If already got a thread sorry i could not it. Kinda hoping in tsw6 we get to setup the train before the journey like set destination turn all relevant lighting on. Because at the moment there are some routes where you just put the key in and put in forward and thats it everything else done for you. Think it would be really good and bit more involved in the train setup.
This is dependent on what type of service and train you’re driving really, it makes since if you’re starting in the middle of a journey but maybe for depot services in the morning the game could set the train up in a cold state?
I actually feel the opposite, if taking a train over in service as if you had relieved another driver, then the cab should pretty much be set up ready to go. IRL if face to face relief, the incoming driver will even usually leave there key in the desk and take the one off the relieving driver.
I agree with you there Vern. Though I think if your at the start station for a service you should be able to do full startup. GSMR, P.I.S, TMS, headlights, master key, reverser, etc.
If you're starting in the middle of a service, everything should already be set up. But if its at the depot, or been idle for a while, then you should set it up yourself.
A big part of the immersion with what TSW offers with its on-foot gameplay is cold starts, particularly on locomotives where you need to walk outside, open up a panel, and properly set switches.
Yes, cold starts are much desired among serious train simmers. Unfortunately, there are not enough of us to persuade DTG to make them a common experience in TSW. Most players, I'm sure, are more of the " get in the cab and go " persuasion. Which is fine, but it should be a choice, like the simple and expert settings in some locos in TSC. Unfortunately, the kind of trains currently populating the game don't lend themselves to cold starts.
They should introduce a difficulty system to determine what type of experience you want when starting a service. You really only go through all the proper channels when starting a train when you do a scenario, it’s never embedded into the core gameplay.
lol like if i would memorize it i remember a few US scenarios where you had to start the engine but unluckily i do not think there are even more then 5 of those there might be one or 2 on sandpatch as for uk there where a few where you have to start the engine I am sure there are more of those but which ones i could not even tell about services i think it was not possible due to AI trains not being able to cold start
