line route but even if we were to get a full Cornish Main Line I doubt we would be able to get this unique branch line unfortunately. :(

HSTs stopped running north of Exeter in passenger service in December 2023. I went in the last one to run up to Newport and back down to Bristol (cancelled to Cardiff Central). Was an awesome ride.

Is this the first UK base game route add on without the class 66 since the Bakerloo line? And why is the WCMLS version being used specifically, considering the extensive collection of Class 66s built over the years?

Did they still have the drop down windows / slam doors then? I used to ‘look’ out of the windows all the way between Penzance and Dawlish back in the day!

Probably as it the latest, most up-to-date, DTG version of a 66. Compatible with everything before it!

I get the feeling they just didn't have to redo it cause they didn't have to redo the lighting system so wasn't needed. They have plenty 66 versions anyway. How's about a 60 or smth? :)

HST diagrams Monday to Friday (likely timetable):

    2E06 07:22 - Penzance - Exeter (passes Dawlish 10:33)
    2C20 11:27 - Exeter - Penzance (passes Dawlish 11:41)

    Rest do Plymouth - Penzance

This has changed in May 2025 so the game will likely have something older (but it was a similar pattern with one train each day in either direction).
