Evening all Not sure if this has been discussed before. Sorry if it has. I play on series x and would like to know if it is possible to have the locos and rolling stock installed for layering without having the full routes installed. It takes up so much space on the hard drive for routes I don’t drive on to get the layers for the routes I spend my time in, seems wasteful for the limited space on the internal hard drive, TSW5 currently takes up about 25% of my internal storage just for layering purposes. I haven’t found a way to do this yet, but if there’s a non jailbreaking way to do it, I’d also love to know!
If they're pre-TSW3 locos, no. If they're from TSW3 and later, you should be able to install the trains separately.
Yes, but that means specifically DLC rolling stock, like the Pendolino. Locos that come with a route, like the Azuma with ECML, still require that route (they are in the route .pak file, not separate)
Yes, but to extract them and then repackage them as their own .paks requires a level of file surgery that is beyond most users who aren't modders- and modders tend to have beefy machines that don't worry about storage.
Loco DLCs released before TSW3 - no. Loco DLCs released with and after TSW3 - yes. Locos that are not DLCs - no.
Thinking about it, that's probably what the OP meant in the first place. Can you install the locos from routes without installing the route itself - which of course is a firm no.
I'd like to be able to. The only reason I still have many installed, despite only really using 2 or 3 regularly, is for layers.
It is interesting. I delete the rosenheim - Salzburg route but the expert 101 loco works anyway (the only new loco i lost is br 111 and i will wait for the Stuttgart -heilbronn where it will suspensions experience with new copilot car).
That route was released for TSW4, so yes, the loco would work as long as there is either another route it is added to or via the training centre
