It is relatively normal that "beginner" players who only have a handful of german DLCs have some runs easier than expected, as they may be missing lot of traffic around. The german content is overall extremely linked through, and I can imagine that to get some mixed trains to show up, you may easily have a requirement for like 5 different DLCs to have all the wagons unlocked. But then there are people like me who own all the content, have all the layers universally unlocked, and then it's rather uncommon that somebody would have more traffic than me, that's why I was so surprised It is probably linked to some delays in the beginning of the run (I am suspecting the PZB starting mode, which on the ingame 442 lasts rather long and keeps you limited to 40 km/h, where I would release from it once the train passed end of junctions and speed up to 100 km/h line speed). It's okay when that happens, but if we manage to track down how to start the nicer and more challenging experience, it's better for all, specially if it just cost you 30 seconds of waiting somewhere to get to it
I think this was the reason as I slowed down quite a lot to about 40 KPH when approaching Priestwitz due to that freight train waiting for me. I think I thought that I would have to wait for it but it turned out that I had priority and it was waiting for me. However slowing down for it caused me to miss my platform slot as Coswig and made for an enjoyable and busy run.
But what made you think that? You should have had a flashing green with a yellow 6 underneath, which tells you you need to be doing 60km/h from the next signal, and the fact it's flashing green means that next signal will be showing at least some kind of proceed aspect so you wouldn't need to slow down any further than 60km/h.
I have one that could get into the GOAT list... IC 2054 on Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn. It's busy, varied, fun, and a great experience if you want to drive in the snow, enjoy a sunset, AND enjoy the new adhesion physics! At Mannheim Hbf, you'll pass through the heritage run with the 103, then do some wrong way running at Böhl-Iggelheim. You should pass around 14 services in total (it feels really busy, trust me). If anyone has 50 minutes to spare, do this service. It's nothing short of amazing.
I just ran this, to check I had same experience as you the challenge is coming from it unusually being greens all the way so train needing gradient management right?
1S53 in the 86 in Shap is a good run. Only stops at Oxenholme and Carlisle, but follows 1P05 which stops at all stations. Plenty of yellows. You may even be held outside Oxenholme as 1P05 is scheduled to depart there two minutes before you.
Got round to trying this one. Definitely revealed some pathing and signalling issues 5km from Kaiserslautern. I had to remove an S1 that was stuck at a red to get everyone moving again. There also seemed to be little PZB approach control before reds in that area, but I'm not enough of a German expert to tell if this is prototypical.
I found a good one. Service: 5G73: Manchester Piccadilly to Oxley Car. M.D Loco: Class 390 Spoiler This is an ECS run from Manchester to Alderley Edge. There are lots of interesting bits here, you will be running quite a lot on yellows, so AWS will be a constant factor here. There is also a section where you are overtaking a freight service on the oncoming track just before Stockton. You catch up to a local stopping service before reaching Alderley Edge, there is quite a bit of waiting for reds and SPAD potential. Oh, and the whole thing is at night, so visibility is a challenge.
Before I add it to the spreadsheet, can anyone else confirm/deny that if they run LIRR (v2) 1631 in an M9 Huntingdon - NY Penn with date 5 Septemeber they end up with a reasonably routine journey until they enter the tunnels approaching Penn, at which point one needs to delete a service in Penn and then there's an awesome (genuinely) 10 minutes or so following the train in front in the ensuing jam which I really enjoyed as you don't get to drive on line of sight like that for that long usually and doing it in a tunnel makes judging distance harder. I'm not sure if something idiosyncratic went wrong and this isn't replicable, or if others will experience it in which case I will stick it in. Occurs to me that either way this probably won't work with the new random delay feature of TSW6 bt that is what it is
Just tried on PS5 and happened exactly as described 2 miles out from NY Penn once you get into the tunnel. It's a train from West Hempstead that needs deleting. Probably needs all the layers too.
This has also happened to me on other LIRR services as well as one time at Grand Central on the Harlem Line.
Hamburg-Lubeck RE83 (11479) Kiel (Lubeck) - Hamburg Hbf 218 pushing a cab car. Do it set to clear for a lovely starry night- the first 2/3 is easy, I would say soothing more than boring - but as you get toward the Hamburg end get your PZB fingers limber.....
I haven't run this line in a while so I thought I'd give it a go. This was a cool little hop, ran it with the Dostos, got pushed by a 112. Spoiler Smooth run all the way to Hamburg with limited stops, where I got held up by a red, had to let an ICE service pass and wait for an oncoming train to clear the tracks into the main station.
The overtake of 628 felt nice, usually around this part you are sent on opposite track due to dispatcher being dumb as brick, not for actual purpose. Otherwise it was pretty regular all-green run for me. Yeah, there is a lot of traffic, but about the same amount as for any other service. No issues for me (PC, all layers, 1-2 min delay). Kaiserlautern was all green up to the platform. MKN has a lot of bugs, but I don't remember that I would have to ever remove anything really.
Hi guys! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing some blockage issues on PS5. If you're able to send this over to SUPPORT CENTER for the team to be able to analyze the issue and find a solution, that would be great! Thank you.
So with TSW 6 fast approaching I've noticed the spreadsheet has not been updated in quite some time. I'm willing to offer help with getting it up to date before the TSW 6 release. Also, with random events coming to the game that potentially means no two runs are the same depending on what settings you choose. So would you have to have random events off to recommend a TSW6 service in this thread or should players just put in a disclaimer for what they had switched on?
It'd also depend on the type of random event. A TSR provides a different challenge compared signal faults. I suppose a disclaimer may work?
I was wondering about the fate of this spreadsheet and thread now that random events are coming to TSW6. What do you guys think?
I was able to add parder#4923 to the editing team. While many great runs will not be significantly affected by a short TSR or a signal delay, various loco failures requiring a stop and restart will likely have a significant impact. FWIW, I think that the default for recommending a run should be having all the random events off so that others can have the same experience. Another potential solution is to start a new sheet for TSW6 with a column for random events. I personally will be reluctant to try a recommended run with random events, because it is probable I won't get the same experience.
So the spreadsheets should be up to date with as much information as I had. I don't have every single route/layer in the game so would reiterate previous reminders to make sure you at least mention the loco you used and the time of the service along with the headcode. That gives enough for a player to find it to play themselves. So barring any submissions this week, everything from TSW5 should be there. Let's see what TSW6 brings, which depending on how random events evolve may need a new spreadsheet.
Meanwhile an oldie but goodie Tharandter Rampe BR 363, 95035 Westbound Industry Move Forget the listed 10 minutes! Simple, straightforward shunt: collect some cars, move them to a siding a klick away. WRONG. Those are 9 Habbins - almost 900 tons worth - that your poor little 363 has to drag up a 1.6% grade- sometimes as much as 2%! In the rain it's even more hairy. And forget a running start- a 500 Hz magnet slows you to 24 at the Befehl signal. Impossible? Almost. But do-able, if you jockey the throttle ever so carefully to keep moving - slooooowly - without breaking grip and sliding helplessly backwards. This is one that reminds you TSW's sand sim really is functional...... (Sure, you could cheat and use a 204 or G6, even a 294 when it comes out. But that ruins the fun!)
What I was wondering about is how signal delays will affect the reproducibility of the runs shared in this thread. Say, you're running an interesting service where due to some delays you catch up with a service ahead and you end up driving the rest of the run under yellows and supervision where the next guy running the exact same service would get a "luckier" spread of delays and a smooth(er) run.
WCML South - Class 390 - 1A10 Liverpool Lime Street - London Euston - Intermodal timetable All is smooth until around Wembley, then assuming you're on time, more interesting. Spoiler the signaller throws a freight across the main right in front of you. VERY easy to SPAD.
My first rec for TSW6 Morristown Line NJT Train 645- 17:06 Hoboken-Dover, Arrow III Run current date (9/26) for a nice sunset-twilight-dusk transition (seems like they forgot about daylight savings but whatevs lol). Crossing Newark Bay looking south with Pulaski Skyway in the background Really enjoy the night lighting and details on all the stations as you get further out into the suburbs. You're following 2 min behind the Gladstone local, so you get a ton of ACSES action all the way to Summit, moreso the closer you keep to time. After Summit, it's a much more chill run up to Dover. I see myself spending a ton of time on this route- great job DTG!
Also going with Morristown line, also in the Arrow III 408 - Gladstone-Hoboken at 6.59 Spoiler Many adverse signals and spad potential while following an ALP-45 into hoboken
A couple for the Riviera Line: 5/2C04 - Class 150 Spoiler The only Exeter - Plymouth run in the 150. Some nice AI at Exeter, then a tight run through to Plymouth. Climbing the hills is slow - you definitely need both engines! 2T11 - Class 166 Spoiler Morning run down to Paignton. Plenty of AI traffic (especially between Exeter and Newton Abbot), with a 7 minute wait at Dawlish Warren. You will be late leaving, and making back those few seconds is a challenge with the sluggish acceleration and weak brakes!
Morristown line service 6641, Penn Station - Dover, is great fun. I played in the ALP45DP, but it should be available for the ALP46 too. Spoiler You run express from Penn to Summit, stopping only at Newark Broad Street. Some adverse signals at the start as you follow another NJT train, but that one stays on the NEC, so it doesn't bother you for long. You then take an interesting path, switching tracks halfway along, through the three-track section west of Broad Street, which is spectacularly busy. After Summit, the mood completely changes, and it's a relaxed all-stops run along a rural line.
This run is pure TSW goodness! The Arrow is fun to drive and has fantastic sounds; I love the rattles. The route itself is very well done and looks fantastic. The ACSES safety system is also an enjoyable challenge. It may be a while before I get around to the other two routes!
This was a nice one. Just when I was about to reach the central station... Spoiler ... I got a nasty Vr 1 into Hp 0, in curve with short visibility. So emergency brake it is 43:00-45:00
A truly excellent service on The Morristown Line: X638 Summit - Penn Station ECS at 20:24. I ran it with the ALP-45DP. The smoother you are with ATC, the better the run: Spoiler Chase a Hoboken service to Broad St with plenty of roll through reds. If you are quick, you may also get a hard red for opposing traffic as you cross over westbound Hoboken track. After that, you catch a further bit of ATC action on the way to NY Penn. This route is awesome!
2C69 Cardiff to Penzance on Riviera Line with the 4-car HST. Always a pleasure to drive the HST, challenging over the hills, good AI - look to your right at the heritage platform at Totnes. I ran it in July. It's such a great route.
This was great and a bit of a challenge keeping moving with all the signal checks and the quirky brakes on the ALP-45DP
2U16 Penzance to Cardiff Central in the 802/0. Different stopping pattern and some good AI, especially if you run it in July.
What an excellent run this one! ATC is mega fun. Kudos to everyone who had a hand in its implementation.
