On a lot of platforms there are the standard crowd murmurs and coughing sounds (in a loop), also in freeware routes. In the world editor there is no reference to this type of sound. It seems hidden somewhere and I can't which file is responsible for this. I'd like to remove this type of sound. Does anyone know how?
Look for a platform characters blueprint, like the one that can be found in Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\Scenery\Procedural\PlatformCharacters 00s.bin. You can then remove the audio control reference.
Thanks for your replies. The sound domes are not the problem as they are other types of sound and can be selected from the sound menu, or removed. I renamed the sound files PL_Cough0x, PL_DE_LargeCrowd, PL_Sneeze0x and PL_UK_LargeCrowd files (in Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\Audio\RailNetwork\Platforms), but these sounds still remain on the platforms. There is no reference to these files in the world editor so they appear to be hidden, but by renaming them they should not be found anymore. It looks as if they are still somewhere else. A payware or freeware route is the same.
You are assuming the sounds are from the Kuju folder - If the route was released in the last 10 years then the Sound Assets might be in the Route folder. As you did not give any examples of the route where the sound is a problem it is difficult to help If you had TSTools you could look to see what Assets the route uses Then rename the Folder whilst you find out which asset is giving the sounds.
One of the routes it applies to is ECML London-Peterborough from 2014. I was able to find the crowd sounds there are in the audio section of the .ap file under Assets\RSC. The freeware route is a the route HSL (Amsterdam - Antwerp) which requires the payware routes, Im Köblitzer Bergland, London to Brighton and Munich - Augsburg. Munich - Augsburg also has crowd sounds in the audio of the .ap file (which I renamed), while London - Brighton doesn't have any I could find, nor in Köblitzer Bergland anything similar. The ECML route doesn't have the crowd and coughing sounds anymore, but the freeware route still has, so I have to look further into that for now.
If you alter an .ap file it will change its size then Steam will think it is defective and replace it. Better to Extract the Folder/Sub folders with the Audio files and rename the *.dav to *.bak rather than delete
For HSL Antwerpen - Amsterdam have a look in \Assets\ChrisTrains\RailSimulator\Scenery\SoundFX There is a Stationcrowd.bin and 3 other related ones
