PlayStation [resolved] Compatible Content Download At Launch

Please please please make TSW6 content have a different icon in the PlayStation Content Manager to previous content.

At the launch of TSW5 so many console users ended up with multiple versions of each addon being installed because the content manager listed multiple versions of the same addon. Even still, my PS5 TSW5 content manager shows TSW3 and TSW4 addons in the list. That shouldn't be. It took me weeks to determine which version of each addon I had to download.

 

+1 to this. It’s very annoying seeing all versions of TSW dlc in the manage add-on’s section.
Also we still have the problem where you download the PS5 version and it also puts the PS4 version on download too.

 

DTG have commented elsewhere on their fix for this in TSW6 for Playstation users.

It is tied in to the reason why purchasing the TSW6 version of a DLC no longer grants ownership of the TSW1-5 versions (While owning the older version of one still grants ownership of the TSW6 version) - as this separation was the only way to work around the problems with the Playstation store downloading every version instead of just the one you want.

I can't call this "fortunately". In my opinion this is a bad discission. I had to go back several times to a previous version if the game, because of the mess you guys made of TSW5 with all the problems. Luckally I was able to play the older routes I bought for TSW5 on an older version of the game. Now this is not possible anymore, I think it's done for me with this game.

The multiple versions is just a PS problem, not only for this game. Xbox do not have this issue, as you always get the correct version for your console.

 

Indeed, it's a bodge that introduces only a downside for everyone purchasing the game on platforms other than PS5, in order to work around what is a pretty serious problem for PS5 players, which has been compounding every year due to Sony's poor design of their delivery systems.

 

If I buy the TSW6 version of an old route, for example when on sale, I can't play it on TSW5 anymore, if I'm correct. In my opinion this is a bad change.

Is this all changed because of the mess in the PS5 store?

 

It has always worked this way, so why this change now? As I'm playing on Xbox, the amount of sales is already limited and as far as I know, the route sales are only for the latest version of the game. So if I want to stick with TS5 for now, no sales for me anymore. I really don't get this change.

 

Shame you cannot click the layers in the game menu, and when you select that layer to tick the game checks to see if its installed or owned but not installed. If owned it automatically downloads the DLC in the background, or if its not owned it jumps to the store page for that DLC. Is there a list of DLC layers for each TSW6 route somewhere that I have missed? And will any route layers be updated to include announcements and other TSW6 features? Those should be the 1st routes to be upgraded really.

 

Yeah, kinda feels like a much better option would be to not make us reinstall a same-game-new-number version every year. This is yet another issue which would disappear if you just gave us a batch of new DLC and kept the same base game, rather than pointlessly overcomplicating for negligible benefit.

 

Not ideal, but it can’t be helped. It’s not a Dovetail problem, it’s a Sony problem.
