Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Re-shades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. The class 60 affectionately known as Tugs due to their immensepullingpower! An Innovation when it came out in the early 90`s & looked very modern compaired to its predecessors such as the 56/47/37. Here we see 60091 heading for Peak Forest for a refill of stones!
The innovative Class 92, shares a body with my 1st entry the Class 60 but thats where the similarity ends, the 1st multi mode pure electric loco for the UK, CTRL & European network. Lots of pulling power like its diesel brother!
I have always been a fan of Class 56 locomotives - it's a Type 5 workhorse with a respectable 80mph top speed. With a beefy ETH system it could have been an excellent locomotive for overnight sleeper services on non-electrified routes. But alas this innovation never happened. In an alternative version of the late 1990s, the 16:04 from Paddington has just arrived at Penzance platform 3. In the adjacent platforms, the 21:30 Intercity Sleeper to York is about to depart behind its 'SuperGrid', and the 21:55 Night Riviera sleeper to London Paddington has a more traditional Class 47/8 at the head.
The innovative Class 802 Bi-mode can run via OHLE or in the case above, diesel where overhead lines are unavailable. Oh! ... and can also be utilized as a boat when conditions dictate.
In the late 1980's, early 1990s, the innovative DVT (Driving Van Trailer) was introduced to solve the issue of locos having to run around the train at terminus stations. The example here is seen in Transport For Wales livery with a Class 67 loco supplying the grunt at the other end of the train.
The innovation of the Merry Go Round (MGR) system in the East Midlands saw the introduction of loading and unloading of coal to power stations whilst still on the move, allowing for a continued flow of fuel for essential electricity generation. Lets try B&W The APT seen here at Crewe Railway Heritage Center, an Innovation in bogie/suspension design as it was the pioneer for tilting around the tight bends of the WCML, the train its self was experimental and short lived but it paved the way for the likes of the Pendolino & other tilting trains that followed.
Thanks you three for submitting screenshots for this week! Without further ado, In 3rd is Craigie-C with a unique screenshot of the gorgeously designed Class 800 series. Love how the line is slightly flooded here, never seen anything like it in a scenario before! In 2nd is paulc with a lovely shot of a Class 60 surrounded by vegetation! I love that contrast of a grimy industrial train surrounded by thick forest! In 1st is Limeyfox with a wonderfully atmospheric shot at Penzance! Not only is the Class 56 subject interesting, being close to an innovation that never quite got there and also hampered by it's initial poor construction in Romania but the train is also side by side with the Class 43 (HST), a true innovation for the UK and the world in diesel technology with it still holding the diesel speed record at 148mph / 238km/h. Nearby is also the Class 47, one of the most successful designs of the 1960s diesel era in the UK alongside designs such as the Class 37! Great shot!!
