It was THE freight locomotive for more than half a century. There were 850 of the things, and they were in service with DB from 1957 all the way to 2016. Some private operators still use them.

For driving, the loco itself is going to be very similar to the 110 - the real life loco is essentially a 110 with different gearing and no electric brakes - but you'll be driving trains that are very different to the ones a 110 would be used on.

It was the electric backbone of the Bundesbahn. The indispensable locomotive.

Not just freight: it was designed for that, but it pulled a heckuva lot of passenger trains too. More capable than the less robust 141, the dedicated local-passenger traction.

Oh yeah, true! Well, DB was never squeamish about putting freight locos on passenger workings anyway.

I presume that if the S5 is included then this would include the 423? Wouldn't complain as it's a joy to drive :D

Will we see the ABn coach in red and/or mint-green in this? We got it for the first time in silver in Mittenwald.

14x classes are usually mixed traffic.

If you're referring to UIC-X, I have to agree with you completely! They have been among the most important freight trains in Europe for over 60 years!
Come again? The UIC-X were passenger coaches.

That’s not the point. The forum regulations state all posting should be in English to avoid the place turning into a Tower Of Babel. It is easier for one person posting who may not be fluent in English to use Google or similar than everyone reading the thread having to do so.

Where are these forums rules? Theres zip in the updated code of conduct and the all seeing all knowing DTG AI bot can’t find them, so the rest of us have no chance!

An interesting point as I’m just passing on what has been mentioned by others. Maybe there’s a clause when you sign up. However even if it isn’t written down, just common sense and courtesy of you visit a forum run by a UK train sim developer with 99.9% of the posts in English, to stop and think that maybe I should post in English. And certainly not singling out our German friends here, if everyone started posting in their own language we would, as I said, end up with a Babel of French, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and god knows what else. Like it or not, English is the “common tongue” of international relations. dtg_jan or DTG Harry could you possibly clarify where the instructions are that discussions should be conducted in English, please? :)

For me, neither English nor German are native languages, but a banal translation of the entire page via Google's automatic translation turns into torture if there are several languages on the page. If the entire page is in English, you need to press one button. If there are some German fragments, it is not translated automatically and you need to manually translate what the person wanted to tell us.

I don't want this to drift into another forum language discussion, just my two cents (again):
In my opinion it's just a courtesy to use English on an international forum. It's widely accepted as a widespread international trade language (especially on the internet). Plus, the developer/publisher of the game and host of the forum is British, a good chunk of the game is British and a lot of people frequenting this forum are British. So using English here should come up as the logical thing to do in everyone's mind.

I get it, not everyone is a foreign language buff. My own English is not perfect either. But as has been stated above, there are quite a number of translation tools at everyone's disposal in our modern times. Use them, and reach more people with what you are trying to say ;)
